i’ve been using b&k boilers for years…

i’ve been using b&k boilers for years and they have never disappointed!! all the staff are super friendly and are always so helpful on explaining on everything they do.
would highly recommend b&k boiler services!!

Double check hourly rate on your bill

Engineers were great but noticed on bill hourly rate was higher than quoted both by email on the day also on the day by their admin staff that I spoke to in the morning. When I queried this I was informed that the higher hourly rate was an elevated rate because of the Christmas period . This was 30th December. This was the first time I had been told this . They eventually agreed to charge what they had quoted on more than one instance only 2 hours earlier. This has spoiled the impression I had of this company when the engineers had left . They are being let down by poor customer service from the office staff .

During the Christmas period our breakdown charges are inflated due to an engineer working ‘out of hours’, the prices were increased by £12 from 24th December to 2nd January and we apologise that this wasn’t changed when booking online. As soon as you informed us the online booking had quoted our standard price, we credited back the £12 immediately.
We hope to be able to work with you again and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Poor Customer Service

The experience with B&K Boilers was mixed. Both engineers we saw were great, but the Customer Service is abysmal and is not in line with the service. We had the first engineer (Jason) out to repair a leak -he was diligent and really professional. Regrattably within a few days the leak reocurred in the same spot on the pipe (where a stopcock serviced a hob), so I requested a return visit. This was on a Friday evening and went to their out-of-hours team. The first person we spoke with said someone would come out no problem, then on the Saturday the engineer allocated spoke to us on the phone and said he had no parts left and all he'd do was cut off out supply if he came - he was totally disinterested in resolving the fault. We were left with a gas leak or no heating so we cancelled him for obvious reasons. I took another afternoon off work (after about six weeks of worrying) and requested we have the original engineer back as he could see the issue from the first callout. I was told I couldn't request him; I'd get whoever they allocate. The next guy (Hamish) was great and the issue seems to be resolved now. However, I expected (as this call should have been resolved on the first callout) that there wouldn't be a huge cost. The bill was about £250 in total from both callouts and all that actually needed replacing was a little stopcock servicing one hob. The real problem arose when I qustioned the bill for our second visit and asked for a call from the manager to discuss it. Matthew - the manager duly called back. I can honestly say this man's attitude and rudeness was breathtaking - he persistently spoke over me and refused to allow me to explain why I was disattisfied with the bill. When I said I couldn't believe how rude he was to a customer he said "you're not being polite to me - it's two-way!" From the get-go he was defensive and aggressive. I paid the bill and asked the girl on the desk for the owners name so I could write a formal complaint and was told to write to Matthew. I said I wanted to complain about Matthew and wanted the name of someone more senior. She said she didn't know, then after pushing I got "Mark" but she refused to give a surname "I feel uncomfortable with that". It was unbelieveable. Had the engineers themselves not been great, there would be no stars - the customer service from the office is utterly appalling. The weekday engineers are great - their office team & weekend call-out service was really awful. It felt as though they were just after as much money as possible and were totally disinterested with their customers.

Follow up from response: The information in the response is untrue and a manipulation of both the timeline and facts. When one complains to this company there is no professionalism. Their statement below has further reinforced how utterly awful their attitude is.

We initially attended to a reported gas leak which SGN attended and capped gas at the meter. Our engineer attended to find the leak with a view of making the repair which was carried out. A final tightness test was carried out upon completion of works with a digital gauge and reported back as no pressure drop.
Following our engineers’ findings, he recommended we return to your property to replace the gas isolation valve. We were advised by yourself that this was not required so no further bookings were created at this time (03/10/2024).
Approximately 2 weeks after the visit, our out of hours engineer received a call advising the smell of gas had returned, he advised he was un-able to repair the leak that late in the evening, but we will be able to isolate the supply to make it safe. By this point you refused a visit from our engineer stating that you could turn the gas off yourself.
We then received a call from you asking for the isolation valve to be replaced which were non-urgent works and were booked in for the following week, you proceeded to demand a specific date, time and engineer which at this time of year is very difficult for us to do. (13/11/2024).
We agreed a date and time of arrival explaining the cost of materials and continuation charge for labour for the visit, which was accepted and agreed to by yourself (20/11/2024).
we both agree that the engineers carried out the required works in a professional and timely manner and once all the works were completed, we contacted you for the outstanding balance. You then became aggressive to the admin staff which we have zero tolerance for so then the call was escalated to management to which the aggression continued. All our office staff are trained for customer interaction; however, they do not expect to be spoken to with such disrespect and hostility.

Good service

We have used B&K for many years and found them efficient, reliable and trustworthy.
Yesterday they replaced our boiler. They came promptly. Their engineers were courteous and helpful. So far everything is working well. We have always had good service from them.

Very happy with customer service…

We have used b and k for our new boiler fitted 2 years ago and have the yearly check under the warranty. All communication with b and k is brilliant and have found the engineer we had a few weeks ago very helpful and friendly. He even took his time to show me how to turn my gas off outside incase of an emergency and that to do which I was compleltly clueless about. I have found customer service very good and reccomend

Excellent Service from B&K Boiler Services

I’ve been a loyal customer of B&K Boiler Services for over 30 years, and they’ve never let me down. They installed a new boiler for me 12 years ago, and since then, they've been maintaining it with the same professionalism I’ve come to expect. At my last service, I was advised that the boiler was reaching the end of its life, but I decided to hold off on replacing it at that time.
Earlier this summer, they reached out to me with an offer on new boilers, knowing my existing one was aging. I appreciated that they were proactive but not pushy. When I inquired about what they had available, their response was prompt and thorough. They gave me balanced advice, explaining the pros and cons of both conventional and combi boilers without pressuring me to make a decision. After careful consideration, I decided to go with a combi boiler.
Throughout the installation process, B&K Boiler Services kept me fully informed about the schedule and ensured I had access to water during the work. The installation itself was smooth, though we had a couple of minor hiccups. They initially had the wrong control card for my shower, which caused a slight delay, and there was a small leak when I first turned on the heating due to a pipe being left unconnected. However, in both instances, they resolved the issues promptly and professionally.
Despite these minor problems, the team worked efficiently and tidily, and when the job was completed, the final charge matched the original estimate with no hidden surprises.
I highly recommend B&K Boiler Services for their reliability, expertise, and customer care. They’ve earned my trust over the years, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone in need of boiler services.

GREAT SERVICE

B&K couldn’t have been more helpful when providing documents for my late father’s boiler installation. Ann was more than helpful and provided what was needed straight away.
My father always recommended this Company for the installation and service and I now know why.

B&K Boilers the installation went very well and everything
is in working order for the water.
I have not used heating to date but from the initial tests all were working.

Very Happy Customer

B&K Boiler Services fitted my new combi boiler 16 months ago. Recently it became noisy & eventually stopped working.
The staff at B&K are always efficient & helpful & sorted out a date for repair.
Due to the time of year & volume of work I did have to wait a few days but then engineer Jason came out.
He fixed the problem & explained very clearly exactly why it had happened & what to do should it occur again.
He was extremely thorough, efficient & a very pleasant personality. My mind was put at rest & I now feel 10yrs younger!!😊

Where to start

Er Where to start! Do not interact with this company! I have a boiler with pipe work that has been condemned by two insurance engineers and two independent gas engineers from the gas safety register. We are pensioners with serious illnesses who have been sitting in the cold for over three weeks now. We cannot get a free boiler on the government scheme as the ruined boiler is a condensing boiler. Basically a roof tile was left off the roof when they installed the flue, and the condensing pipe has no fall ( as confirmed by their own engineer who attended my oroperty in January 2018), we then had to vacate the property for a week and they wanted to charge us for putting the work right! Now after their MD visiting today he tried every tactic to wiggle out of the reports in writing from engineers who have attended, and will not give me a copy of their own engineers report from January 2018. Why is that? I want a copy and asked when he returned to the office to email me a copy. It’s not happened, what does he think he can hide? Are the four gas engineers who have attended all wrong. All different companies. I don’t think so. Is it fraudulent to destroy a document that you have clearly read in my home today, but won’t provide? There’s good reason why he won’t provide it, as he knows the work didn’t comply under the goods and service act. I have now contacted the relevant ombudsman, Meridian News and trading standards as the work concerned fails under the supply of goods and service act. The work needs rectifying before the boiler can be repaired or a new one installed. We don’t have the funds for a new boiler, or to rectify the work needed before any PROFESSIONAL engineer would install a new boiler. How do people sleep at night knowing that you are leaving pensioners in the cold? It’s all beyond me,

Our home is for sale for financial reasons, and now what chance of selling in the winter months with no working boiler? Angry, dismayed and upset. Karma one thinks!

Update re reply today:

Please explain as to why you will still not send me a copy of your own engineers report damming your installation? Are five further gas safety engineers also reporting the installation is incorrect wrong! You have the insurers engineers reports! I will await Gas Safety to investigate. You are playing on us not using you for service, after you told me that whoever had done our service should have picked up the incorrect pipe work. Please explain as to why your own engineers didn’t? I will not have you try and pull the wool over my eyes. I will contact gas safety again now! Your denial of supply the report will now become a legal matter.

With regards to your review, I (Matthew) attended your property on Friday the 17th November to look at the installation of your boiler, to see what the issues were. Looking over the install I can confirm the condense has been installed as per the manufacturer’s instructions and could not see any problems. Your boiler was fitted in January 2013, nearly 11 years ago and has not been serviced by us for 8 years. You advised us that the boiler had been serviced by others over this time with no faults found. We provided you with an installation warranty for 2 years from the date of the installation which has now expired.

Fast, efficient, service.

My very old boiler finally packed up at 7am on the 8th of November. By 11am that morning an engineer had called to assess the situation and quote for a replacement. The full quote was received one hour later with a promise that the new boiler could be replaced the very next day - unbelievable, I was expecting to have had to wait days if not weeks. Amazing service!

The two plumbers who came to replace the boiler were courteous and polite, efficient and tidy.

I would thoroughly recommend B&K Boiler Services.

Very trustworthy, highly recommended
