Alton The Star site

Alton The Star site. This is a large site near Alton Towers quite bland. Staff friendly but toilet facilities dated by modern standards. Small cubicles not enough hooks shelves slope nowhere to lay things out.

DO NOT BUY VOUCHERS!!!

DO NOT BUY VOUCHERS!!!! THEY ARE A SCAM!!!!
Here are the catches:
You can obviously only redeem the vouchers with campsites in the club. Understandable. But you have to be a club member which costs about £63.00 a year. IF YOU ARE NOT A CLUB MEMBER, you have to find sights that accept NON-Club members. AND THEY RESERVE THE RIGHT TO charge you an extra £15.00 a night as a non-club member!!!! AND THE VOUCHERS ARE NOT REFUNDABLE!!! It';s a total scam.

The Derwentwater Holiday Home site Keswick

The Derwentwater Holiday Home site in Keswick is being ruined by the Camping and Caravanning Club (CCC), we have been on site for over 10 years and up until a couple of years ago it was fantastic.
Recently some very serious examples of mismanagement have come to light, much to the detriment of the residents who have holiday homes here!
It appears that the CCC have not adhered to the site licence agreement between themselves and Cumberland Council who actually own the site. We have found out that for over 10 years the CCC have sited static units and lodges too close to each other breaching their agreement with the local authority and in turn failed to provide the correct standards of fire safety. They have been selling static caravans to unsuspecting customers which breach fire regulations of which brings in to question so many other aspects of our holiday home!
The consequences of which question the validity of our insurance for the units, the disdain that the CCC treat it's service users with, the shambolic middle management team making knee jerk rules up and then rescinding them due to their ineptitude and panic over the non-compliance issue coming to the notice of holiday home owners.
This is quite simply scandalous.
As customers we pay a lot of money for our annual pitch on the site (£4500+), a site which is riddled with non-compliance issues essentially risking the safety of holiday makers.
Many long term users have left the site over the past year due to the ineptitude of the CCC and the attitude they are met with from CCC head office, in a handful of cases there have been outright cases of bullying some of the more vulnerable residents which has yet to be addressed, despite numerous copying in by residents of issues to the CEO Miss Voysey who acts blissfully unaware of the scandal unfolding beneath her, on her watch, caused by an inexperienced "network performance manager" who even has the audacity to refer to paying customers as peasants. Something sounds familiar about a big organisation treating a group of people so badly, those people have invested so heavily in their holiday homes and in good faith.
Outrageous!
The vibe on the site between CCC and it's customers has gone from idyllic to toxic due to the way service users have been treated.
If you're considering buying a holiday home here then think again, "The Friendly Club" will sell you a unit (at inflated prices to support the commission they crave), charge you an initial pitch fee which has recently gone from £6000 to £10500 without justification, then start to back pedal on the promises they lured you with to get the original deal done.
We still have our holiday home here and are still paying top dollar in the hope that the "Club" will wake up to the damage being done by their representatives from the inside before it's too late.
Thankfully the owners association on site is now very pro-active in their dealings with CCC which is why we are still holding out in the hope that Derwentwater Holiday Homes can once again become the paradise that we originally invested in.

I didn't want to give even one star for this review, unfortunately there isn't an option for zero stars.

Don’t waste your time

Latest magazine package has a full page stuffer for Club Care Motorhome Insurance This reminded me of a reaction I received when looking for a quote from them earlier in the year . Part way through filling in details a warning came up when I gave DOB as requested. Warning indicated that if over 80 years old cover was not available. So golden oldie members don,t bother

Booked 2 sites about 2 weeks before

Booked 2 sites about 2 weeks before, thought I might as well pay in full never made aware of any conditions as life does things alter so phone them up a week before and ask to cancel 1 and move booking to another site. This is apparently impossible I have to lose full payment even though they have plenty of time to relet the pitch and I have to pay full price for the alternative site. Last winter when booking ferry they say they will offer discount but not on mine! They have taken the last of my money cancelling my direct debit

What is my membership fee for?

Oh my, I hadn't realised just how badly members feel about the club, until I came to do a review. I wish I had read the reviews before joining and tried to the Caravan and Motorhome club instead. I have to agree with my fellow travellers re the website. It's not the easiest site to navigate and the information is often significantly inaccurate. I feel this is especially true for the small certified sites around the type and quality of the toilet and shower facilities. The descriptions on the website range from a challenge for your imagination to false information. I can't decide if the Tinkletarium in the tatty, falling apart, dirty horsebox or the chemical toilet (flushing?) in a 4ft tall B&Q tool shed wins the award for the worst experience. I may have been able to stretch to 2 stars for the sites not run by rude jobsworths and run by kind and friendly staff if the cost of the stays were reasonable. Over £40 a night stay seems very common for nothing more and often much less than many independent sites. The website is misleading when it states prices are from £11 per night. I know, from my conversation with the club, this applies to a few nights, mid week, out of season for a grass pitch with no hook up and for one person and is not the average price at all. Furthermore, they lack flexibility if you need to change a booking within 10 days of arrival. And I mean total inflexibility, even if your request is possible. For example, staying Thursday and Friday, instead of Friday and Saturday.
Sites are often placed in locations that are certainly not quiet, and again, website descriptions are very misleading. And so, I am left wondering what my annual membership fee is for? If it's not for lower priced stays and it's not for great locations, or clean facilities. And it's certainly not for any kind of quality checks on sites to ensure a minimum standard is applied, then what is it for? I am voting with my feet and leaving the club. Clearly they are not listening to their members and they are not prepared to improve ones camping and caravaning experience.

Doesn't tell you on their website that…

Doesn't tell you on their website that Sandringham is teaming with rabbits and squirrels and oh my word hundreds of pigeons that are so loud you can't hear youself think.
Doesn't tell you that some of the wildlife has been getting into peoples tents. People may have left food out, but we didn't.
Website doesn't say you have to bring plastic containers to put food in to prevent wildlife ripping through you tent to get at food. Even though the managers are aware that they've had customers complain that a little critter has been in their tent.
They warn you about ticks, mosquitos and dog disease but not the above.
Would be helpful wouldn't it? Especially to those who have not camped in a forested site before.
Our stay was cut short because a little critter ripped open our tent and left little poo parcels all over the bedding.
I have emailed CCC after 7 days so far no reply.
The staff at the campsite were unsympathetic and apathetic and just downright rude.
I'm so glad i didn't join their club.
I think their low score tells you a lot about this company.
Really wished i had read them first.

DONT INSURE WITH CLUB CARE INSURANCE

took out Motorhome Insurance with Club Care who feature The Camping and Caravanning Club logo on their letterheads. This fact led me to believe that the Club endorsed the Insurance Company and I relied on that fact.
However, Club Care Insurance are non advisory and only give you the cheapest deal but that deal had an unrealistic limit on Windscreen Cover, the limit was £600 but the screen was £2500.
The Camping and Caravanning Club are merely 'introducers' and dont accept any responsibility for Club Care.

Scone caravan site

We arrived just after 1pm today at the Scone site and were met by Becky who could not have been more helpful. She welcomed us and asked if we had any preference to pitch location. We asked to be away from trees and she took us to a few pitches and gave us the choice.
Great service one of the reasons we come back here. Great location and handy stop over.

CHICHESTER CAMPING AND CARAVANNING CLUB…

CHICHESTER CAMPING AND CARAVANNING CLUB need closing down for disability discrimination.
I had the most harrowing and Terrible experience as a disabled person at this club site I don’t recommend anyone use it as it’s run by bullying discriminatory hitler types!
.
I am a disabled person , l was using the disabled facility during their “two hour cleaning session “ when everyone has to only use the disabled facility as a toilet . This was strictly enforced and when I had to use the facility due to my health conditions plus I had to use the shower briefly ( I’m disabled) on my first morning there
The manager banged loudly on the door first of two occasions . The first day I had reported this to customer services but nothing happened to change this situation for disabled customers and no response from them , Or apology, The second day these two wardens were shouting at me again -saying I was not allowed to use shower , this Second time I saw they had removed the shower unit completely then as I was trying to wash in the sink the manager yelled at me through the door banging on the door , saying he could hear me using water , I said shower had been removed he replied that it was removed to stop people “like me” using it !!! and then he and another warden waited for me outside the disabled toilet telling me off and yelling at me and following me up to my caravan in a very rude harassing and bullying manner.
I asked them to leave me alone or I would call the police but they didn’t .so
I had to call them because I was very much in fear of these two wardens called manager Alan and Carole .
I was shaking in disbelief at their cruelty and blatant disregard for someone struggling with a disability. It was a nightmare and I was in disbelief of this whole situation.
the police investigated but because no cctv they received a warning , and they filed the incident as a hate crime /public disorder against the wardens and told them they must allow me access to the disabled shower and to leave me alone . The next day I was leaving anyway but because my health had declined due to the shock I was half hour late leaving, i got a call at 11:55 am from the customer services harassing me about when was I leaving (I explained was only half hour late leaving due to illness they couldn’t care less I told them the police had given them a warning about harassing me!they just ignored this but I noted the shower was replaced and wardens stayed away from me ) I have reported the incident to customer services twice by phone and I emailed complaints but I have never received an Apology !)
The manager warden had obviously lied about me saying I swore at them etc but this was defamation because
I had not swore at them and the police had interviewed the other campers and no swearing or bad behaviour was witnessed by me.

A week later I got a reprimand type email from a person called Karen in customer services, telling me off for swearing and bad behaviour - this was obviously lies from the warden .
I replied and told them I want a full refund for my ruined stay , and I would not be renewing my membership ( luckily my bank stopped the direct debit !)
I’m reporting this to a disability charity for further investigation plus im telling everyone about this issue.
The police are providing me victim support as well as it was a hate crime .

Because the camping caravanning club are not sympathetic to disabled people.
I think they should be fined and closed down They are very unprofessional and their wardens are 99% bullies and obviously in that job to give themselves ideas of grandeur to bully elderly disabled people who usually probably would not have the strength to complain..
I’m very ill from this situation but I refuse to stay quiet about it
Chichester is definitely my worse experience of discriminating behaviour
It’s more like prisoner of war camp than a holiday camp .
Disgusting facilities and people run this club
As for Caravan and camping club - they are all top show - They get famous people as “presidents” and pretend they’re “not for profit” but they are the worst collection of bullies and hateful , despicable , discriminating bunch of People I have ever come across.
They should be ashamed of their actions towards a disabled , elderly lady , they should be apologising to me ,not further attacking me .
Please don’t go to their sites -
There are many better sites that deserve your business .

Booked into LochNess Shores

Booked into LochNess Shores, lovely site, but staff too stuck in the booking rules as we found out. We had to make a slight alteration and the staff just couldn't get their head round it. Should have been simple, but turned, by the staff, into chaos and confusion. Nice site but don't expect much help from staff. Internet didn't work with no offer of discount and which was essential as there is no phone signal.

Absolute shambles!

The Caravan & Camping club recently took over a local site we’ve been using every month for two years. The first we heard about this was a news article by our local paper as nobody thought to contact the customers who had their vans on the site in storage or even offer them a welcome letter with joining information. We visited the site and found it empty, with nobody around and our vans locked behind new bollards. After numerous emails to ask about our van and how to remove it for the season, we eventually received an email saying we’d hear from them soon. After a couple more emails, they eventually replied telling us that it was June we’d have to wait until. After yet another email, we got a generic email saying they’d taken it over and the prices for future storage. I emailed them AGAIN and eventually they agreed to give me a number for a warden so I could release my van. Ironically they rang my straight away when they realised me storage fees were due… and were very short with me on the phone. We opted to removed our van from the storage and agreed to visit at 1pm. Upon arrival there was nobody around and the site was fences off and locked. We climbed the fence as we needed the van to move it to its new storage for a set time and located a warden having lunch who then complained that we’d interrupted her lunch. Finally we removed the van. We then saw that they’d posted about reopening earlier than planned and booked a 4 day stop over bank holiday for two vans. My relative got a phone call three days before to cancel our booking and we received one the next day with other site users getting one the day after. This means it took three days to contact everyone who was being let down… on a bank holiday!

Their customer services and whole business is a joke. They’ve lost numerous customers and are now advertising an empty storage spaces due to their £200 price increase. I’d avoid going anywhere near them despite being such a big name!

Appalling website designed to confuse and frustrate users. It constantly freezes and is unresponsive. Everything is hard to find and you are not sure what you are booking when you think you've finally located an empty pitch. There's no confirmation of the site details before you hit the button. Unbelievable !!!Needless to say you can't amend anything on line and they don't answer the phone out of office hours.

Beware of club rules.

I recently booked a 7 night stay at the club's Poolewe campsite. I was looking forward to staying at the site as I had a very pleasant and peaceful holiday there many years ago with my late husband. However, when I arrived this time I was dismayed to find the site very busy and the waiting area outside reception far too small to deal comfortably with the number of vehicles arriving. In fact it is difficult for more than one vehicle to pull off the busy road without obstructing vans trying to exit the site. I had booked my stay in order to go hillwalking and had planned to leave at first light so that I would have enough time to drive to the start of my planned walks and to accomplish the walks in daylight. However, I was surprised to be told that gates at club sites are locked until 7 a.m. - far too late for me. I wish I had known this before wasting money joining the club and booking a holiday there.
