I recently called into inquire about a…UBER PARTNERSHIP

I recently called into inquire about a gas comfort vehicle with the Uber program. The young lady answers the phone and greet me without name; just RUDE ASF hungs up on me, (Renee)! I learned after asking and properly displaying to her how to greet a customer. She proceeded to act as if she was locating my reservation to add me to the list of 200 others looking for a gas car that isn’t available at NO LOCATION! But reservations can be made, just throw the whole damn system and company away! As a whole they need a reorganization, FLEET & reinvestment into customer service training heavily. The quality & level of service received is beyond unacceptable! Review after review is beyond me! Where is the LEADERSHIP in this company? Stop hiring people who don’t want to WORK! “customer service” is essential! This company is ridiculous and a waste!!!! GET RID OF THE UBER PROGRAM IF YOU CANT MANAGE IT PROPERLY!!! Your options are TRASH at every location with a ghetto fabulous staff from the management on down is a hoax and complete incompetence at its finest.

Fraudulent charges

The process of collecting the car and returning was painless. The issues came when I received an invoice for extra charges for an 'upgrade' and roadside assistance. I didn't ask for any of these and the service assistant on the desk told me I wouldn't incur any additional charges. Be careful what you sign because they will try and take as much money as possible and then make it difficult to claim back. Out of 10 separate hires in our group, everyone was charged extra for no reason at all. Eventually I was granted a refunded but this was after a well of emails and 40mins on an international call. Friends who used enterprise had no problems so I would advise going with that company over Avis. A truly remarkable - for the wrong reasons - experience

fees and taxes are hidden make sure you read before presenting your card

As a first time Avis user I am kicking myself for not doing better research on the company's business practices. I rented a car at an airport online; I called and spoke with someone to make sure I was doing everything correctly bc a car was important to have in place and within budget. Well, I was asked for a credit card when I picked the car up and the amount was less, so cool!! NOPE, after 45 days both card statements showed me that I had prepaid for the car and some of the taxes, the other $124.23 were additional fees they disguise in a very crowded document they have you sign that shows what you have declined and the date you'll return it, how much fuel it has, very crowded small type. I didn't notice the line that I thought I was paying in total was the additional fees bc it reads "estimated total charges" I realize now I should have slowed down and asked the girl why she needed an additional credit card. I assumed it was bc a physical card was needed for the trasaction.

i never write reviews but i wanted to…

i never write reviews but i wanted to warn people This company is the most cutthroat crooks i have ever dealt with and i am going to put this on every site i can find. i rented a car the lady told me to park in the avis parking lot and it was towed the next day by avis nobody contacted me i come back 4 days later on sunday and my car is gone i ask woman at window she didnt know where it was then she called and said it been towed i said for what? she didnt know so it was sunday tow company was closed so i had to rent car another day and drive 2 hours home and come back next day. i called cooperate and they agreed to pay tow bill and take 2 days off bill but then didnt honor it and caused me to pay 2 more days rental and towing which is $500 i have talked for hours on phone to customer service with no help at all ive talked to 20 different people they all tell you something different. Please if your reading this DO NOT rent a car from them unless you want to get ripped off and lied to. $1200 to rent a car for 4 days and not counting all the hours talking to these people. this is still going on i still have the rental car waiting for them to tell me something and do what they promised.

We rented a car from AVIS thru COSTCO…

We rented a car from AVIS thru COSTCO travel. We received verification of the rental for $388.50 which included car rental taxes and fees. I ended up paying $495.02. They had all sorts of bull**** extra charges including $90.00 for accepting the toll benefit. I was with a group, and we rented two vehicles, one from Alamo and one from AVIS. Turns out the actual tolls were $42.95 so they over charged me $47.05. When I call AVIS they finally gave me a 30% refund on the toll charge, but I still paid more than the actual tolls. As far as all the other extra charges they responded by basically saying tough luck that is our policy. So if you do rent from AVIS question all those extra charges and pay for your tolls on your own.

Saved Me Money

We had picked up our car at the airport over an hour of ahead of time. I had made a mistake and chosen a pickup time too far in advance of when the plane had landed. The total price for the rental was larger than the total indicated on the reservation; the computer calculated extra time for the rental since I was picking up early. The staff member was able to work the problem out so I did not have to pay the extra amount. I appreciate the effort made to save me money.

Trying to charge for resetting tire light 2 months later

Vehicle clearly was not checked out prior to turnover, tire warning light was on, knock in front right wheel, but no functional issues over 12 day use. But 2 months later Avis sends me bill for $82.96 for "tire damage" that was actually resetting the tire light. Really? Lots of class actions against Avis, so either incompetence or scam, not sure which, either way not good, waiting to see if they do the right thing.

Watch Out for Avis

I used my credit card to rent a car in Pensacola. The time was about 10:45 PM. Just after midnight I was warned that there was a questionable charge occurring on my credit card. Since the only use for an extended time was the Avis rental, the two events are extremely likely to be related. Canceling the card and changing several auto pay accounts cost time and aggravation. I will not use Avis again.

My experience with Avis was horrible

My experience with Avis was horrible. Inconvenient and frustrating. I pick up the vehicle that was prepaid at Avis at BDL. Pick up the car drive home everything ok. Morning rolls around turn on car open the back there is garbage in the back seat and cup holders. Empty soda cans 2 half empty water bottles candy wrappers. I am not happy. I get rid of the trash. Drive 1.8 miles to pick up point pick 2 people up turn off the vehicle load the car and the ENGINE OIL LOW ADD OIL comes on. TOOK two phone calls to actually get someone on the phone to help me no good answers. I tell them I will get oil change because they have no good answer on how to get me another vehicle in a timely manner. Now we are running late for our meeting. Get to the oil change place no oil shows on the dipstick, coolant is low tires are not inflated properly. Great effing fabulous. I return the car after the trip 4 days. Call customer service tell them my issue send pictures invoice for oil change 115.88 ask for reimbursement and discount on the vehicle. They offer reimbursement for the oil change and 25-dollar discount that is the discount I got on the oil change. ARE YOU KIDDING ME. I should have just let the engine blow up, UBER to my destination and left your car on the side of the road and then bill you for the UBER and dispute my Credit Card Charges. Mind you this was a Corporate Perk. I was proactive got maintenance on your car a 25 discount on the oil change, but they offer to give me a $25 discount. YOU GUYS SUCK!! NEVER Again. Disappointed beyond belief.

DON'T HIRE FROM AVIS/BUDGET@SKY HARBOUR AIRPORT PHOENIX.

Well looking at some of the other reviews about avis in sky Harbour Airport phoenix they clearly dont give a dam!! I got a car that had iver 50.000 miles on it,no front number plate and a hole in the carpet on the drivers side that went all the way through to the car floor. I got the customer service agent(using the customer service part very loosely) to come down and look at the state of the car. He said hole in the carpet wasn't a problem and 50k miles wasn't bad as they can give cars out at 70.000 miles. I said but no front plate is illegal in some states and he said well what states are yo going to? We said for sure Nevada, california but our itinerary was loose so we weren't sure where else we might go? He said your fine don't worry about it? Why just not give us a diffrent car? We then drove out and the tyre pressure warning light came on so right away were wondering if the car has a puncture so I was constantly checking the tyres which is something I shouldn't have to worry about. I'm on vacation so not a good start. Then were in the desert and the service light comes on. So now I have the service light and the tyre pressure warning lights and the worry of going into states that require front and back plates. Simply put don't hire from avis or budget as there the same company. He seemed to go out his way to give us the most crap car he could. Why? They had loads of other cars. I will never use these 2 companies again. We're in the us and Canada a few times each year and always hire cars but I will be definitely be avoiding these 2 charlatan companies in the future. If I could give then minus stars I would. DON'T HIRE FROM AVIS/BUDGET SKY HARBOUR!!!!!

Horrible customer service

Horrible customer service! You can not talk to anyone and get a resolution! I was given one rate in the Anderson location but when I called for an extension I was given the same rate in store but corporate charged me $100 more for two weeks. When I called they advised me that this rate could not be changed and the person in the store should of advised me that this rate would be different. I stated that was negligence on their behalf not mine and I should not have to deal with the extra charge because of their mistake! Still no resolution and still charged the additional $100 I will never use AVIS again. They are dishonest and lack any compassion or customer service skills.

Avis in Phoenix Skyport is the worse…

Avis in Phoenix Skyport is the worse rental place I have ever seen. The line was way to long. Outside the normal serpentine lines set up in most airports. Then it took three (3) hours to get to the desk. Only 3 employees on duty at this time. Most of the people near us in line had previously ordered cars and had to go thru the line because no cars available. I had ordered a Volkswagen SUV and eended up with a Camty street racer. Would be fun except my wife and I are in our late 70s and need a somewhat comfortable car. No refund no nothing..

Commercial rip off

We booked a rental car in the US with AVIS through Expedia and paid for it months in advance. Proud 860 euros for 13 days. When we picked up the car, we were presented with a bill for USD 1500, from which the “voucher” was deducted. So we had to add another 600 USD. The price explosion could not be explained to us. There was no upgrade, we got the car we ordered.
We were told that we should contact Expedia. So we took the car. When we got back we immediately called Expedia customer service. We called over and over again. You always feigned understanding, but they didn't help. We haven't even been given an explanation.
AVIS customer service was even better. The employee promised us a refund within 10 days. After three days we received an email telling us that we had signed the rental agreement in such a way that nothing could be done.
For us, the company AVIS is just as dubious as EXPEDIA. They literally rip off the customers and then don't care about them anymore. There are so many other intermediaries and car rental companies that have a different company philosophy.

Not trustworthy

Not trustworthy. If we were to rate the rental proces and the car - we would have rated 9-10. But at the delivering proces your business is not trustworthy - we delivered the car with fuel (full tank). However you accounted us approx. 287 dollars for fuel anyway. We now have to wait approx. 16 weeks to get this your attention to this case. A Facebook Group already announced that several customers of yours where cheated by this and other tricks in matter to withdraw their deposits.
We will ask our bureau to use another vendor at our next trip.

STAY AWAY FROM AVIS!

STAY AWAY FROM AVIS!! We rented a car from AVIS in France and noticed that the tire light indicator was on ... went back to the rental desk and they said not to worry as the cars are always checked over thoroughly and we needed only bring it next door to fill up with air. We did so and drove off to our misfortune ... the next day, after repeated attempts to reach them, we finally got through to AVIS to let them know the tire was leaking and they asked us to drive 1-2 hours away to exchange the car and gave us a number to call ahead. Despite repeated calls, no one at that facility answered the phone. We wound up filling up the tire almost every day (because of the tire leak) and taking short trips on our vacation instead of visiting places further away that we had planned. As a follow-up with AVIS, they refused to give us any discount or money back. In sum, very unprofessional and I should have realized they didn't check the tires properly as they overfilled the front tires while the back tires were leaking. Stay away from AVIS unless you have no concerns about driving flat tires.

I had a terrible Avis experience at BDL…

I had a terrible Avis experience at BDL airport. The only reason I rated two stars instead of one is because the car itself was good (even if the wrong vehicle and not one I reserved or wanted), and because the return experience was good.

When I arrived, only one of the three people at the counter knew what he was doing. One of these three seemed to be a trainee, who clearly should have been watching/learning instead of trying to do.

I ended up at the counter with the guy who knew what he was doing, which was a bit frustrating since he kept stopping to go help one of the other two -- but I understood this. Until he entirely abandoned me to go help the trainee with a lady who was behind me in line! Again, I understand if he needs to close his counter to go help the trainee, but he should have finished up with me first. He turned me over to the second employee who didn't know what he was doing. This guy had to keep calling back the original person, and eventually had to entirely start over because he apparently messed something up. It took almost an hour for me to get my car and get out -- and the line was not that long!

Then, I was given the wrong vehicle! Avis was running out of cars at that location (how do you "run out" of a reserved vehicle?). So the person helping me (not the guy who knew what he was doing) asked if I would take a SUV instead. I said as long as it was a smaller SUV it would be fine. He put me in a full-size Dodge Durango! The guy who knew what he was doing heard what vehicle had been given to me, and commented that it was not a small SUV -- but the person helping me acted like there was no other option available.

When I got out to the lot and actually saw what he had put me in (big full-size SUV), I also saw a mid-size car and asked the one employee who knew what he was doing if I could switch to that. He said I could, but I needed to go back inside to get it switched because he was switching the vehicle for somebody else (the lady he had abandoned me to assist, even though she was behind me in line -- she had also been put into a full-size SUV instead of the compact SUV she wanted since the only compact SUV's they had left were electric). He didn't do anything to mark that car, which was the very last car on their lot, as "taken".

I went back in, and was told they would switch me over in a minute after he finished getting another person finished (again, I had already been there almost an hour at this point -- I understand everyone needs to be taken care of, but by this time I should have been priority to get finished up and on the road). He also did nothing to mark that vehicle as "taken", or even bother radioing the lot attend to let him know.

By the time he was ready to help me, somebody with "fast getaway" had just grabbed the car, leaving me stuck with the full-size SUV I said I didn't want to begin with!

The fleet is nice. But it is overshadowed by employees who don't know how to use the computer systems, don't know their vehicles well enough to understand which vehicles are which, and procedures that can't manage to have reserved vehicles available at time of pick-up.

Beware of additional charges

Additional charges were not explained at the time of pick even though Avis claim to be a transparent company. I declined Personal accident insurance but was still charged for it.The only reason this review gets one star is because the car itself was acceptable. But BEWARE!! AVIS IS DECEPTIVE in pricing and additional charges. They treat customers with contempt.

BEWARE

The only reason this review gets two stars instead of one is because the car itself was a good ride. But BEWARE!! AVIS IS DECEPTIVE in pricing and additional charges. And there is NO reprieve; no customer service, no corporate help. After many phone call re-directs to understand additional charges, the representative was very rude, told me to look on the receipt, which I did and I saw the lower charge. I tried to inquire further and HE HUNG UP ON ME. All phone numbers direct back to the same customer service line.
