Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Extremely disappointing experience. No bikes, no delivery, no refund.

Absolutely terrible experience with Beach Bikes La Rochelle.

We booked 2 bikes for 5 days and paid €111 in advance. According to our booking confirmation, the bikes were supposed to be delivered to our hotel, Hôtel Les Brises in La Rochelle, on 18 July 2026.

The delivery never happened.

During the afternoon, we received a voicemail from Beach Bikes informing us that they could not deliver the bikes to our hotel and that we could collect them ourselves at Beach Bikes, supposedly near the bridge to Île de Ré.

As we still wanted to use the bikes, we took an Uber to the location. We arrived at approximately 5:35 PM, only to find that Beach Bikes was already closed, despite the stated opening hours indicating that they were open until 6:00 PM. Nobody was there and nobody could be reached by phone.

After searching for the correct address on Google, we discovered that the actual office was apparently located about 300 metres further away, on an industrial estate — not at the location we had been given. We went there as well, but once again the doors were closed and nobody was there. We checked both the front and the back of the premises.

We had no choice but to take another Uber back to our hotel.

The final result: €111 paid for two bicycles that we never received, never managed to collect and never had the opportunity to use — plus €66.69 in unnecessary Uber costs caused by the failed delivery and incorrect/incomplete information.

We contacted Beach Bikes immediately and requested a full refund. Their customer service initially replied that our complaint had been forwarded to the local shop in La Rochelle and that they would get back to us.

They never resolved the issue and we have still not received our refund.

This is simply unacceptable.

A company confirms a booking and payment, fails to deliver the service, sends the customer to collect the bikes themselves, provides inadequate information about where to go, is closed despite published opening hours, cannot be reached by phone, and then fails to provide a refund or a satisfactory solution.

We paid for a service that was never provided.

Based on our experience, I would strongly advise against using Beach Bikes La Rochelle. There are plenty of alternatives, and I would recommend choosing a bicycle rental company that can actually deliver what has been booked and paid for — and that takes responsibility when things go wrong.

One star only because Trustpilot does not allow zero stars.
