Great Staff, Great Prices, Great Work.

I would just like to take the time to thank all the staff at Bongo Spares ltd for all the help and advice they give me. I have had a Rock n Roll Bed and new floor and Lino fitted yesterday by Bongo Spares and also bought a cabinet for the cooker and sink which came complete with the sink and 2 gas rings. I also bought a 12v fridge as well as other things I needed for the van. The staff were brilliant and the price was also great. Thanks to them I will now be able to go away for nights away without having to take the awning with me to sleep in. I would highly recommend them to everyone.

—-RIPOFF MERCHANT AT THEIR BEST —-

The time as finally arrived to leave a genuine BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY a REAL review of this company!

The review below is based upon our experience (weeks ago). We have waited till now as we wanted to give this business the time and opportunity to rectify, which unfortunately as you’re reading this was not the case (as their usual).

The below reviews mirrors the experience we had at the so called Bongo Spares LTD Garage - Unit 5, Rishworth Business Complex, Holme House Ln, Rishworth, Sowerby Bridge HX6 4EW.

After multiple contacts via emails and other platform the business use we decided to book our bongo in with them for some maintenance work.

We have owned our Bongo since import 4 years ago and we have looked after it really well without any money spared.

After an hour or so of dropping it with them we received a call from the owner, GEORGE who said our Bongo was in a terrible state and needed a LOT of work which included extensive welding work.

He stated the van wouldn’t pass an MOT and we were looking at around £4000 in repairs which included around £2500 in welding work.

We kindly advised that he wouldn’t see it fit fit the work and BUT could offer us £500 to take it off our hands. Yeah right!

This completely shocked us, our Bongo till now had been looked after by another Bongo specialist and main importer. The whole chassis had recently been fully cleaned and sealed by a very reputable underseal and rust specialist in Scotland.

After careful consideration with my partner we informed the garage that we were not going to go ahead with any repairs quoted and we made our way back to collect the vehicle.

The attitude of the whole team changed and they became very rude and very unprofessional when they leaned we were not going to give them the £4000 they had quoted.

They still charged us around £350 for the ‘routine check’ and inspection and because apparently we had lost their time!

We then contacted another garage who also are Bongo and Freda specialist and booked in a full inspection with them and guess what ?

Our Van passed the MOT the day after after having a total welding bill of £250 which included a repair on an area in the sills and wheel arch. Quite a difference from the £2000 quoted by the above, and another £250 for some discs and pads.

Please note the second garage in question only did the MOT inspection and prep, the MOT was carried out by a separate centre at at a cost of £40 not the £80 bongo spares charges.

Unfortunately it’s very hard to find honest reviews on how this company really operates on their workshop and sale departments, most of the reviews are based upon their second hand parts selling and scraps.

It’s very easy to obtain positive reviews in selling second hand parts.

Please note they won’t offer any guaranties on any parts sold BUT will be very happy to take your money, anything happens guess what?

DO A QUICK SEARCH ON TRUST PILOT for some interesting reading and speak to Bongo owners on festivals etc and see for yourself.

The way this business operates it’s shocking.

The staff it’s definitely trained by the main man to NOT give any proper YES or NO answers to any query or questions asked they instead go around and make a very small talk on the subject so not give a concise answer, should have been politicians.

They do all this so you have no coming backs if something goes wrong after they’ve done any work pr of you bought anything from them. They have never admitted to anything so….

They won’t give any guarantees on any work or service. Always blaming something else but never again admitting anything they’d done wrong.

All of the above is a summarisation of our direct experience and others who unfortunately have been ripped off by this company.

We will do our best to share this as we worked directly with many UK digital creators. Bongos are getting thinner as the time passes, Bongo Spares (BS sounds way better) will soon have to find another field to steal from people.

Bongo Spares as you were not interested in replying to any of my communication please carry on doing the same and don’t bother trying to contact me now either.

I’m sure they will just rely to this review doing what they do best = lying and not admitting any liabilities!

All the best for your future

Disappointed and sad. At the beginning of 2025 my husband…

At the beginning of 2025 my husband telephoned Bongospares to discuss bringing our Bongo up to them. He told them we wanted to book it in for a full service and for the MOT. He made it clear that we would travelling up from Devon and would be staying locally for the week, so that there would be adequate time for our Bongo to get everything all fixed up before heading home again.

Our Bongo was booked in for Monday April 28th at 9am. I emailed a couple of times before that date to confirm that we had booked holiday accommodation locally and to let them know we needed a new cover for the fog light and that a bracket on the anti-roll bar needed fixing, in addition to anything that might come up in the MOT & service. We also asked if it would be possible to borrow a courtesy car while we were up there and were told they couldn't say for certain - which was fair enough.

We travelled up the day before & took our bongo into the garage just before 9am on the Monday as arranged. The mechanic said he'd have a look over her & let us know what we were looking at. We went to a really nice cafe a few minutes away to wait for the call. At 9.34am my husband had a call from the mechanic saying it was really bad, the rocker cover & cam seals needed doing, plus a few other things. Well my husband expressed some surprise as we'd had that exact work carried out just less than a year before at their garage! The mechanic said he'd check again. We left the cafe & walked round to the garage again & the mechanic said he'd been mistaken & it was oil residue. He still insisted there was lots of welding & made out they'd struggle to get it all done by the end of the week. My husband explained we were heading back on Friday. We were amazed about the welding as we've had thousands of £'s of work done on our bongo over the last 3 years, including a whole body respray & rebuild and Bongospares had done the underseal the year before too. He said he'd have to cancel the MOT & would struggle to get the work done. They did let us borrow a courtesy bongo though. We left the garage feeling perplexed & worried but went and put half a tank of fuel in it as we thought we'd be using it for the rest of the week.

Imagine our complete surprise to get a call the following morning at 9.37am, to say all the work was done (MOT, Sevice & welding!) and we could come & pick her up when we were ready!

We went directly to the garage from Heptonstall. My husband paid £1420. As we tried driving away it became clear that the steering wheel was not centred, the track rod ends had been done, so we returned to the garage. There was no way we could drive over 300 miles home like that. The main man said he'd put it right immediately, which he did but we were left with a judder all the way back & had to get the tracking done once home.

It wasn't until later on reading the paperwork that I saw they'd only done a Bronze service, which is very basic & not what we wanted. We went to some effort in communicating with the garage so that they knew we were coming a long way especially to use them as Bongo experts and wanted our Bongo to have as much done as possible. We are very disappointed with the service we received & were rather confused by the info we received whilst we were there. There seems to be some communication issues in-house. Needless to say we won't be going back, which is a great shame as we were prepared to travel the distance in order to get the best for our Bongo.

Consistently excellent service from…

Consistently excellent service from Bongo Spares Ltd. Super quick delivery, reasonable prices, and excellent communication. Its often said that the measure of a company is when things go wrong, and I wholeheartedly recommend the team for their patience and understanding. I will, without doubt, be using them for many years.

Bongo Bongo would have been the apt…

Bongo Bongo would have been the apt name of this company had they been Italian. I am assured that nothing that I could say would detract from the high esteem in which this company is held by its customers. I ordered a part for a Bongo for which I was promised next day express delivery for £20. The item did not arrive and when I queried this I was told that the courier had not turned up. The item then arrived 4 days later but it was damaged, not in transit but prior to packing. When I expressed my disappointment with this and asked for a replacement to be sent that day there was a initial agreement but this was countermanded. Ultimately, I had to make the 2hr round trip to return this part. In the interim, I confirmed independently via EBay messaging that next day delivery was the norm. That is if there are “no crashes on the motorway” “you cannot expect us to fly over them”. When I checked the tracking of the item that I did receive, it had only been ordered with the courier 4 days later than the date on which the order was placed and in response to my enquiry. Had I bought on the eBay platform, things would have been simpler to manage.
I was described as being rude in my conversations on the phone when I expressed dissatisfaction about the missed despatch, being misinformed and then the receipt of the damaged part. This resulted in the prolonged loss of use of the vehicle for the owner? The senior person at Bongo Spares prevented the effort to remedy the situation and speed up the repair of the vehicle.
The parting shot was that it was “minimal damage” to the part and it “would go back on the shelf”. The part was a hydraulic pipe for the automatic transmission. This is not something that I could compromise on when it cost £122 and was not my vehicle.
