Not used in same day
We did not use the voucher on the same day. I called Coinster after 9am and they gave me a reference to give to the shop. I can use the voucher with the regerence number whenever I am ready.
Coins get stuck without you knowing - Derby
#744116 - Used coinstar machine in Wyvern Sainsburys in Derby. Although I didn't know exact amount in my jar I knew it had several £2 coins. At the end the machine gives you a receipt with the breakdown of coins it counted and you go to the sainsbury customer service to get the money as instructed. They take the receipt off you but I took a photo as I had used the machine to count charity collection money. When I got home I realised that it had only counted one £2 coin so I rang up Coinstar. They needed the info off the receipt which luckily I had from my photo. They could see somehow that the machine had not counted 4 coins and said they would send an engineer and ring me in next 5 days. I waited and they didn't ring so I rang them again. They said the machine had been reset remotely and that other people had now used the machine. This made no sense bcs the machine had not been out of order and the engineer was never going to reach the machine before other people had used it! It was just a way of getting rid of me. So they estimated what I was short and offered to PayPal it to me. But this never arrived either. Terrible experience that short-changed a charity and Coinstar pocketed the money and charges excessive fees to use the machine. Coinstar suggested that if I had asked in sainsburys on the day I used the machine, that they had a key, so they could have sorted it out, but when I mentioned this later to the store, they said they couldn't get into the part of the machine where the money gets stuck! Don't use these machines!
Robbed
Robbed! Put in £19.21 at a Sainsbury's machine, paid out only £8.07.

I used the machine after 9pm when the Tesco manager had left and was informed that I'd need to cash it tomorrow, however at the bottom it states it must be cashed the same day. So I panicked. I rang coinstars 0800 number and was transfered to a helpful rep, who asked for all details and was understanding, he clarified that I will be able to still cash it tomorrow and to ring back when at Tesco with their manager if its refused. They also gave me a reference number for this. Very helpful. I will update this if I encounter any issues.
What a rip off! 20% fee to swap one handful of coins for another handful of coins.
Sorry Coinstar, but another unhappy customer. I used your machine at Tesco Bracknell North, but when I took the barcode to customer services, they could only pay me with coins! There was no facility to put the amount on the debit card I had just used to pay for my shopping, and there were no notes available at that till. So I paid your fee to swap one handful of coins for another handful of coins.

I put all my coins through a coin sorter there was over two hundred pounds when I used the machine it gave me a voucher for eighty four. after complaining told it will take three months too check total robbery how Asda is allowing is beyond me and they wont turn off the machine so its still robbing people.

Absolute scam. They take an inflated percentage and then bury a note about redeeming on the same day in the small print. Avoid.

Thief's need I say more
Tells you the count is less than you put in machine, AVOID USING!
I had lots of change and couldn’t deposit at local post office as it only allows £20 per day. I had 150 £1 coins I needed changed and then added my coin jar of lots of various silver and copper.
The machine counted 128 £1 coins? Now I counted this 3 times and there were 150, I also had 12 £2 coins yet the machine said I had 3 £2 coins. In total I got £168 absolutely rip off. And you cannot cancel once you’ve put it in the machine you just have to except the voucher. I thought the fee was bad enough but to lie and say there was less money than you put in! Disgusting!
