PLEASE READ – IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ANYONE CONSIDERING THIS GARAGE
I purchased a black Volvo XC90 from this garage on 29 October 2025 for over £20,000. Almost immediately after collection, the vehicle developed several faults—issues that should not be present in a car at this price point, even second-hand.
The few faults prompted us to book a full inspection as it looked like a deeper issue was present. The inspection was carried out by a Volvo main dealer, and their report—shared directly with City Motors—confirmed multiple dangerous faults requiring urgent attention. Volvo also confirmed that at least one of these faults should have resulted in an MOT failure. This is extremely concerning, as GM City Motors had issued the car a fresh MOT just before we collected it.
When I raised these findings, the representative we dealt with, Kam, dismissed Volvo’s assessment, claiming “Volvo are lying to you; they just want your money.” Throughout multiple phone calls, Kam was confrontational, intimidating, and highly unprofessional—talking over me, refusing to listen, and putting words in my mouth. My concerns were consistently dismissed.
The garage refused to repair the vehicle, so we agreed to return it. Despite owning the vehicle from 29 October to 20 November, the garage never submitted the V5C, meaning we were never legally registered as the owners. This alone is unacceptable.
City Motors then took 13 days to process our refund, despite knowing we urgently needed the funds to purchase another vehicle. The refund was eventually sent by simple bank transfer and arrived instantly—proving that the extended delay was unnecessary and felt deliberately punitive.
The worst part of this experience occurred when I visited the garage with my toddler to return the keys and complete the refund. The situation quickly became hostile. One of the owners shouted at me after I said I would hand over the keys once the refund was confirmed—something any reasonable customer would do. He threw the paperwork back at me, told me to “come back another day,” and continued to intimidate me even after I asked him repeatedly to step away. He made me cry in front of my son and mocked me for it, calling me a “baby.”
Other staff witnessed this and did nothing. Kam eventually appeared but did not intervene—he simply gestured for Sufyan to process the refund and then avoided me entirely.
This was one of the most distressing customer service experiences I have ever had.
While other customers’ experiences may differ, based on everything I went through, I cannot recommend this garage. If you choose to buy a car here, please proceed with extreme caution and double-check everything before committing.
