Extremely Poor Support and Outdated Tools

I am a developer and my experience with BuyMeACoffee has been horrible. After a full week, support never replied to my email. I also tried reaching out via chat, and after several days, I still received no response. The lack of support is unacceptable.

On top of that, their fees are significantly higher compared to other platforms for receiving donations. The API for membership integration is no longer maintained, and while they provide some webhooks, they are unreliable.

The concept of the service is good, but the final outcome is a disaster.

Overall, this service is not trustworthy, and I cannot recommend BuyMeACoffee to anyone looking for a reliable platform.

Seems like a SCAM

I'm reporting this company to the FTC for possible fraud. They claim they have to "review" your request to withdraw your funds AFTER you install their plugin and receive a supporter. In which, they take their dear sweet time (I'm still waiting) to release your funds, and are unresponsive to messages. I received a $15 contribution from a follower for helping them, Buy Me a Coffee immediately took their "cut" leaving me to have to fight and beg for a $13.44 balance.

It takes over one week to get any payment from these people. Don’t waste your time guys.

I’ve been with this company for good number years I always had the payments made very quickly. I’ve asked them to verify my method of payment to me. No reply. I am sick third day now I still wrote to them. No reply and it’s very basic question and very simple to answer the customer service is not good and I’ve been with these people for at least seven or eight years. I am starting to look for somebody else with similar product.

Unhappy aft first but then ok

A scam, they said 7 days to refund my balance to supporters but 14 days has passed but nothing, even a response. Really disappointed with this platform! Stay away from them!! They will suspend your account and hold your money for no reasonable reason. Just a silence forever, waste of time, effort, and money 😡😡😡

Updated 01/27/2026: the refunds are all back to my supporters already, so I changed the rating. Still sad that my account is suspended but if this is final decision, I will have way but to accept

The Perfect Platform for My Needs

This is the perfect platform for my small gift program which supports cats on a Greek island. Very user friendly (even for a non-techie!) and I love that I can post updates and email to my supporters all at once. And the monthly membership function is perfect. Finally, customer support is very responsive. All in all a great experience over the last 3 years!

After trying for over half an hour to cancel this subscription it was a total waste of time it seems obvious that you don't want it cancelled so you can keep take the money it could be made much easier to be slbe to cancel but every time I get to the last screen it freezes. Sorry one big con hopefully the bank can help.

I love using BuyMeACoffee

I love using BuyMeACoffee - it's easy to create a shop and start receiving support/money for your products. The site has been constantly growing by adding new features, allowing more supported payment types, file types, adding discounts and etc. There was removal of PSD files from the supported format on the site, but after my "feature request" - I have received such a quick response from the Head of the Support Team and notification that they have now enabled support for .psd files on the platform. I am able to upload these files without any issues again going forward. I want to add that I daily and actively using this platform, I am digital freelance illustrator, bases creator & character designer - throughout the time (from 2022) I got over 3,500 supporters and in general thankful for everything what BuyMeACoffee does! Their customer service always polite, I am satisfied how fast I receive response from support team. Plus I would like to add that payouts system is amazing - haven't had any issues with any of that! Thank you so much, BuyMeACoffee, for taking care of your digital artists & creators!! ♥

Withholding my money

Support has sent me in circles repeatedly to locate and receive my payouts. I got sent to Stripe, who couldn't help me, and even asked me to get my donors to tell me their credit card info! Obviously a huge security and trust risk.

Now, BuyMeACoffee is making me send the same info repeatedly. A particularly frustrating staff member who is allowed to be anonymous as "Yogini," doesn't read my messages. She replies with links that don't lead to a solution. I send them a screenshot, she sends me back to the wrong page. The whole time refusing pay me my money. She claims there is some sort of secret email I used, when I only have the two addresses. This is weaponized incompetence. I get the feeling she's amused.

I've now spent over an hour on this nonsense. Next, is asking my last donor to complain to his credit card company. Because they've appropriated his money.

Scam platform

Scam platform! False accusations of "adult content" on an EMPTY profile to steal funds!

DO NOT USE THIS PLATFORM! Buy Me a Coffee is a scam that uses fake accusations to freeze and steal users' money.

My account was COMPLETELY EMPTY. I had ZERO photos, ZERO posts, and ZERO links to any restricted content. I created the profile, received a legitimate support payment of $175, and the moment I tried to withdraw my funds, they banned me.

They had the audacity to claim I violated "adult content" policies. This is a MALICIOUS LIE and DEFAMATION. I have never been involved in the adult industry in my life. My linked social media accounts are clean and personal. They are simply using this "adult content" label as a convenient excuse to withhold my $160 after taking their fees.

They provide no proof, no explanation, and no human support. They are hiding behind automated scripts to avoid paying out. This is pure discrimination and financial fraud.

Stay away if you don't want your money stolen under false pretenses! I am also filing a formal complaint with Stripe (their payment processor) to report this fraudulent behavior.

Give me my money back and stop lying about your users!

Buy me a coffee just tried to charge me $150 aud. I didnt make a willing payment or donation. I DON'T KNOW WHY THIS Was tried. Seems like a scam?

*edit to response: lucky it was tried to be charged to a card I rarely have money in so it was declined. The attempt was twice and it says under buy me a coffee, with the aa.e logo from your website. Someone is using your name if it wasn't you. Or maybe you assume everyone drinks coffee and people won't notice? Good luck, merchant has been blocked.
