Overall, good quality

Ordered a complete National hive plus frames and foundation to be collected at Beetradex in March. Collected a number of boxes from the company van, but wasn’t able to unpack them for a couple of days. When I did, the quality of the cedar wood looked excellent, much better than one I had purchased from another manufacturer, which was also more expensive than Caddon. A slight hiccup with the wrong roof being included and the incorrect number of frames, but that was sorted out within a week at no further expense to me. During construction one part of a super side hadn’t been cut properly, but I managed to sort it myself. Overall, good quality and price. Maybe the downloadable instructions could be made a bit clearer.

High quality product

I ordered my first hive in December and was hugely impressed when it arrived shortly afterwards. Quality is extremely high and prices fair. No surprise that I’ve just ordered my second hive from Caddon Hives.

Assembled Langstroth Hive

I bought an assembled Caddon Langstroth Hive and I am very pleased with the fast delivery and excellent quality of the wood and the workmanship. There is one small split where the joints have been attached together but the joints are flush, as are the assembled sections and the whole hive has been well glued and screwed, nailed and sanded. There are no rough edges and the nails are tapped neatly into the wood and metal roof. I would certainly buy another hive from Caddon and would pay for assembly.

I have used Caddon hives now for a number of years. The service and quality has been very good. Only once did I have a problem with a broken brood box side when delivered. Caddon hives replaced the item without any fuss. i would recommend Caddon Hives any day.

Highly recommended

I purchased my 4th hive from Caddon hives last week, and I am still amazed at the value for money their hives offer. The hives are well built, (with excellent joints), and each item is numbered making it easy for idiots like me to assemble.

The owner (?) is difficult to understand (has some difficulty with his speech) however they provided me with an excellent and friendly service with amazing pricing.

Highly recommended!

Appalling Service and Bad Quality

Ordered two hives and had non-stop problems from start to finish. From the ordering, packing, delivery and then the product itself. Then to add insult to injury, was ignored when I raised the issues. Bee hives, once built, are difficult if not impossible to return, which they obviously use to their advantage. Once built, I felt I had no choice but to keep them despite the poor quality. Joins in the boxes were badly aligned and some areas of wood missing completely leaving gaps. Bad quality that affected the finish substantially, from the boxes to the roof which doesn't match up either. The order was initially difficult to process, then when the hive arrived incredibly poorly packaged, the frames were smashed to bits. Fortunately the owner responded to this complaint and dispatched better packaged frames. However when I complained about the poor quality of the hives which was only apparent once built. I was ignored and not offered any solution. Vague instructions were included that could lead an inexperienced builder to nail parts the wrong way, some of which irreversibly.

Absolutely disgusted with this company, considering I can't send back a complete hive, replacement parts that were of sufficient quality was the least I expected, but my emails went unanswered. Stuck with fixing this at my expense.

Great quality cedar hive, well packaged and clear instructions to assemble

I found the site when searching for a new cedar hive and ordered on-line which went through a paypal shopping basket. I expected an email from the website but I suspect they focus more on the quality of the hives than on the quality of their e-commerce process ! so no emails but 4 days later everything was delivered to me with no problems.

The hive components were all really well prepared and each was numbered with a clear set of assembly instructions. They even included a drill bit to use with supplied screws for the base which I had ordered.

The price was good, delivery was good and the hive was excellent. If the e-commerce side provided more email updates it would be 5* but that said I have no hesitation in recommending them.
