We enjoyed a magical stay at the Moon Conker and loved being off grid and inmersed nature for the night! We love the attention to detail - the fairy lights and decorations really helped make it a spec... See more

Relaxing break away from it all

We were honoured to be the first guests to use the Conker, which was a unique experience for us. It was very cosy & warm and with enough space for us & our 2 year old Springer Spaniel - watching the stars through the roof porthole and enjoying our morning cuppa in the March sunshine on the deck with fantastic views. We moved on to stay at Red Kite Barn, which we also thoroughly enjoyed. Lots of thoughtful touches from Anjana & David which we really appreciated. Away from everything, the sound of owls, woodpeckers, lambs - bliss.
Only reason for 4* is linked to being dog friendly : being surrounded by sheep outside the Conker & Barn it would have been useful to have a fenced in area on the estate that our dog could run off lead, but regardless wouldn't hesitate to recommend this as a brilliant escape from the bustle of life.

A wonderful Welsh retreat

Red Kite Barn is fantastic! We had a wonderful long weekend getting away from it all - it really is a great place with everything you need for a retreat from busy lives. We parked our car on Friday afternoon & didn’t move the car until the morning we left. We made full use of the amazing facilities - well-equipped kitchen, comfy sofas, amazing big screen & projector, pool table, & luxury bedrooms & bathrooms - perfect for us with 2 adult children. The surrounding area is spectacularly beautiful. The host Anjana is helpful & speedy with her communications. We hope to be back in the not too distant future. Highly recommend.

Red Kite Tree Tent - Ynys Affalon

I surprised my husband with a night here in November for his birthday and we both absolutely loved it! The host, Anjana was very helpful with recommendations for local restaurants and responded quickly to my queries.
The campsite kitchen was well equipped and there was plenty of wood for the fire. We spent the night cooking steak, potatoes and corn on the campfire (which was DELICIOUS), drinking whiskey and watching the stars between the tree canopies.
The tree tent warmed up quickly once we got the wood burning stove going, and was really fun to stay in! There's a handy book about the tent to read, which isn't kidding when it says you will continue to feel the rocking motion for a couple of days after!
We stayed at a Michelin restaurant near Monmouth the next day, but on reflection I wish we'd stayed longer at the tree tent instead.
We will definitely be booking to stay again.

Luxurious hideaway

Spent a blissful week hidden away here for my 40th birthday. Went for some wonderful hikes and cycles in the beautiful Elan Valley to return to soak in the luxurious bath and then snuggle down to enjoy the cinema screen in front of the wood burning stove. Kitchen well equipped if you fancy doing a bit of cooking, beds super comfy and night sky amazing. Looking forward to returning again, this time bringing the kids. Book you won’t regret it.
