Two buses didn’t arrive at all
I was expecting a delivery this morning so I went to catch the 57/58 service to pick up my medication from the pharmacy, catching the bus at 8.37 would have got me there in time and get back home for my delivery. No sign of the 8.37 service, nor the next bus at 8.52. I’ve had to come home to make sure I don’t miss my delivery and this has disrupted my whole day. While I was waiting, however, five buses went past in the opposite direction. Thanks, Cardiff Bus
Incorrect Fare Charges Due to Tap On, Tap Off Device Failure
The Tap On, Tap Off system requires urgent reassessment, as it is frequently inoperative and consistently results in passengers being overcharged due to technical faults. I strongly advise customers to review their bank statements, as the device often fails to register card taps or powers down unexpectedly, leading to unintended additional charges. It is deeply concerning that Cardiff Bus continues to benefit financially from these malfunctions, despite being fully aware of the ongoing issues. I suspect this is neither the first nor the last instance in which passengers will raise complaints regarding the reliability of this system
Cardiff Bus Driver exceptional service
I would just like to leave a comment on here, regarding one of Cardiff Bus Drivers, who I believe his name is Ashley. I dont normally do many of these online comments, as I'm not the most 'technical minded' of people, when it comes to online things etc, but I felt that this gentleman needed some praise. I travel on the 58 Pontprennau bus about 5 days a week, approximately 10 times a week, and I believe Ashley hasn't long joined Cardiff Bus, but his customer service is exceptional, he's always happy, checks on people and is a pleasure to be on his buses. This on top of realising that especially the last 10 years or so, being a Cardiff Bus driver is probably not 'one of the easiest jobs in the World'. I think I've probably travelled on his bus maybe 4 times or so, the last few months, and I know that other passengers feel the same as me, as I've heard other passengers commending him for his manners etc. Thank you Ashley! :-)
Cardiff bus especially the 96 line are…
Cardiff bus especially the 96 line are the most usless buses of all time . Especially in sunday’s totallly a pain itself can’t be any worse it just says 5 minutes away from the station and then disappears. This guy’s need a life man.
Unfortunate state of affairs
I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but Cardiff Bus has to be one of the worst public transport services in the UK—if it can even be called a service. Buses frequently fail to turn up, and routes such as the 57/58, supposedly every 10 minutes, often run only a couple of times an hour. At other times, four or five buses arrive all at once, skipping stops and causing more disruption.
Drivers are often unhelpful, especially when stops are unexpectedly closed, and the app is practically useless—it rarely reflects real arrival or departure times. The timetable itself feels like pure fiction.
If you need to get around Cardiff, you’re better off walking or paying the steep St David’s car park fees than relying on this shambolic system. Sadly, this has been the state of things for years, with no sign of improvement. Truly shameful.
Still have to use uber even with a 30 day bus pass
Im not from Cardiff, ive been here for work for 6 weeks. Apart from the awkward bus timetable that means on a weekend you can’t get a bus even at 8pm, I’ve had nice drivers but a lot of them are so confrontational. I saw one argue with a 15 year old for 5 mins as she got on. Whatever the matter he could have just ignored her. Then argue with her again when we all got off. In all fairness she was right in what she was saying in that he spoke to her horribly, but as an adult he should’ve just let that go. Tell her he’ll remove her if she’s argumentative.
My main point is that there’s always disruption and they don’t seem to plan for it or accommodate people buses late or don’t turn up 60% of the time
I have a 30 day pass but I’ve had to get Ubers 6 times a week. Definitely 2 Ubers on a Sunday even though I start work at 8:30 am and finish 7:45pm
Terrible!
Incorrect charge on credit
I used my credit card to key in and key out on the bus, but was overcharged £9 and the fare of £2.50. It would have been cheaper to get an Uber - and door to door. Will not use again.
Terrible service
Terrible service. Never on time. Bus tracker is useless. Drivers are great but it is so unreliable. Timetable? You are having a laugh!

45 and 50 bus on screen for 7:01 and 7:03, just didn't turn up.
Unreliable. Stressful. Negative impacts on work and money.
They have now made me decide it's better to own a car. The antithesis of the point of their existence - they have forced me to go to my own transportation -and it will be a car, because that's what they least want.
I'll trade a monthly insurance payment and maintenance for reliability, the cost of the car (2nd hand) for piece of mind, and I think with what the exorbitant coats are for such a shitty service, it'll end up cheaper daily.
I suggest you do the same.

57/58 takes around 50 minutes to go from cardiff to cardiff (city center to pontprennau) which on it's own is a joke in 2025, but to make it worse the bus is packed every single day, either bring back the 59, run the buses more regularly, or use the double deckers at peak times!

Awful experience drivers have no consideration or awareness, most drivers are pretty good but a minority of them have serious attitudes.

Just caught the no 8 bus at 6 pm in city center bus number 114 . The driver had such quick reactions when a young girl stepped out in front of the bus avoiding serious injury or death , she was no more than five feet away when she decided to cross the street , top respect to this driver he can drive me anywhere he was on the ball .
