Went to bookers/macro Rayleigh on…

Went to bookers/macro Rayleigh on 28/11/2023, as was told by email, I had 30 days to keep my account on 18/11/2023, only to be told my account had been closed, the lady helping me apologised and said “ You’re not the only one this as been done to”. Poor business practice and would not recommend to anybody. If you want my advice DO NOT BOTHER WITH THEM.

Bookers staff make trips great

I visit bookers on several occasions. The staff are great. From the top to the bottom.
Kieran and Gina deserve special mentions. They looked after me last week when I was not well. Kieran always willing to help load my goods for me. His politeness deserves a special mention.
Well done Bookers Scarborough.

What is the point of Bookers any more

So, having used Booker for nearly 8 years for my business, I feel eminently qualified to comment on the service that I have experienced, and it really has to be a huge negative for many reasons.
1. Prices. I always from a young age envied those who had access to the rarified atmosphere of the cash and carry account holders world, thinking it was an alladins cave of super prices, not available to mere mortals outside the catering and retail world. Who was I kidding. Virtually every single product I buy now, is cheaper in countless normal high Street supermarkets. So what is the point of Bookers.
2. Stock. Hardly ever has all the items I require, so have to re invent menus on the fly to compensate.
3. Customer service......zero especially since Tesco took over. It really is not a friendly place to be anymore, and I get the impression that staff are anything but happy there.
So to sum up.....quite simply, what is the point of Bookers any more. Answers on a postage stamp, if there are any.

They let down schools too

Working at a school, we have deliveries from this company in Aldershot. The manager is rude to our staff and we have never had a consistent delivery. To add, the only people they really let down are our kids. Disgusting.

Supermarkets are cheaper

After recently having my account closed because "I did not spend enough money, I was not perturbed as I can buy most of what I want from supermarkets that are much cheaper. How is it that a wholesaler can be more expensive than a retail supermarket? Staff at my local branch in any case are rude and arrogant.

VERY UNRELIABLE

They never, never deliver my prawns, every week I have a delivery, and they never deliver the prawns but then I go to the same store on the same day of my delivery and there are prawns on the shelf...
Today, I just got a delivery after my breakfast service, with milk that expires TODAY! AND 2kg of greek yoghurt that expired two days ago.... Also, I have my delivery time booked to come every week before 10am.... they never do! to the point that many weeks they come in the middle of the lunch service...
I do not know what is going on with this branch but the service overall is very poor, it is so unreliable that is extremely frustrating, to the point that we might have to result in looking for an alternative supplier as I find my Booker branch is neither consistent or reliable.

Own Brand is poor quality

Own Brand is poor quality. The Booker own brand goods are poor quality. When I email with feedback that the ingredients are not visible because of the way goods are packed, I was told all the information is online, so I should check before I shop. Who is going to check the ingredients of each item they wish to purchase beforehand online? I expect to be able to pick up an item and see and trust a brand. If I ever use them again I will only buy well known branded goods. They need to take responsibility for the sugar content in foods. drinks etc not just tell me to check.

Poor an so many levels

Pathetically bad staff and communication are the biggest problems Booker have, along with ridiculously high prices, and as a result, they are losing money customers would happily spend.

I’ve recently been told by 3 branches to ring the number in the invoice to request deliveries as they now come from MAKRO Liverpool where I am. I had to go back into 1 branch as the number on the invoice was wrong………no real surprise. I was advised on ringing I would hear back about deliveries within 5 days - unsurprisingly, I had to ring them back after 2 weeks to be told there are no slots.

I will say that the service and staff at Liverpool Booker is head and shoulders above Birkenhead, Chester and all other local branches, and their staff seem to know what they are doing, are helpful, and actually seem to care.

Ive gone over the last few years from 2 deliveries a week and around £600+ per week to 1 click and collect for average £250 per week, and that will further diminish as their pricing is ridiculous, for example, a bolognaise sauce has gone from £6.49 to £10.99? Cooking wine has gone from £2.99 to £12 in 4 years? They are absolutely profiteering on many products and are no longer convenient or cost effective. It’s quite obvious they are hiking prices as they are getting less customers, and we are living in a period where they can get away with it.

As I have to travel, I may as well use Costco for the bulk of my shopping as they have far better availability and pricing, and I generally don’t have to listen to their staff continually moan about the company they work for, and freely express this to customers……..always a huge red flag. This, however doesn’t seem to happen in the Liverpool branch……….so not surprisingly their service is far better than other depots.

Booker Wimbledon:

Booker Wimbledon:
Account transferred here from another store as it closed. Original store I could not fault the service but Wimbledon, I have been with them for 2 weeks and I have raised three complaints all of which no response/refund received.
Very poor management.

Firstly I have to say the single star…

Firstly I have to say the single star is no reflection on the staff at my local branch (Birkenhead) they are helpful and friendly...although they are few in number! My beef is that after almost 30 years trading with Booker as my main supplier they have been relegated behind Costco, Bestway and a raft of online wholesalers...even ALDI and LIDL now get more of my money than Booker! The stock is sporadic at best in some areas, Marsbars no longer feature in Booker World and the crisp and snack selection is rarely the same 2 days running. Since being acquired by Tesco the prices have skyrocketed. The fruit and veg is dreadful, the grated cheese is more expensive than my local Tesco Express, as are the mushrooms. Of the £8-10k I was spending with Booker prior to Covid they now get £3.5k at best. Shame on you Tesco, you may know your stuff when it comes to retail but you have no idea how to run a wholesale business.....I'm glad I sold my shares...

Just had a delivery from them & the driver left two cages outside in the rain, the driver told me its there new policy just to drop off cages & and its up to me to bring everything in, out of the rain at 69 years old with a Heart condition, he said he would pickup the empty cages up on the way back. is this really new policy if it is then its about time this was looked into.

Would like to ask why suddenly you are…

Would like to ask why suddenly you are packing alcohol deliveries in "THICK PLASTIC" I'm sure a recycled cardboard box would be adequate, as thick plastic is not environmentally friendly, and being a large company, owned by Tescos would have thought this would have been a priority

I’ve worked for booker for along time…

I’ve worked for booker for along time and I can tell you from experience they treat there staff like something they stepped in. As soon as they got what they need from that employee and then say something to 1 or a few managers they don’t like they will then get some manager from another branch and look for a way to get rid of even if it means getting people to make up things in a statement about you and then not use that because just in case that doesn’t work they try anyway they can 14 years complete tosses
