I freaked out

I freaked out. For what ever reason I was not able to access my account with my master password. I sent in a service request and got AN IMMEDIATE RESPONSE. Knowing about the vagaries of large systems I knew to wait a while and try again. Success! Bitwarden's response gave me faith that the situation would be resolved, one way or another.

Bitwarden would not sync even after the maintenance window. Tech Support looked into issue and a short while later “try it now” - meaning their server side issue had been resolved.

Sure enough, database sync was back.

Great product and service

I have been a premium subscriber for about a month as I wanted to use the TOTP feature. Twice I required assistance with a minor billing issue and then with TOTP registration that did not work as expected. The support was quite fast and knowledgeable and polite when I suggested a steps’ rewording improvement . I highly recommend their service . All the best, thank you

Excellent Password Manager with Room for Improvement

Bitwarden is one of the best password managers available, offering robust security, open-source transparency, and an intuitive user experience. Its cross-platform availability and seamless synchronization make it easy to manage passwords and sensitive data across devices. The free tier is remarkably generous, and the premium version provides excellent value with features like encrypted file storage and TOTP generation.

However, there are some downsides. The lack of direct payment options through Google is inconvenient for users who prefer seamless in-app transactions on Android. Additionally, some features, such as advanced settings and detailed reports, are only accessible through the web vault, which feels limiting for users who rely heavily on the mobile app.

Overall, Bitwarden is a solid choice for anyone looking for a secure and affordable password manager. With improvements to the Android app and better integration for payments, it could easily become unbeatable in the market.

Beware: Passwords stop working - vaults disappear and then come back

A number of the recent reviews look like they are bot generated to push the real reviews below the line. So here's a real report on what we have experienced with Bitwarden...

We have had multiple occasions across multiple staff where Bitwarden states an invalid username / password then despite no change, starts working again, days or weeks or months later. Despite no change to the computer or the passwords.
The support does respond and they do try. I've been through them multiple times and they always ask me to do a bunch of things, try this...clear that...reinstall...This generally doesn't work and then they want me to provide a list of info which in itself is time consuming for something that should just work.

Even when we can access the platform itself, we have also had vaults which disappear randomly and then re-appear again.

The effect this has on our business is that to varying degrees, the staff end up employing work arounds which may compromise security. Additionally, we can't respond to customer queriers efficiently which increases the costs of providing our service and in some cases we are unable to calculate the charges we should be passing on to our customers because we can't access the platforms we need to obtain that data.

The system seems so fragile, that we then end up petrified that if we do anything it will completely delete the vaults and completely remove the credentials we have stored in it, causing a major administrative issue.

The net effect of this is that you end up stuck paying the bills for a service which doesn't work properly.

If you think I'm the only one having these issues, check their community board. Let's just say that it doesn't appear to be an isolated incident.

The warning here is that using this service poses a significant operational risk to your business. I have no reason to believe that there is any reason for concern with respect to the security of the data...In fact it's so secure, not even we can access it...(insert angry face emoji)

As mentioned, our experience is clearly not an isolated event and we have been experiencing these challenges for close to two years. This indicates that Bitwarden have had time to fix it and have either chosen not to or been incapable of fixing it (perhaps their zero knowledge encryption makes it difficult). Either way, as a customer, I don't really care. I pay and I want it to work....And it only does that sometimes...

If was an investor in this business, I would determine whether this was the CEO underinvesting in the tech despite the requests of the tech team in order to spike profits (and I would request that the board remove them) Or if I have had my CTO not responding to this issue in a timely manner, I would fire the CTO as the presence of these bugs fundamentally undermines the reason Bitwarden's customers pay for the service and they only retain that customer due to the fear of losing the data and the difficulty in accessing it to migrate it to another service.

As a paying customer I feel like a mug because 2 years or so later I'm still paying for a half developed, half working solution.

Lives up to its excellent reviews

I had been using LastPass for several years. After reading reviews that consistently rated Bitwarden as better than LastPass, I decided to give Bitwarden a try and agree with the reviews that rate Bitwarden so highly.

I asked Bitwarden's Support Team about a doubt that I had about the effectiveness of Bitwarden's 2FA. I received a comprehensive response by email within 24 hours which cleared my doubt.

Bitwarden has been a good experience.

After using LastPass for several years, I was tired of paying so much for it. I saw a recommendation for Bitwarden and gave it a try. The results were excellent. I had no problem moving my vault from LastPass to Bitwarden. I've found that Bitwarden is easier to use and does a better job of autofilling passwords. Setting up new usernames and passwords is quick and easy.

If you need a password manager (and you do), try Bitwarden. You won't be sorry.

Remedy To Bitwarden Bug

I was not able to access the Bitwarden vault after the last update for iOS. I contacted tech support and got a reply within a few minutes. I was advised to delete Bitwarden and then reboot my iPhone and reinstall Bitwarden. The app was working and I had access to the Bitwarden vault.

Quality product

Quality product, great support. I've switched to Bitwarden back when Lastpass went down the corporate rat hole. Bitwarden has proven to be robust and consistently improving for many years hence. I can't even recall ever running into a bug. When I say "improving", I mean getting better, without breaking existing features.

Great pricing, product and support!

There are very few companies these days that provide an excellent product, support and service for a low price while consistently innovating to become even better. Bitwarden is one of them.

I previously used LastPass. Their support was awful and a massive security breach proved that their backend was lacking. Bitwarden is the solution!

I have been using Bitwarden for a Decade now and not only has the product exceeded all my expectations, but the customer support when I have questions is quick, courteous and always answers my questions. I have even submitted a few suggestions which have been implemented. Thanks Bitwarden for exceeding all my expectations over the years! Literally couldn't sing higher praises for a company than this review for you.
