The Gnome Inspectors from Garden Centre…
The Gnome Inspectors from Garden Centre Finder paid a visit to Cherry Lane Garden Centre in Bedfordshire and it’s safe to say… this one earned its 5 stars 🌿
There’s a really good mix here — plenty of plants, but also lots to browse beyond the garden side of things. It’s definitely more of a “day out” centre rather than a quick stop, which we loved.
The value stood out straight away. You can really feel that when you’re walking around — lots of choice without feeling overpriced.
We took full advantage of the café (obviously ☕), and it’s the kind of place you can happily sit for a while before heading back out for another wander.
There’s something quite relaxed about this centre — not too rushed, easy to explore, and plenty of little corners where you find things you didn’t expect.

💎 Gnome Verdict:
One of those places you don’t just visit once… you keep going back.
Dangerous pot holes at the entrance to garden centre
Cherry Lane Garden Centre Salhouse Norwich review.
The entrance to this garden centre is a death trap with huge pot holes! You could easily damage your car. The garden centre and tea room is fine but we will not be visiting again until something is done about this hazard!
Terrible
Terrible, Hutches for rabbits tiny prisons and all from China!
Have visited Cherry Lane garden centre…
Have visited Bawdeswell garden centre for years & always been consistently happy with the service from all staff & quality of food from restaurant.
However with the change to Cherry Lane Garden Centre I have continued to appreciate the excellent customer service from all staff & now the competitive range of goods but quality of food in the restaurant has sadly disappointed me & unfortunately the attitude of the Kitchen “cook” desires more attention to quality of food prepared & arrogance towards any communication with Cherry Lane long standing customers. It would be of benefit to Cherry Lane Business to review this issue?
Thank you to all other hard working friendly members of Staff.
Happy New Year
First visit in 2026
This was our visit to the Bradmore Centre. Just been today 1 jan 2026. The cafe was open but the bottom area where the people with dogs can sit was closed for cleaning. So dogs were allowed anywhere. It might be a good idea for the whole area to have a deep clean. The girl who was clearing tables and giving out the meals never once wiped the tables all the salt and pepper pots had food on them. They were putting saucers out in front of the till with food still on them. You could see into the kitchen and there were dirty pots everywhere. I think it may need an inspection in the near future.

The food is always very good, nice and hot.
Staff have also been very friendly.
I just wish they could make better arrangements for people with dogs!! I Had 85 year old in wheelchair! 87 year old slowly walking to stay steady, and an 80year old that has had a stroke!! Low and behold no were to sit!! Must people in the dog area had no dogs. Not the first time I've had this problem.
Breakfast with Santa
I was really impressed with the breakfast with Santa at the Hockley branch. Our family of 8 adults and 4 children all had a lovely full English breakfast which was delicious. The kids loved the entertainment (so did the adults!) and the star of the experience was obviously when Santa arrived. It was so nice that he had a present for each child with their name on it, that personal touch made it very special. He sat in a chair and pulled out a present and then called out the child’s name for them to go and get their present, which we thought was so cute. The waitresses were amazing, making sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our breakfast. Me and my family said we would definitely do this again, we all enjoyed the whole experience and would definitely recommend
Not very dog friendly

Don't use your birthday voucher
On 11 Sept I purchased a £39.99 garden parasol and a few other items. I had been given a £30 gift voucher. Total bill £45.99. I had a £30 gift voucher and was informed I had £5 from them too.Less vouchers should have been £10.99. Asked for £11.56. Checked bill, discount on cat treats only taken off one set of 3 (3 for £3.00 instead of £3.57) given the cash.
Returned parasol today as it didn't fit my table. No issues returning but, only given £35.71. This is because, the £5 voucher from them, which, I didn't know about distributes itself across all purchases not just taken off the final total. So in effect they took £4.28 of their 'gift' back! It's policy evidently. If I hadn't used the voucher I would have had the full cost back. So, if you have a voucher as a gift from them make sure everything is suitable and won't be needed to be returned. One shop I shan't be using again.
I would like to recommend this baker
I would like to recommend this baker, I was served by kelly, she was really helpful, we live only just round the corner in Belton, of course we will back soon, it is so useful having a bakers just around the corner.
Cafe restaurant run by incompetence
Cafe restaurant run by incompetence
Empty restaurant expect old or disabled people to walk round with a buzzer for half hour.
Why not let people sit down order a drink, and wait
Never enough staff
Lady standing at entrance turning customers away wants to go and do some work like serve or clear tables, now a rubbish joke place we will never go again.
Don’t bother with the cafe….
This review is regarding the cafe and not the garden centre and shop which seems to be well stocked and have a great selection. There are far better cafes in Long Melford that deserve your custom.
