THEY DO NOT HAVE LOG BOOKS!!!!!

THEY DO NOT HAVE LOG BOOKS!!!!!
Whilst the staff and manager are friendly and happy to help, the teenager who was helping us, never seemed available. next the car we looked at had some significant damage that appeared to be where someone had tried to steal the car, apprently they had not noticed parts of plastic missing and the huge scratches but they will fix it. so we continued, service history a little dodgy but not their fault. when we was ready to pay my husband asked for the log book first he already had asked if they had one. The teenager proceeded to give my husband a piece of paper. Obviously my husband explained that is not a Log book and that he would be unable to tax the car. The teenager tried to state that it was but go to the post office to tax it which you can not do without the v5 number ON THE LOG BOOK! He offered to tax the car for us but too much didn't add up at this point so walked away. Apparently this also happened with my daughters boyfriend. NO LOG BOOK! This is why they are happy to tax the car for you but you have to pay the tax. You have to order the log book, which then means you wait months for a new one and you have to pay for that. In all the years of buying cars we have never come across this.

Thank you for your feedback Dannie
We’re sorry to hear you were unhappy with your experience. Some vehicles we source do not always come with the V5 log book at point of sale, as they are purchased from suppliers where this document is not always present. While not ideal, this is a legal and common process, and a DVLA V62 form allows the new keeper to apply for the V5 and tax the vehicle immediately, including at selected Post Offices.

We did offer to tax the vehicle on your behalf and to rectify the cosmetic trim issue prior to purchase. Our team also stayed after hours to assist and explain the process.

We respect your decision not to proceed and appreciate your feedback.

Great service

Great service. Made the purchase of my new car an easy experience. Very friendly without being pushy. Left to look over the vehicle with no rush. Couldn't be happier.

Excellent !!!

If we could give 10 stars we would.
We bought a Porsche from here and we can only say that the staff and customer service was exceptional from start to finish.
Taylor initially showed us the car and was beyond excellent.
We were then over seen by Michael the general manager who was outstanding and dealt with everything that we asked for. He went above and beyond for us.
This company was a pleasure to do business with and we would highly recommend them and will definitely return for any further cars needed.
And a personal thank you to the owner.
Thank you...

Fantastic service great staff.

We came to look at a car today after talking to Chris on the phone. When we arrived the car was ready for us to look at defrosted and running. We were given plenty of time to look over the car with no pressure and pushing from Chris, after a test drive we decided to purchase it. The process was so quick and smooth. All the members of staff especially Chris were so friendly, helpful and answered all our questions.

Do not waste time or money

⭐ 1 star – Serious concerns, would not recommend

I’m posting this after seeing a close friend go through an extremely stressful and expensive ordeal after buying a car from Cars Under 3000.

Within just four months, the car suffered a major timing chain and camshaft failure, resulting in a £3,000+ repair bill. This came after my friend was clearly told at the point of sale that the car was well serviced and that the timing chain would last the lifetime of the vehicle.

The warranty that was sold alongside the car was practically useless. It was the lowest level of cover, poorly explained, and offered no real protection when a serious engine fault occurred. My friend was left entirely out of pocket.

What really raises alarm bells is how things were handled afterwards. When my friend asked for proof of the pre-sale service, the documentation provided did not look credible. The “service invoice” had no mileage recorded, appeared to be a generic template, and was created and emailed within minutes of being requested. From an outside perspective, this does not look like genuine service history and seriously damages trust.

On top of this, my friend was told that consumer rights are a “grey area”, which is simply incorrect and deeply concerning to hear from a car dealer.

Watching this unfold has made it very clear that when something goes wrong, this business does not take responsibility and instead appears to deflect, minimise, and dispute rather than help.

Based on what I’ve seen, I would strongly advise people to avoid Cars Under 3000 unless they are prepared for potential major costs and a battle afterwards.

⭐ 1 star – Avoid at all costs

We bought a car from Cars Under 3000 in July and it has been a complete nightmare from the moment we bought it.

Just four months later, the car suffered a serious timing chain failure, leaving us with a repair bill of over £3,500 .This is despite being explicitly told at the point of sale that the car had been well serviced and that the timing chain would last the lifetime of the vehicle.

The warranty they provided was practically worthless. It was the lowest level of cover available, this was not properly explained, and it refused to pay out for this major engine failure, leaving us fully out of pocket.

When we asked for proof of the service they claimed to have carried out before sale, we were sent documents that raised serious concerns. The “service invoice” had no mileage recorded, appeared to be a generic template, and was only produced after we challenged them — which does not inspire any confidence in its authenticity.

When we raised our legal rights, we were dismissively told that consumer rights are a “grey area”, which is simply untrue.

Overall, this dealer sold us a car that was clearly not fit for purpose, then attempted to deflect responsibility when major faults appeared within months.

Cars Under 3000? More like cars that will cost you £3,000+ after the sale. Avoid. Proper cowboys.

In response….

Your reply publicly misstates the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

For clarity, within the first 6 months of purchase, the law presumes a fault was present or developing at the time of sale, and the burden of proof is on the dealer, not the customer. This is not optional and not a “grey area”.

An MOT, test drive, or PDI does not assess timing chains and does not override statutory rights. A major timing chain and camshaft failure within four months is exactly the type of fault the Act is designed to cover.

You also did not address the concerns raised about the service documentation provided, which was generated minutes before being emailed, contains no mileage, and appears to be a generic template rather than contemporaneous evidence.

I am still awaiting a resolution in line with your legal obligations. But have been ignored on emails with very little help .

Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear you are dissatisfied with your experience.

The vehicle was sold as a used car and, was roadworthy at the time of sale, test-driven and accepted by yourself.
It was supplied with a valid MOT and pre-sale inspection.

The timing chain failure occurred approximately four months after purchase. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, after the first 30 days the responsibility is on the customer to demonstrate that a fault was present or developing at the time of sale.

No independent evidence has been provided to support this.

The warranty supplied was a third-party, entry-level policy,
with terms and exclusions set by the warranty provider and documented at the point of sale.

We do not accept that the vehicle was misrepresented or unfit for purpose at the time of sale. However, we remain willing to review any independent mechanical report that indicates a pre-existing fault
