The way to get FTTPoD in rural Hampshire

Cerberus have generally been positive and helpful, though they have at times required chasing to get updates for OpenReach rooted problems with the FTTPoD build out.

The were, however, invaluable in negotiating the voucher funding process, and helping make a group application for the 3 houses in our close. Without them we would still be relying on unreliable and slow DSL.

On balance am I glad I went with Cerberus? 100% yes, because I had no other option, they made FTTPoD happen for me despite OpenReach, and I'm very very happy with the product. Thanks!

Would I be using them if Zen did FTTPoD? Frankly no, as for over 20years Zen have offered me first class service _and_ they have a residential VoIP offering. However, Zen have (understandably) decided not to get into the nightmare that is getting OpenReach to build out FTTPoD.

Will I move over to Zen when my 12month contract ends? TBD...

Fantastic so far

Fantastic so far. Not the cheapest, but the service is exactly as advertised; no fuss, no frills, and they've kept to schedule. I have also actually connected to an individual in support when needed each time so far, and when they say they will email me back they actually do. A pleasant change from the typical BT/Virgin/Sky nonsense.

Mixed experience

The initial contact with Cerberus was very good and helpful.
When it came to the delivery, the experience was less commendable. It took a long time (over 1 year), due to problems with Open Reach, but I found myself frequently having to chase our contact at Cerberus to find out what was going on. Scheduled reports on progress were regularly missed and we came very close to the deadline when funding for the project would have expired.
Configuration information which should have been sent at the time the line was installed was missing, and I was just told to contact Tech Support for it, days after the installation should have gone live. Tech Support were very good and send the missing details immediately.
This was part of a multi-line installation, and I know that the other two parts of the project are still outstanding and are having to be chased to get them completed.
I am hopeful that things will run smoothly in the future.

Fibre on demand

I had a Fibre on demand install in a very rural location including trenching and conduit through my woods. Took 10 months from start to getting the service live. Just finished the first year and had a regrade.
Cerberus has been excellent from the initial contact/surveys/quotes and the updates as the order progressed. Service speed has been bang on 300/30 (now 300/50) with low latency.
I'm just very pleased that Cerberus exists and is able to supply, via Openreach, fibre to the premises. The chances of being offered fibre from BT otherwise, would have been in my location, many years after I'm able to fog a mirror!

Fibre On Demand install

Had a Fibre on Demand install in a rural location from Cerberus and was very impressed with their level of service. They are however let down by the reliance on the monopoly that is Openreach. They don't have any other choice that to use them though so I can't mark them down for something outside of their control.

Finally installed after 9 months of waiting and pleased to say that the connection speeds are as advertised and Cerberus have been easy to deal with in setting up payment information and additions to our package.

The installation was delayed over a period of months and cerberus were not able to clearly identify the reason for the delay or provide the necessary updates. At time of installation the updates became redundant.

Speed obtained is currently 65Mbps download speed, as apposed to the expected 300.

Cerberus - as a customer, you're not just a number

Cerberus reminded me my initial contract was up and gave me a good value set of options for a new FTTP package - competitive with BT Retail and other suppliers. When I glitched the online process I was sent a personal email helping me to go through the process correctly. They continue to provide an excellent personal service, in addition to their earlier heroic efforts to get Openreach to convert my office to a fibre connection. They deserve every success.

Happy to pass on the cost of their laxness to customers.

We're over the 18 month mark in waiting for our fibre connection. Have been provided meaningless 'time-frames' which have come and gone. Cerberus' have an innate inability and laxness to manage and chase OpenReach. The cost of which their happy to pass onto their clients, who are already forking out tens of thousands. E-mails to Cerberus go either unanswered or the responses are vague and unhelpful. The project has been going on for long it's been passed through several Cerberus managers. Really unimpressed. Cerberus you had the chance to manage this effectively. You utterly failed.

Reply from Cerberus Networks

Hi there,

We're sorry that your service has not yet been delivered. As you will know, Cerberus Networks is one of a very few ISPs who offer Fibre to the Premises on Demand, with most providers preferring to avoid taking on something that can sometimes be challenging and time-consuming to deliver.

It is a complex process to build a fibre network and delays caused by things such as traffic management permits are often down to the local authority or highways authority. As the build is managed by Openreach, not us, there is a limit to what we can do to make things go any faster.

The cost to build the network is determined by Openreach, not Cerberus. We simply pass on the quotes we receive from Openreach so, again, this criticism is probably something better directed elsewhere.

If you'd like to get in touch on 0345 257 1333, we'd be happy to run through the issues your order has faced and can see what can be done. It does sound as though your order has faced issues that we have not been able to resolve. We can't identify you from your review so we'll need you to get in touch with us directly so we can assist.

All the best,
Cerberus Networks
