Many customers expressed significant dissatisfaction with the quality of the products, frequently mentioning issues like rotten vegetables, a lack of expected ingredients such as fish or meat, and an unpleasant taste described as watery or peppery. People also felt that the products offered poor value for money, especially given the perceived decline in quality compared to previous experiences. Some people were dissatisfied with the pricing, finding certain items to be excessively expensive, particularly when compared to supermarket own brands or considering the reduced quality. Reviewers also noted problems with the product's consistency, such as undercooked beetroot or pies that were difficult to remove from their tins without collapsing.

My last 4 tins of Baxters over priced soup.. Chicken Broth - rotten veg was found. Cockaleekie soup - soil grit found in the leeks because of the way they cut and prep the leeks. You are not suppose... See more

What a sad state of affairs for a once great brand. I imagined that my review would be at odds with the majority opinion. Instead, I can only repeat what has been written more eloquently elsewhere. S... See more

Baxter's own Fray Bentos Pies since 2011. I've been buying them for over 20 years, they've always been great value for money, plenty of lean meat, gravy and thick Puff pastry. Price hasn't varied much... See more

Absolute joke of a company

Absolute joke of a company, used to be really good but now they clearly don't care about their customers or product. Bought a tin of chicken broth for lunch and there was one measly piece of chicken in the whole watery slop they call soup,

RIP OFF PIES

Frey Bentos Steak and Kidney Pie should be called Frey Bentos Water and Gravy Slop, I think they are ripping customers off with their so called pies

A shame

Have bought Baxter’s soup since it first was sold.Had tin of leek and potato today and did not enjoy. I am looking for another brand now because it was not good enough.I am 92 and always bought baxter soup what went wrong. I fetched tin from bin to check it was Baxter’s just to be sure.

What happened to the quality ?

Bought a can of Baxter’s Minestrone soup in mid December with no pasta in it whatsoever. Not sure if it was a faulty batch.
Very watery and flavourless too.
Emailed them and they said they would send through a Baxter’s voucher as a gesture of good will. Never received it.
Sign of the times unfortunately.

Baxters Minestrone

Baxters Minestrone. What happened???? It was always my favourite, bought it regularly. Now it tastes like tomato cup-a-soup - cheap and nasty. I see my experience isn't the only one. What's going on at Baxters? It is definitely not an improved recipe.

New Recipe Baxters Cream of Tomato soup - YUK

Just opened a tin of Baxters new & improved Cream of tomato soup recipe. What a disappointment! The tomato flavour is now so tangy and over powering that I wont be buying it again. The original recipe was far superior to other tinned brands, It was creamy and flavoursome but now it tastes like the Heinz slop!
Baxters you've lost another customer.

Not Souper

I have just poured away the larger part of a can of Baxters Royal Game soup.
I don't eat/drink oxtail or Brown Windsor soup because I don't like the taste or feel of either and they always look so unappetising. Baxters Royal Game soup is worse than either!
It really didn't taste of anything much, certainly not game, but the feeling in my mouth was very gelatinous - like I imagine a half-boiled donkey would feel on its way to being turned into glue.
I urge no-one else to go through what I went through and Baxters to trace all retailers and have them withdraw it from sale.

Souper it is definitely not.

I love your soup range and they are…

I love your soup range and they are really good to help me when I've lost my appetite due to my health problems. I particularly love your minestrone. Which is like a meal in itself. But there is one small problem, in my opinion and that is the peas you use. They are hard on the outside and then powdery when you bite in to them. May I recommend an alternative. Why not swap the peas for sweetcorn. They would provide even more colour and a touch of sweetness. I understand factory processes cooking the soups and believe the swap wouldn't cause you any major changes. You will always be my choice when buying my groceries even with this high inflation we are all suffering. Thankyou so much for a top quality product x dinky rogers

Another disappointed customer!

Oh dear Baxters, you've turned your Ministrone soup into a watery standard based vegetable drink with penne pasta in it...yet another company's standards gone. I'm making my own soups from now on at half the price and double the quality! You need consumer feedback to improve your product before going under....

Country Garden soup

Country Garden soup
Finely diced carrot and potato, a few peas, some rice, but mainly watery liquid. They must make a huge profit on such cheap ingredients. Not a satisfying lunch and poor value for money. Will not be buying again.

Highland broth, more like highland sloth

I cracked open a can of good ol Baxters, hoping to satisfy my sore throat. Much to my dismay, I was not awarded with the promised 1.5% beef or mutton, I'd dare say there was barely 1%. As for the handfuls of veg, it was neither succulent or packed with flavour. Please avoid this brand at all costs.

P.S. there is such a thing as to much pearl barley
