the most inaccessible, unfriendly, and near-useless library program I have ever used, featuring a reader less useful than options from around 20 years ago.
This bookstore seems to do everything it can to be as inaccessible as possible for people with ADHD or the visually impaired. The text reader is, without exaggeration, the single worst one I have EVER used. It is outdone by every stock reader I've come across from any operating system or browser. Even running on increased speed, it breaks the flow of the text between every sentence and line; it cannot even complete a single sentence without a multi-second pause, often multiple per sentence. It also reads EVERYTHING on the page, not just the relevant info to the course, including legal info in the margin (leading to a 55.23-second string of random numbers, dates, and useless legal information literally EVERY TIME it turns a page). It is even outdone by browser-based text-to-speech programs from 2006 in usefulness, consistency of flow, and efficiency(I am not joking; I tested them, Bibliu is categorically worse in most fields except individual word pronunciation than Cepstral's 2006 offerings that are nearly 20 years old.)
Here is a transcription to give a real example of how bad this reader is.
Electronic commerce began in the United States and for [2 second pause] many years was conducted primarily through [2 second pause] English-language Web sites. As you will learn in this [3-second pause] chapter, that has changed dramatically in recent [2-second pause] years.
The inability to copy and paste or even select a section of the text makes third-party reading programs totally useless.
Again, this library is borderline, or in some cases totally, unusable for people with ADHD, vision issues, or any condition that makes reading the text itself difficult. this program is so bad it just feels actively malicious.
