Excellent quality kit
Excellent quality kit. Looks great, in the box!
Cobain were great at coordinating delivery for me.
Would defo use again
Great value kits.
Firstly communication with Coban is the best. Replies are very fast, I even got a reply on a Sunday .
The guitar kits are very good with perfect neck pockets for easy gluing on their fixed neck options.
I’m currently building an Explorer which is coming along nicely..
I would highly recommend these guitar kits.
Great service!
Spoke to someone on the phone before and after ordering and was given some great help and advice.
Was also given a choice of bodies/grain patterns to choose from and it was shipped out as promised and arrived quickly.
Great service!
Fast delivery guitar kits are good not…
Fast delivery guitar kits are good not a bad price.
Awesome guitar kits
Absolutely great company. Have now had three guitar kits from them, all have been great quality and delivered rapidly. Will be buying from them again for sure.
Looking forward to working on this.
Delivered on time (before time really). Quality kit, decent wood/veneer. All Coban kits I have made have been well routed and fitted together snuggly. Looking forward to working on this one.
Ordered at lunchtime and the guitar kit…
Ordered at lunchtime and the guitar kit was delivered the next day. Really nice kit that can be stained or painted. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.
First Guitar Kit
I bought a Telecaster kit and assembled and completed it over a long weekend into a really descent musical instrument. The only challenges are getting a snug fit between the neck and body by sanding the neck and carving the headstock shape.
The pickups, pots and tuners are very basic but enough to start with and I’ll probably upgrade them in the future.
The instructions are generic for all kits so time and care must be taken. It’s given me the confidence to tackle a set neck kit next.
First class. Buy with confidence :)
Great products and excellent customer service. I've had a tele kit and a bass kit so far, and will be adding to my collection later in the year. Buy with confidence.
Guitar kit is of excellent quality
Guitar kit is of excellent quality. Will definitely buy more kits from Coban.
Quick delivery, good quality, but some issues.
Guitar was delivered quickly, all parts were present and the veneer finish was outstanding. The neck, similarly is of similar great quality, ..however...
The Headless bridge supplied, was of very poor quality, and no specific instructions were included for its construction or set up.
There IS an instruction booklet, but it's a generic guitar kit instruction book, and the headless guitar/neck/bridge are not described in it.
Re the bridge:-
Specifically, The small Allen bolts/grub screws in the bridge, for raising string height and intonation and other functionality, were of such poor quality that I found my Allen keys would chew the bolt head up if I was not exceptionally careful, ...I also believe that some of the grub screws are way too short, as I found that they were actually coming out of bottom of the threads, then just spinning underneath the individual blocks, if I raised the string height with them to a point where I had no string 'buzz'.
(This alone made tuning, string height & intonation almost impossible without either using shims, or replacing the grub screws, ..which I did, with ordinary screws. (Not quite as aesthetic, but a heck of a lot safer and easier), ....I really didn't want to risk having one jam inside and not be able to remove it).
I have also discovered that the tremolo arm retaining bolt has no effect. However you adjust the retaining grub screw, (also replaced..), the tremolo arm stays loose, and falls out.
Overall I found the "Overlord of Music" head, difficult to adjust, extremely finicky, and of really poor quality.
If it were not for these issues with the head/bridge, I think I would be delighted with the guitar, because as mentioned, the rest of the kit, (barring the lack of instructions), were of exceptional quality. I'll persevere with it for now, but I can honestly see myself ditching the head and fitting a better quality head/heads in the future, if my fixes don't work out.
I would definitely recommend them to others
It was easy to order online. There was a problem with dpd with the delivery but Mark at coban guitars was very good and sorted things out and chased it up with dpd. He kept me updated all the way till it was eventually delivered. Thanks Mark. I would definitely recommend them to others
I bought the build your own guitar kit…
I bought the build your own guitar kit for my husbands 60th birthday and he absolutely loved it.
So far so good
From the website and its ease of finding the kit I was looking for to receiving it promptly my experience has been nothing short of excellent. Mind you, I still have to put it together, but that will take me a while yet as it will need stained, sealed, finished, glued, polished and the hardware assembled. But so far so good.
I may buy my next project from them
Very helpful on time delivery of great quality product in good packaging
Mark does a great job
Mark does a great job! He arranged a shipment to Italy in a few days. The communication went smooth and the item is perfect
Excellent quality guitars and really…
Excellent quality guitars and really responsive service from Mark. He helped with all my enquiries
My 3rd kit.
I have just received my third guitar kit from Mark at Coban Guitars, a 3 P90 pickups jazzmaster style, and it is absolutely superb, my previous kits, were a 335 style, and a PRS style kit. The bodies and necks, were always top quality, and the best materials always used, the routing always crisp and clean, making these kits,a pleasure to work with.I am 77 years old, and these kits have enhanced my hobby. I can say, Coban kits are by far the best available in the UK, and customer service is second to none. Thank you Mark for all your help and consideration.
Very nice and helpful people
Very nice and helpful people. Shipping to Germany was very fast. The kit i received is great - snug neck fit, good preparation of sanding, clean binding and veneering. Will buy again 🙃
