No surprise Revolut is taking the world...

All customer service is now in India and I cant get the problem solved at any branch. Despite the fact, there are 3 customer service agents at the branch where I go.

My account number is shared with someone in a different area of the country. A nightmare of problems came with that. No fault of mine.
Can't even pay online. I call online, I am sent to the bank branch.
I go to the bank branch, I am told to call customer support.

Worst, I need to take time off from my working hours because the bank doesn't have operational working hours that suit working people.

No surprise Revolut is taking the world...

Disgusting, inappropriate service

Called into branch at 2 College Green, Dublin today (19/05/23) to make an over-the-counter withdrawal. The clerk who attended to me was chewing gum so fiercely that his mouth resembled a washing machine with white socks tumbling around. When I told him that I thought it was inappropriate to chew gum so visibly in front of a customer his response was "You got what you wanted".

Porting Mortgage BOI UK worst company.

Currently trying to port our mortgage with BOI UK application submitted in March 23 and still no mortgage offer, no updates, no communication. They are doing everything possible to cause delays, doing audits etc and now we are at the point the seller is going to re market the house as they as well as everyone else is very frustrated. I couldn’t recommend against using this company any more if I could. Most stressful experience which should be pretty straight forward. Doesn’t even deserve the 1 star.

Avoid mortgages like the plague!

Porting a mortgage product - absolutely shocking. Archaic paper based and fax system. Paperwork sent to solicitors incomplete to which we were told 'this has never happened before'. Interesting that a circumstances that has never happened before forms one of their 'frequently asked questions'. Customer service when you can get hold of someone is good, but getting hold of someone is terrible. 4 people involved (2 solicitors, 1 mortgage broker and us) in trying to obtain information. We've spent approximately 1.5 days on issues so far. Meant to be moving in 2 days and BoI are once again holding this up. I suspect that the people may be brilliant, but are seriously let down by the systems. Made an already stressful experience far worse than it had to be. Would not recommend unless you enjoy feeling very stressed.

Stay away for mortgage

Worst bank ever, especially for mortgage. They were very quick in the beginning of the process, trying to get new customers, now our application is ridiculously delayed. It's been a month since we submitted the last documentation and we have to keep calling to know what's going on. We call, they ask to wait 48h, nothing happens, we call again, they find an issue dated prior to the first call that was never informed to us via call or the website, then, it was actually a mistake from their bot that couldn't read the information on the doc, was no one took 1 minute to check the document!!! Ok, we submitted again, the bot accepted this time (same doc btw), have to wait another 48h, nothing happens, we have to call again..... Anyway, our application is obviously forgotten, there's no one checking and passing on, now it's been 2 weeks iddle. NOTHING!!

Even though we are at the end of the process, we are starting a new application with a different mortgage provider. I believe it will be quicker!

Also, I'm not longer transferring my funds from AIB ACC to BOI, no way! And I'm telling all my friends and family to move their acc when their student one expires. They are all going to do that as the fees are actually cheaper.

We were first time buyers going for a…

We were first time buyers going for a mortgage with Bank Of Ireland. My partner was with Bank of Ireland for 10 years so we trusted them with our mortgage. Overall the process was slow. Constantly losing documents. It was very hard to get through to someone on the phone. The offer they gave us in the end was so embarrassing and insulting. Myself and my partner both work jobs with good salary’s and I recently got a promotion which gave us high hopes that the mortgage will work out in our favour. However the offer was laughable at the end. They’re wasen’t even houses out there for the price they offered us. When we questioned it we got a silly excuse. My partner has now left bank of Ireland and transferred elsewhere. Avoid at all costs!!!

I'm in the process of an equity release…

I'm in the process of an equity release mortgage. Its taking forever. They kept misplacing and losing documents. Timelines are triple what they told me they'd be. I've had a mortgage with them for 14 years and I'm really regretting staying with them. They have zero consideration for dates they communicated and that on the back of that my builder having started. Thankfully I have good savings. AVOID

Avoid

Avoid. Had a mortgage with Bank Of Ireland UK for 15 years. In the past no problems. But now, you just cannot get through to anyone. No Answer ever. I don't know if they even have a customer services or anything. Also only open 9am to 5pm monday to friday, but irelevant anyway - since no answer. The recorded music on the phone line is faulty. The on-line registration doesn't work, but you can't get through to resolve. The letter they sent me had a QR code which my phone doesn't recognise as a QR code. The web address they give on the letter doesn't exist.

Astonishingly incompetent

Astonishingly incompetent. My account was transferred from another institution which was leaving the market. The transfer was handled very poorly and I was obliged to set up their badly-designed app on my phone. None of the codes etc worked for some time. Eventually got it going and started using the card. A month passes with no bill, so I contact them to request one, they promise to issue it. Nothing. Another month passes, no bill, rang them again. They say they will issue two bills. Nothing. Today my card was locked for non-payment. Rang them again and attempted to pay the card bill with debit card. Somehow, they managed to have that register as a fraudulent transaction with the debit card company, who promptly locked my debit card. Now neither the debit nor credit card works, I cannot buy anything, and they say it will take up to four working days to resolve. Rang customer service, got Indian call centre who transferred me to the "team". No answer after 50 minutes, so hung up. Never had any trouble with the old card provider over the course of ten years, endless trouble with this lot in only two months.

Avoid for mortgages at all costs!

Tried to apply for a mortgage and it’s been nothing but a horrendous, stressful nightmare! Very unhelpful, poor communication, had ridiculous demands. The house had some issues but nothing that couldn’t be easily fixed. They deemed it uninhabitable, yet home report stated it was mortgageable. We’ve wasted 6 weeks and have now gone with another lender.

Worse bank, I wish there was 0 star

Terrible bank
they under evaluate your house so they can charge you more interest.

I have been lured by the Mortgage advise bureau to use this bank for my mortgage 19 months ago and I was being overcharged but regardless and since we were new to mortgage we went with them
this year we wanted to remortgage so the natural thing is to contact the existing bank despite being offered a better deal with few different lenders

The advisor from BOI asked me to wait a little bit as they want to retain customer and they are confident to give me a better deal

I waited about three weeks just for me to see their rubbish offer where they under evaluate my property by almost £15000 so they can charge me premium without even sending a surveyor
when I called them I complained especially that I spent £30000 on full refurbishment and a further £13000 planned to refit a new roof as I wanted a different model and velux windows
I had a surveyor who came to my house 2 weeks ago and estimated my house at 15000 more than bank of Ireland and I also had two estate agents who were offering a ,much better value so when I asked BOI why they under valuated my house they said they use their own calculation which is obviously wrong and when I asked for a review they said that they will send a surveyor but I need to pay for him and plus sign with them before sending the surveyor

This is the worse bank that someone can work with as I could have missed on a very good deal with another lender and I genuinely advise not using them or the brooker who works on their behalf Mortgage bureau advise

TERRIBLE BANK

TERRIBLE BANK! I recently wanted to save for a mortgage so i opened a mortgage saver account online. I then received a letter stating i had set up a direct debit of 1500 euro per month which i didnt intend to do i only wanted the account to transfer funds myself. i sent a direct debit cancel form and three weeks later 1500 was taken from my account. i called they said i had to go into back with ID. went to the branch they were useless they told me i have to wait for it to bounce back before i can close account. whether you ring, cancel, go into branch, they will do nothing to help you! i will stick with my credit union!!!!
