Poor fruit & Veg Overpriced products, never listen to customer feedback.

I have been a customer for more than 20 years,
as caterer i have used a lot of different branches all over the UK. booker is good for dried goods & cleaning products, but its fruit & veg is overpriced [could buy cheaper in my local Waitrose] & tasteless, meat not much better, I think the managers hide in their offices & let the poor floor staff deal with customers when I have a problem no manager to be found, was bad before Tight Tesco bought it now much worse, lucky we have Costco nearby

After being a loyal customer for 35 years today I was refused entry as the account was in the previous business owners name. I have asked over the years for this to be changed with no success. I live on the other side of the city and was told I needed to travel home and set up a new account - even though many of the staff recognised me. If this is the way you are going to treat loyal customers I will take my business elsewhere in the future. Terrible company. Avoid at all costs if you can.

Bad treatment of 20 year customer

My mum has been a customer for 20 years. During the pandemic, due to being medically vulnerable, she was not able to go to this store in Bath. When I went for her this week, they said her account didn't exist. They said when it hasn't been used for a long time, it's automatically cancelled. I asked if they let customers know, to check to see if the customer is happy to close the account. They said they do not. So without notifying my mum, they cancelled her account. They said they had no record of it, despite my having her old Bookers card, and my saying that she'd been a customer for 20 years. She is now unable to renew her account. Mad system and v disappointing, especially as I had reached the check out till with a full trolly when they told me this. So I just had to leave, they wouldn't let me pay. The woman was perfectly nice, just a mad policy to not contact a customer and terminate their account with no notification.

Tesco should be ashamed

In my opinion, Tesco should be ashamed to maintain such low customer service. Since attending this cash and carry I have sold all my Tesco shares. If Tesco/Booker management can't organise a structure like this, what future can Tesco have in the retail industry? Subsidized or bankruptcy !!!

Closing accounts because of the pandemic

From what i saw today who ever made the follow decision needs to look for a different job.

I haven't been to Bookers during the current pandemic due to reason. Im sure a lot of people haven't. I go today and try to check in and it rejects me. I get told to try again, i get the same response. So the receptionist try and i het told my account has been closed due to not going during the pandemic. Which I'm sorry that is a poor excuse to close a customers account.

I then try to nicely ask questions in which the receptionists responds “theres no point in having a go at me”….. she has a bit of an attitude at this point.

She try's to tell me they mainly deal only with retail to which i tell her “i bet you also deal with a lot restaurants, and they haven't been able open during the pandemic so are you telling me that bookers have closed all the restaurants accounts?” I get no response.

The receptionist told me they had got stricter in closing accounts during the pandemic which honestly is disgraceful when a lot of companies weren’t allowed to open. But i suppose it will bookers loss, lets just hope these companies take their business else where to a better company who know how to treat their customers better!

I could understand closing accounts if there was no pandemic and they hadn't been in over 12 months.

I for one will not be opening another account with a company that don't seem to have any sort of thought process when it comes to customer loyalty.

Just visited Nuneaton

Just visited Nuneaton. WHAT A SHAMBLES! No staff on reception line items continue to be reduced. Checkout operators. Who put heavy items on top of lettuce. Rude staff. Then to cap it all. I'm told they no longer accept cash after 5 because the staff don't get paid after 5 but I had to queue for the 1 checkout operators whilst the remaining staff chatted and got ready to dive out the door at you've guessed 10secs after the 5pm curfew. What a f........ joke the Nuneaton branch is. They've lost 50% of my business which I now use ALDI for if only ALDI would set up a trade team. Better pricing and far better customer service

Don’t ever use this company , they employ people who are criminals.

an employee at the south elmsall branch is a know abuser of women ( control , physical and domestic abuse ) a rapist , a genuine wrecker of lives. Yet he’s perfectly fine when a man stands up to him.

0 stars for this company would still not be enough

I'd like to give zero stars

I'd like to give zero stars, but hey ho. Anyway I've been using booker since 2006 and monday when my order went in.. I thought it'd be delivered as usual Wednesday. Well, nothing came, they took my order but not my money so I thought something went wrong. I rang my store (Harrogate) to find out. A few hours later someone rang me back to say they weren't coming to me anymore. 😳. No explanation, just not coming anymore, although I always hit the min order, paid before delivery and was flexible if they needed to change my day. Us small businesses have kept wholesalers, like bookers, going throughout covid +. I've been using them for 16 years, consistently, and this is how you pay us back. Absolutely raging over this company.
I rang the head office this afternoon to tell them what happened.... They said they will look into it and get back to me. I don't think it's going to help me get deliveries back though. I suppose I'll just get a flimsy explanation 🙁
Update.... Just had a call from area manager... Even if they delivered next door they won't come to me because I'm retail not catering 😂 the business manager needs sacking

All you small businesses that Booker have used and abused... Try Pioneer they are GREAT.

Wholesaler hijack??

It would seem that since Tesco took Bookers over they have an agenda that a lot of convenience retailers are not aware of - charges of £35 per delivery plus a minimum order level of £1000 excluding tobacco and Vat as opposed to a minimum order of £100 if you are hospitality or a cafe seems pretty random until you realise Tesco have an ulterior motive in terms of impacting severely on smaller convenience stores - erradication of the opposition. Maybe the Competitiion and Mergers Authority needs to have a good hard look at Bookers results and it's indebtedness to Tesco since aquisition by Tesco and a good hard look at their marketplace practices.
Deletion of all chilled ready meals - something that convenience stores supply, that are relied upon by consumers, would also seem to be a recently adopted strategy.

Waste of space of a company

Had a company membership through makro which booker took over. Some years done the line now covid kicks in and I was using a different branch which has now been closed down and only found out by chance after having to be cautious with covid due to health issues. Tried to go back to the original branch which is mile out of my wat to be told card has been cancelled. Contacted customer services head office basically told tough hasn't been used in a year apply for a new one or sling your hook. Complete waste of time needs shut down for their total disregard for customer safety during difficult times

I have no issues with the shop or the staff who work on the shopfloor. I have a problem with the development manager, Anish who works in Bradford and Leeds Bookers. He is abusing his position using Bookers name to make fraudulent money for himself. He is a bully. He will take finance out on your name with a third party without your consent. Please be careful.
