Will not see the circus's show again

TLDR: Agitating security screening. Underwhelming show. Will not go again even if we have been members to many of their previous shows.

Went to the Corteo show at QUDOS bank on Sunday.

The security screening was the killer at a start. I had to go back to the car 2 times for being bounced twice, for things that I could have brought in previous shows - camera, metal bottles. I saw others being bounced for backpacks as well. We arrived earlier wanting to get a booster seat for kid, but we ended up missing the beginning of the show because of the bounces at the gate. Oh, they sold metal bottle after you passed the screening, so metal bottle is only a security risk when you bring it from outside. I guess they worry not you throw them if you bought it inside. Capitalism at its finest maybe.

Now with the mood set negative, I watched the show contemplating why I had to endure that. As others commented, the show was a lackluster. In their previous shows, they'd have some highlights (e.g. most flexible person, jumping really high, impressive core strength, etc.). This one... none.
There were people hanging as angels? but they just hanged there and did nothing. The small man lifted by huge balloons became boring after 10s. The stage setup made it even worse because you can't see the other side. When the balloon man floated to the other side, there was nothing to see. I literally pulled out my phone to do something else.

Salt to the wounds probably - they were speaking 80% in Italian (or Spanish). I don't understand and don't know the story at all.

So the whole thing was bland with a bad mood from the start.

I asked the security supervisor after the show. She said the screening arrangement was based on requirements from production, so it's the circus making it so harsh.
Who knows whether the security person was shifting the blame. Who cares.
I'll just have to avoid the circus and this Qudos bank arena for my mental peace.

Very disappointing compared to previous…

Very disappointing compared to previous shows. The upgrade to vip fan experience tickets was the biggest rip off ever - felt incredibley scammed out of our money as there was nothing vip about it just got given a crappy paper bag with booklet notepad and key ring - DO NOT PAY the $100 extra for this !!! We have always loved Cirque Solei but not any more sadly

Disappointed and frustrated

We went last night to see this show in the Sydney QDOS Bank arena…. I have seen many performances by Cirque Du Soleil in there big top and found this one in the arena really disappointing. Our seats were so far away from the stage and felt disconnected, we were unable to see costumes, makeup or performers clearly and felt the company put profits first over customer experience…. I would not recommend to see this particular show.

Seriously disappointing

Seriously disappointing. I have seen 3 other cirque du Soleil before & they were fantastic but this one was not worth the money at all. Hardly any acrobatics compared to other shows, silly & confusing story, felt like they were just killing time in some parts. Would not recommend.

Great day out but expected more

Great day out but expected more from a professional outfit that charge good money for performances. Loved the acrobatic performances but the rest was mediocre. Won’t bother again, I believe previous shows were much more spectacular

Very disappointing

Very disappointing, low quality, couldn’t figure out what was this about, until after I came home and googled about it. The performers clothes looked like they were kept in some bag , extremely wrinkled and unprofessional. Some acts were very repetitive. Absolutely did not have a WOW moment . I don’t know what happen , as this was the best Circus in the world just few years ago . I feel kinda tricked, for this amount of money I was expecting something amazing. Very disappointing

Underwhelming money grab.

Very underwhelming show. There was no Wow to the show. It was all time filler with a few average stunts you can find in most street performances. Sad to see and a waste of money.
They maximised the people paying and decreased the performance.

Not enough acrobatics

Not enough acrobatics, too much filler that you can see at a high school play. Most acrobatics good, just not enough of them. Expect more that something I can see on Americas got talent (diabolo). Has changed significantly over 20 years, if you expect what you saw years ago then don't go now. Also, letting people find seats 10min from start.

Don’t waste your money, this circus is NOT what it used to be!

This was the most underwhelming performance of any kind that I have ever seen. There was bugger all acrobatics, the story line I couldn’t figure out for the life of me & the ticket prices were way over priced! I was highly anticipating this show as I had heard such rave reviews from people who had been to past performances, but even those people agree that this latest show is NOTHING like what the were expecting either!
Either there is a lack of talented acrobats atm or OHS has gone mad and prevented them from doing all the usual stuff, but either way they need to adjust their ticket prices to reflect such. I’ve seen far more impressive performances at the local high school gymnastic class.

Very underwhelming

Very underwhelming. I went to cirque du soleil in Melbourne last year and this year’s Perth show was very disappointing. There was no story line, the performances felt very limited and slow. The most impressive act was the woman on the pole. I felt like I was waiting for more to happen and more crazy performances, but instead we got more little acting skits. Felt a bit like a kids comedy show in a way.
Would not recommend going, especially at those crazy price points!!

Saw Corteo in Perth today at the RAC…

Saw Corteo in Perth today at the RAC Arena and were sooooo disappointed!!!! We have seen Cirque de Soleil for years in the beautiful big old top tent. So much atmosphere and incredible performers but RAC Arena is a terrible venue (no atmosphere, terrible seats even though we paid premium and the most boring show I’ve ever seen!!). Seriously the Fringe Festival every summer in Perth has more talented performers that CdeS. I could say a lot more in terms of the boredom, disappointment and utter letdown of the experience but really all I can say is “don’t waste your money”.

Even 1* is too many…

Even 1* is too many…

About the most impressive thing was a woman pole dancing. It was like health and safety stopped any kind of cool act… it was exceptionally underwhelming. Even the juggling guy dropped one!!! I would not recommend at all… don’t waste your money! There wasn’t even a story to follow. Don’t go!

Terrible Customer Service After Their Own Mistake

I’m extremely disappointed with my recent experience with Cirque du Soleil.

My tickets were wrongly cancelled due to false information given by one of their on-site employees, who told us the show had been cancelled when it had not. As a result, we left the venue and completely missed the performance — after a long drive in the rain and having arranged our entire day around the event.

To make things worse, getting a refund was not simple. I had to go through multiple steps and back-and-forth communication just to recover the amount I paid, despite the mistake clearly coming from their own staff.

I requested some form of compensation for the inconvenience and disappointment — even something as small as future tickets — but they flatly refused.

I expected better from a company of this scale. Mistakes happen, but how you treat your customers afterward is what really matters. Unfortunately, this experience left me with zero desire to return.

I took my Granddaughters

I took my Granddaughters, 10 and 13 and they loved it! Youngest said it was magical. I think some of the reviews are pretty harsh. It did start off pretty slow and did lose momentum at times but we really enjoyed it. It certainly is the best I have seen of cirque du soleil, but I am happy I went.

Alegria in Milan Is a huge disappointment

Shrinkflation hits Cirque du Soleil too. We saw the Quidam show ten years ago in Milan at Assago. The venue back then was three times larger, with many more performers, significantly higher quality, and the ticket cost three times less. The Grand Chapiteau is actually a small tent where the performers barely have enough space to use a trapeze. Of the entire event, only about ten minutes were reasonably interesting, with lengthy appearances by two clowns performing amusing sketches that were far from acceptable for a circus of this caliber and at this price (128€ per ticket). We bought tickets for the event in Milan and a week before, we received an email informing us that everything had been moved to Sesto San Giovanni. After seeing Quidam ten years ago for 40€, I was shocked to see how far this show has fallen. It’s probably the last song of a circus that now has nothing left to offer and uses its reputation earned over the years to milk the last gullible customers. A completely disappointing show and definitely among the worst I have ever seen, comparable to a local village circus but with two good singers.
