Ordered a book on Booktopia on April 6th 2024 as a pre-order paid in full. The book was released last week and I hadn't heard anything so I looked up their site and they were still up, still selling. So what's going on? Type in their AI/bot chat and find out they aren't fulfilling or giving refunds on any books from before September? You weren't going to inform anyone of this? Literally leaving people high and dry that aren't involved in your little involuntary administration drama?

Very disappointed with the service offered at Booktopia… ordered book online on the 3rd November… no updates received on my order.. very unhappy to be told that the book is not in stock at time of ordering!..
You are lead to believe the book will be received within 15 working days… that’s not the case…
This book was intended as a gift and there’s no way I will receive it in time for my friends birthday gift…
Please be aware of late deliveries and taking payment for books that are not in stock!.. I won’t be using Booktopia again!

Super easy to order, books arrived quickly and well packaged

Paid 29$ for a book. The book was disappointingly small, barely the size of a hand. The paper quality was very poor, and the text was written in such a tiny font that it required magnifying glasses to read. Overall, I was very disappointed with it.

Disgraceful. My 9 year old son saved up for 6 books ‘football rules’ detailing the careers of his favorite players. As some books were on pre-order I kept waiting - months. Then came the voluntary administration declaration, no refund, no books and a handball back to PayPal to get a refund - which PayPal wanted nothing to do with. Now they’ve reopened selling the same books but will not honor any pre-existing orders. Will never order from Booktopia again.

Ordering was super easy and my order arrived very fast. It was packaged well so it was in perfect condition. Pricing was also much cheaper than other sites, so very glad I got guided to Booktopia for a good deal!

Great selection, good price, excellent communication and service. Delivery direct to grandson at another address no problem, quick and secure.

I had a voucher that I was unable to use due to the voluntary administration, and now they won’t honour the voucher. Bad service and I’ll buy my books else where.

Terrible customer service
They take far tooooooo looooong to even dispatch your books then need wait more weeks for delivery. Ordered books over 7 weeks ago NONE have even reached the dispatched part.
I definitely won't be ordering from booktopia again. Due to needing the books,
I ordered the same books from Amazon receiving them all within 14 days (and they had to come from a different country)
Still haven't received any books I ordered, I personally wouldn't buy from here

Spent thousands of dollars at Booktopia, they took my money knowing they were going under. Now the new owners will not fulfill orders. Never again, I’d rather travel to a local bookstore and support good humans.

i paid hundreds in advance for a hardback series that was being released. during the interim the company closed and reopened and is now refusing to refund my order, honour my order or abide by consumer law.

New ownership has ruined this once amazing bookstore, The book selection is dead they don't care at all for customer service, and they have started the swap over by ripping people off. we can only hope the police shut them down or they go under soon. unfortunately, booktopia died and when it changed ownership

Ordered a book unavailable elsewhere. Cost was highish, delivery was within a month. Everything seemed purfect , until.. Australia Post says another book is on its way. What the.. Dont tell me they put me on a subscription I didn't ask for.
Stay tuned for what arrives. Whatever it is it's going straight back. But my biggest fear is they will help themselves to my paypal account which seems to be a common way of stealing atm .

I was purchasing from Booktopia for a few years, fairly regularly. Most of the time my orders were over $90 to get free shipping. My last order, fortunately for me was only $35 because they went into voluntary administration. I only know this because I tried to contact them multiple times without success and after months of waiting finally got an email inviting me to a creditors meeting. After a few more weeks another email is received telling me my book won't be arriving nor will a refund. I understand they are back up and running under new ownership. I don't care, I won't be buying from them again, as far as I'm concerned they owe me $35 or the book.

Thieves. Never ever will I use Booktopia again.

I pre ordered a book through Booktopia in January 2024 which was to be released in a few months time. They went into receivership, came out of receivership and have cancelled the order however not refunded the $48.
Booktopia have said I have need to reverse the payment through my financial institution however it is outside the time threshold for this to happen.
Essentially Booktopia ripped me off $48.

DO NOT PURCHASE FROM BOOKTOPIA.

Have purchased my university text books on May 25th and company went into VOLUNTARY administration on July 3rd. No communication, clearly knew their course of action before I purchased my books online and yet had the ‘arrival
Date 14th July’. Conveniently right after administration.

PHONE DOESNT WORK. EMAILS ARNT ANSWERED FOR MONTHS, THEN FIND THE LINK TO ADMINISTRATION.

I purchased 14 books two months ago, to take it overseas for my workshops and just found out they can't send the items. I called them one month ago and they promised will send it and all was untrue, I am so stress now!!!

They took my money, made promises they couldn't keep, didn't send the item, didn't refund the money, absolutely criminal organisation
