Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the customer service, finding it unreliable, unhelpful, and difficult to reach. Customers frequently encountered issues with staff, describing them as unhelpful and providing incorrect information. The booking process was often problematic, with unexpected changes and difficulties in making reservations. Reviewers also felt that the pricing, especially for baggage, was misleading and ultimately more expensive than anticipated. Some people, however, found the legroom to be spacious and the air crew friendly on certain flights. A few customers also reported smooth flights with pleasant staff and even appreciated the provision of water and a bun on shorter journeys, which is uncommon for low-cost carriers.

Friendly flight crew but awful flight app

We used Batik air for a connecting flight between Bali and Singapore. Their app is next to useless (we tried to increase and pay for our luggage allowance and this was impossible to do as it didn't accept UK £ currency), we then tried to log on to check into our flight and that was impossible. Thankfully, once at Bali international we had printed off our tickets etc and were able to manually check in and after explaining and demonstrating the apps failures, we were able to check our excess luggage in without additional charges.
The flight itself was on time, smooth and uneventful, flight crew were pleasant but out pre-booked and paid meals a sham, we didn't get what we paid for and what we did get was unrecognisable. Would I fly them again, no, I recommend paying the extra and fly SingaporeAir or Scoot to Bali.

I have travelled with airline 3 times…

I have travelled with airline 3 times and have been delayed every time. First was 8 hours and the other 2 was for 2 hours. I travel long hall flight from Heathrow to Perth in Australia and unfortunately I only have the option to travel with Batik air from kalulumpa as it was the cheapest.i travelled with Omar Air for first 2 legs of journey.Omar Air were excellent. Last leg was a 5.5 hours flight . On all 3 flights with Batik air there was no food, drink or tv/video .wanted to charge me for a bottle of water. Worse airline in the world in my humble opinion.avoid at all costs. I will pay extra next time to not fly with Batik air

Refund Denied Despite Flexi Ticket & One-Month Advance Cancellation

I am extremely disappointed with Batik Air’s handling of my refund.

When booking, I specifically chose the Flexi Economy option because it clearly stated that refunds were allowed (with a fee). I later cancelled the unused portion of my return ticket almost one month in advance, well before the scheduled travel date.

The total amount paid for the return ticket was USD 1,913.10. Despite cancelling early and having entire flights completely unused, Batik Air refunded only USD 189.40, which is about 19% of the total amount paid. In other words, Batik Air kept over 81% of my money, even though the ticket was cancelled far in advance and marketed as refundable.

After months of follow-ups, Batik Air eventually stated that the ticket was considered “partially used” and therefore non-refundable, refunding only airport taxes. No fare rules, refund breakdown, or documentation were provided to justify why a Flexi Economy ticket with unused sectors resulted in such a minimal refund.

What made this experience worse:

Refund request submitted on 7 November

Promised processing time of 30 days, which was exceeded by months

Repeated generic responses with no resolution

No transparency on refund calculation or applicable fare rules

This experience feels misleading and unfair, especially given that the ticket was sold as refundable and cancelled well in advance. Customers choosing Flexi Economy should be aware that, in practice, refunds may not be honored as advertised.

Worst international carrier

Batik Air is easily the worst international airline I’ve ever flown and I can’t believe they are charging premium prices for this level of neglect and disrespect toward passengers.
Our flight was delayed with almost no communication so we missed our connections, passengers at the back waited literally hours to be served, toilets were filthy, crew were rude and dismissive, and as a vegetarian I was only offered a chicken pizza with a refusal to provide even a snack or basic alternative. On what planet is that acceptable on an international flight?
The return flight had no inflight entertainment, no included food or water, and everything even water was paid only. Is that even legal? They also only accept Visa credit cards (not Visa debit), and this isn’t advertised anywhere. It felt like a bargain-basement domestic flight but priced like a full service international carrier.
I emailed customer care multiple times and got nothing back. Just silence. No accountability.
People need to stop supporting airlines like this. If we accept these bottom-of-the-barrel standards, other airlines will eventually lower theirs too. Flying is uncomfortable enough already Batik Air managed to make the entire experience dramatically worse in every possible way. Avoid at all costs.

The worst possible experience.

During this vacation, I unfortunately flew twice with Batik Air. The first flight was delayed by two and a half hours, and the second, flight OD392 on January 5th, was delayed by more than six hours due to technical problems with the aircraft. The airline refused any compensation, provided confusing information, and boasted that there are even worse airlines. A complete lack of respect. If flights are almost always delayed and the aircraft have mechanical failures, it would be much better to deny them operating licenses and shut them down, because they represent a serious danger and a great inconvenience for travelers.

Perth to Kuala Lumpur

Went from Perth to Kuala Lumpur.
Unfriendly staff - quite rude and impatient crew. Aircraft seemed a bit old which was not a problem, leg room in Economy class was okay for me, as I am only 5“2, for other people probs not enough room. Low budget but hidden costs and very strict on kg and in general not much allowed - check in took ages. Just an okayish experience for a 5,5 hour flight. Would not book again if I dont have to.

*WARNING*

*WARNING*
Batik Malaysia is the biggest scam.
We paid for our tickets to Europe from Australia, we had the itinerary that clearly stated meals included from Perth to KL but they didn’t care, they wanted us to pay again.
We had a wheelchair service included and they also made us pay again for wheelchair.
Avoid at all costs, pay a bot extra and use a proper airline.

Inhumane treatment during transfer at Kuala Lumpur

During a transfer in Kuala Lumpur, Batik Air forced all passengers to re-check hand luggage before boarding and made us pour out our water bottles.

After passing this additional security check, we were kept waiting in a closed waiting area. I asked multiple staff members where we could refill our bottles with drinkable water. I was clearly told that there was no access to drinking water at all and that the only option was to BUY water on the plane.

This was for a 3 hour 35 minute flight.

Denying passengers access to basic drinking water, especially after confiscating their own, is unacceptable and inhumane. Water is not a luxury — it is a basic human need. Expecting passengers to remain dehydrated or pay for water mid-flight after deliberately removing all alternatives is disgraceful.

Do not fly with this airline

These guys are one of the worst airlines ever.
Late. Plane so old.
No charging, no entertainment, chair wouldn't recline or move.
Gluten free meal was plain pasta. No oil, no seasoning, no sauce. Just soggy plain pasta. One small drink.

This was in business class too.

Then they leaked all my data and it hasnt stopped.

Avoid

Terrible experience with BATIK AIR

OD860 & OD8561 (KUL - KIX). While checking in at the counter, the staff were live streaming with their friends and chatting loudly. They showed no sense of shame in front of customers. Is this allowed in BATIK AIR? The flight to Kansai was delayed by 4 hours. The in-flight meal I ordered never arrived. There were 4 meals that didn’t come. At that time, I was quite confused as to why my meal didn’t arrive. I thought maybe I had ordered incorrectly. But after checking again, it was true—they didn’t serve my meal. The cabin crew didn’t seem to know how to do their job. The return trip to KLIA was also delayed by 30 minutes, and once again my meal didn’t arrive. Do Batik Air employees even know how to work? How you train your staff? They may look handsome and beautiful, but they have no idea how to do their job. Worse, they act like VIPs, as if they are more important than the customers

Stil waiting fir refund

I booked a flight via the app of Batik Air. Cause there website is giving ‘error’ all the time. After payment with my creditcard I didn’t receive a booking confirmation by email. I tried to contact their customer care via whatsapp. There they refer to their email. On my emails they don’t react.
So I paid 300€ and got nothing. Still waiting for refund.
Don’t book Batik air via their app or website.
Very bad customer care!

Feedback on Cabin Crew Service – Flight OD813 (6 January 2026)

I took flight OD813 on 6 January 2026 at 1:10 PM. I would like to express my dissatisfaction with the service provided by one of the cabin crew members, whom I believe was an Indian crew member.
During boarding, an elderly passenger needed assistance placing luggage into the overhead compartment. Instead of offering help, the crew member responded rudely by saying, “You cannot put it up, then we put together.” From my understanding, assisting passengers—especially elderly ones—with their luggage should be part of the cabin crew’s responsibility.
Furthermore, the flight was not full, and the luggage did not appear overly large. It should have been acceptable to place it in the overhead compartment. However, the crew member directly instructed that the bag be placed under the seat, without using polite language such as “please.” The tone and manner of communication felt unprofessional and discourteous.
Due to this experience, I will need to reconsider choosing Batik Air for future flights to Singapore!

This was one of the most terrifying…

This was one of the most terrifying flights of my life and a complete failure by Batik Air. We were forced to sit in a hot plane for over an hour with no air conditioning, and the cabin became unbearable. People were struggling to breathe, some were asking for oxygen, babies were crying, and passengers were screaming for help. I genuinely feared for our safety and suffered intense anxiety — I couldn’t breathe properly and felt like I was in danger.

This wasn’t just uncomfortable — it was a serious safety issue in 2025. On top of that, Batik Air didn’t have enough food or drinks available, and there was no change for passengers to buy anything. This is not how an airline should operate — especially when passengers’ health and well‑being are at risk.

I refuse to ever fly with Batik Air again and **strongly believe they should be banned from flying to or from Australia until they fix these shameful safety and service failures.

If you value your comfort, safety, and peace of mind — do not fly Batik Air.
