Defective Product, Poor Customer Service – Not Worth the Premium Price

We ordered a very expensive Mogg sideboard through Barthome, which arrived damaged. Both the outer and inner packaging were completely intact with no visible signs of damage, meaning the defects were pre-existing. We carefully documented all damage with photos and descriptions, then repeatedly attempted to contact Barthome to resolve the issue.

When calling their support line — where English-speaking service is advertised — we were instead told rudely in Italian to send an email. Despite submitting thorough documentation and a detailed description of all defects, we are not being taken seriously. Barthome is now attempting to attribute multiple damage points to transport, which is simply not supported by the evidence.

Given the order value of several thousand euros, we expected a significantly more professional approach to customer care and claims handling. Unfortunately, we are now left with no choice but to pursue legal representation.

A deeply disappointing experience. We would not recommend purchasing through Barthome for high-value items.

I ordered 2 design chairs and 1 arrived…

I ordered 2 design chairs and 1 arrived damaged. They don't take responsibility and refuse to resolve the issue and just stopped responding, ignoring consumer rights. Very bad company.

27-01-2026. Regarding their response: Their response perfectly illustrates why this is a poor company to deal with. Instead of taking responsibility, they place the blame on the consumer, claiming the chair was damaged (damage is not only a small incision) upon opening.

Communication was ignored/ stopped entirely. It appears that only public reviews prompt a reaction.

For clarity: BartHome, multiple attempts were made to contact you, all of which were ignored. If you truly stand by what you have written, you are welcome to contact me within 2 days to resolve this matter. Should it be resolved properly, I am more than willing to amend this review.

You received the chair in perfect packaging. Only upon opening it did you notice a small incision on the backrest (which could have been caused during opening).
We asked you to send the chair to our address for a full refund or to keep it and receive a partial refund, but we never received any response from you.
We are always at your complete disposal... hoping to find a solution despite the time that has passed.

Smooth delivery to Germany

I'm really impressed with my purchase! The chairs look amazing and arrived way quicker than I anticipated. The payment process was smooth and straightforward. Overall, a great experience – I'll definitely be shopping here again!

Very bad level of customer service

Very bad level of customer service. We had to change the delivery address and they refused to do it, giving absolutely no explanation about why it was not possible. During the time of the decission, the product was in a wharehouse in Madrid....a total nonsense. The transportation company had no problem at all in managing the change address. We will definitely not work with them again, At the end, we had to pick up our own product and pay an extra cost due to this inflexible and incomprehensible attitude.

However, the payment method you used, PayPal, does not allow address changes. The shipping address must be the same as the one entered on the PayPal page and cannot be changed. This is a PayPal policy for retailers who use it.

NEVER AGAIN!!

Two custom-made designer armchairs – double disappointment.

I ordered two high-end armchairs from Barthome. Both arrived with visible damage to the wooden armrests, and even worse: the leather color is completely different from what was communicated via WhatsApp and suggested on the website.

I firmly believe I was deliberately misled by the product presentation on Barthome’s website. The leather color code CR01 is shown in a way that drastically differs from the official Ditre Italia configurator, which I was specifically referred to during the ordering process.

Despite providing clear photo documentation of the damages, the company’s initial response completely ignored the issue of physical defects. Instead of offering a proper solution or replacement, I was offered a color touch-up kit and a minor refund – which is completely unacceptable for a made-to-order premium product.

I feel deceived and abandoned as a customer. Anyone buying from a company like Barthome expects quality, integrity, and accountability – none of which were delivered in my experience.

Never again.

A beautiful sofa and an incredible experience!
I ordered an outdoor sofa and a coffee table — quite the adventure, as it traveled all the way from Sicily to my home in Bavaria. Throughout the entire process, I was incredibly well taken care of. Communication was fast and super friendly, with quick responses via WhatsApp. The sofa was even delivered earlier than expected by a professional freight company. Everything went perfectly. I can wholeheartedly recommend Bartolomeo Arreda!

Great experience ordering Italian coffee table

I ordered ozzio box table and the price was a lot cheaper then if I ordered from local distributors. Table arrived within 2 months and delivery was easy to track. Highly recommend.

Nie wieder!

Ware beschädigt und ohne passende Aufbauanleitung, 0 Hilfe, die zur Lösung des Problems führt, versprochener Ersatz für beschädigtes Teil nie geliefert, kann nur jedem Empfehlen nichts teures bei diesem Shop zu kaufen!!!!! 6 Monate dauerte diese Möbelbestellung und am Ende keine Freude an dem Produkt - nur Wut auf diese Firma.

OK, if you want to do a chronology recap, then do it correctly:

1 August: Order is placed
2 August: You inform that August is a holiday period so it’s postponed to September

I am fine with that - In my mind that means I have the product in September!

4 August: You write "you guarantee I will be satisfied"

No updates in September/October whatsoever

23 October: I ask by when to expect the delivery, I haven’t received any updates since our last conversation.

You reply the same day:
We wait for the goods to arrive in the warehouse should arrive next week. As soon as it arrives I will send you an email with the delivery details

31 October: Your order has arrived

When the goods will be entrusted to the courier, you will receive all the details related to your shipment.

9 November: I write: Again 10 days have passed! Any news on the shipment date?

10 November: You write: the goods are entrusted to the carrier on Tuesday. This is a transporter specialized in TRAMO furniture. As soon as the goods are collected I will send you an email with the delivery details

15 November: Sent notification, the goods will arrive within 15 days

I was away end of Nov to beginning of Dec, I am kind of expecting a mail, we are coming on that day between XX and XX, if you are not around please suggest better day. But the "15 days is the roughest time window. Plus I didn’t have much trust in dates anymore anyway. It was more, let’s see if it comes this year.

22 November The delivery comes without any upfront information of a concrete time. It is a gray rainy day, my mom is luckily around at the time. 15 big boxes are dropped on the street. My mom says I am 82 years old, I can’t carry this. "Delivery to the curb". (I wasn’t given any options but certainly wasn’t expecting this for a premium product.) And leaves. My mom is in a state of shock. Heavy rain, goods left on the street, trying to find someone in the neighborhood in the middle of the day.

I come back 12 December late in the evening

13 December: Next day I am opening them and I write to you that parts are damaged - 50 cm long cracks on both sides of a panel - there are also other smaller damages. The assembly manual is for an ALTOGETHER different product, I have 60 screws more than the generic manual shows. I can’t even check if I have a complete delivery, what to compare it against

You reply:
delivery is free to customers' homes
therefore it is the customer who brings the product home and assembles it. for assembly instructions the company sends generic ones
there are no specific instructions for your sideboard. If I'm not mistaken it should be easy to assemble, everything comes in cubes

have to inform you that the delivery was made 3 weeks ago
reports must be made within 7 days of delivery

May I know if you have signed the transporter's document with reservation of control?

I reply: I didn’t sign anything

19 December: If I remember correctly the back panel had suffered some damage
I can provide you with a panel for free but the shipping cost is your responsibility

I am not willing to pay the shipping costs

The same day you reply:

For the panel there are no problems
you will receive the new one

{Fact: I never received it until today}

I reach out myself to the original manufacturer for assembly instructions- with no response

You say you will find out who can help

{15 boxes are occupying an entire room, it’s Christmas season and I am expecting 4 guests)

2 January 2024: I write: What is the status. I would really like to speak to someone this week.

4 January 2024: businesses reopen after the holidays January 8th

10 January 2024: The original manufacturer (not the seller) writes back to me: I insist that the piece of furniture you have purchased must be assembled by a professional and the seller should have informed you about this detail before.

I forward this to you

19 January 2024: you write: To help you, do you want us to quote an assembly service?

I am replying that extra costs that haven't been transparent before are not acceptable

I remind you that you purchased a Treku sideboard in August where companies close production and restart everything in September. Furthermore (as communicated in the product sheet) the production times for Treku products are 10/12 weeks + 15 days of delivery with a courier specialized in furniture.

The sideboard was shipped in early November but when it arrived at your home you were on holiday so it was received by your family but remained packaged.
You subsequently contacted us in January 2024 due to assembly problems, you were unable to assemble the sideboard.

Inside the packaging there are generic instructions for all Treku sideboards. Treku products require some manual assembly.

Given the problems you were unable to assemble the sideboard, we put you in contact with the Treku company and told you that we could send a specialized worker to assemble the sideboard.

I believe that on our part there has always been the utmost availability to help you and solve the assembly problem.

Very reliable service that takes care of you even if something goes wrong. Don't worry they are here to help you! We received an outdoor table of the wrong color and they exchanged it very fast with no questions asked! Looking forward to work with them again!

Seletti chandelier Cremona-Catania-Brussels

What an adventure ordering a Seletti chandelier- only made possible through Barthome and the tireless Francesca! She has been on top of this very complicated product and its various parts travelling to Brussels from Cremona through Sicily NON STOP! Due to misshandling of the original order at the factory and warehouse of Seletti, Francesca had to write and calm down 4 different people at all times: buyer, receiver, Seletti representative and her boss. Always patient, friendly and really cool, even when some people (me) were losing their temper. I have no words to thank her enough, without her wise guidance and year long experience, I would still be sueing Seletti for fraud and not have this wonderful lamp at my home. If you need a complicated transaction/item for your home and someone to deal with it and get the job done, Barthome is the place and website for you! 5 stars plus

This company is legit and responsive

This company is legit and customer service is very nice and responsible. I would recommend it if you are sure the products are in stock or you have time to wait. My order came 6 months after I placed the order and they were broken when they arrived (BartHome helped to to solve the problem, but was another 1.5 months of waiting); while I know this may due to the manufacture’s delay, lacking of the materials thanks to Covid, but this is a very very long wait.
