Avia car rental Pula airport Croatia

To say it bluntly this company sets out to rob their customers.
I have hired cars in several countries around the world and never have I felt as blatantly been ripped off as I have with Avia car rental. On collection of the car the agent took me out to check over the car, it was clean but had a few superficial bodywork marks. I pointed out a faint mark on the side of the vehicle and was told that it was to faint to worry about saying "we dont worry about something that insignificant. We were also bullied into taking their cleaning offer for €15 as I was told that even if we had the car cleaned before we returned it we could still be liable for the €50 cleaning charge. Along with this an offer to buy their damage waiver insurance was aggressively pushed eventhough i had my own damage insurance i am convinced they wouldnt have made a fuss if i had acceptedtheir offer. I signed the paperwork and drove off. On return of the car convieniently a different agent scrutinised the body work and told me the same mark on the side of the car was a scratch that I had done I tried to take a photograph and challenge him but it wouldn't even show on the image on my camera.I was charged £800.00 to "polish the car" the amount is extortionate in its self without the fact that it was there on collection. I know they will challenge this accurate review aggressively as they have done on nearly all the negative reviews I have since read, and that doesn't bother me in the slightest as the volume of the negative reviews prove to me that it's not unusual to be ripped off by this company. As I said they are going to say I'm lying and they are only protecting their interests but please believe me they are dishonest crooks.
Stay well away from Avia car rental. They will rip you off.

Your review is full of serious accusations but omits the most important facts.

You claim that you were charged for a "faint mark" that allegedly already existed. That is simply not true. During the return inspection, the vehicle was found with new scratches on both the front and rear doors. These were new damages that occurred during your rental period and were charged in accordance with the rental agreement and the terms and conditions you accepted before collecting the vehicle.

Your allegation that different employees deliberately acted together to charge you is entirely unfounded. Every vehicle is inspected at both pick-up and return, and any new damage is documented according to the same procedure for every customer.

You also describe the optional €15 cleaning package as being "forced" upon you. This is incorrect. The cleaning option and the applicable cleaning policy are clearly stated in the rental conditions and on the voucher provided before arrival. You were free to choose between the available options.

Finally, calling the company "crooks," "dishonest," and accusing us of "robbing customers" does not change the documented facts. Personal insults cannot erase the fact that the vehicle was returned with new damage, which was charged strictly in accordance with the rental conditions you accepted.

Making defamatory accusations does not make them true.

AVIA Autovermietung Flughafen Split

Standort: Flughafen Split

I strongly advise against using this rental company. They offer the lowest rates at the time of booking, but there are many hidden charges upon pickup. There are extremely high extra fees for crossing the border into Bosnia, and the car must be returned clean inside and out—or else you have to pay a flat cleaning fee right when you pick it up. I had booked with this company several times in the past without encountering these hidden costs. They will never see me as a customer again.

Your review is misleading and tries to present clearly disclosed rental conditions as “hidden charges.”

The cross-border fee for Bosnia and the cleaning policy were not surprises, not tricks, and not invented at pick-up. They were clearly stated on the voucher issued by your booking agency, together with the applicable prices.

If you did not read the voucher before arrival, that does not make the charges hidden.

You also claim that the attractive booking price later becomes expensive because of “hidden costs.” In reality, the base rental price, optional services, cross-border fees, cleaning conditions, and other applicable charges were all available before the rental began.

Your past rentals are irrelevant. Conditions, prices, and optional services can change, and the only relevant terms are the ones valid for the reservation you made this time.

Calling disclosed prices “hidden charges” is simply inaccurate. The information was provided in advance, the conditions were applied as written, and dissatisfaction after the fact does not change that.

Your latest comment does not change the facts; it simply replaces them with emotion and accusations.

You describe clearly disclosed rental conditions as "commercial blackmail" because you did not like the consequences of failing to meet them. The requirement that the driving licence, identification document, and payment card correspond was communicated before the rental and applied exactly as written. It was not invented at the counter, and it was not applied only to you.

Claiming that you had "no choice" because your holiday was already planned is not an argument. Every customer arriving without meeting the agreed rental requirements faces the same situation. Personal inconvenience does not invalidate contractual conditions.

Your attempt to portray yourself as a victim of some injustice is equally unconvincing. You were offered a solution that allowed the rental to proceed. You accepted it, took the vehicle, used it for the duration of your rental, and only afterward decided that the conditions you had agreed to were somehow unacceptable.

As for the cleaning charge, the vehicle was not returned in the agreed condition. This was documented by photographs. The charge was therefore applied in accordance with the rental agreement. Repeating that you disagree with the charge does not make it unjustified.

Perhaps the most telling part of your message is that, despite accusing the company of dishonesty, abuse, blackmail, and traps, you do not dispute the existence of the rental conditions themselves. Your complaint is simply that the conditions were enforced.

The rental conditions were disclosed. The alternative option was disclosed. The cleaning policy was disclosed. You accepted them, signed the agreement, used the vehicle, and completed the rental.

Calling this a scam afterward does not change what actually happened.
Si j’aurai mettre -10 je l’aurai fait même pas de compréhension et empathie et d’excuses ce message soulève le point d’un manque d’éducation et de respect envers à la clientèle .

Thank you for your additional comment.

You accuse us of lacking empathy, yet once again avoid addressing the facts that led to the charges. Professionalism does not mean apologizing for correctly applying agreed contractual conditions. It means responding with facts rather than emotions.

You continue to describe clearly disclosed rental conditions as "blackmail," "disrespect," and "injustice," despite the fact that:

1. The payment card requirements were clearly disclosed before the rental.
2. When you did not meet those requirements, an alternative option was offered.
3. You voluntarily accepted that option.
4. You used the vehicle for the entire rental period.
5. The cleaning charge was supported by photographs showing the vehicle's condition at return.

What is truly disappointing is that, instead of acknowledging the facts, you continue to attack the company and its employees with increasingly serious accusations simply because the rental conditions were enforced.

Disagreeing with contractual terms **after** accepting them, signing the agreement, using the vehicle, and completing the rental does not transform those terms into unfair practices.

Our responsibility is to apply the same rules to every customer equally—not to ignore them simply because someone is dissatisfied afterward.

Highly unprofessional experience.

We had a very disappointing experience with this company.

Since a credit card in the driver's name was required at pick-up, I tried to change the driver, or more precisely the person under whose name the reservation had been made, through the DiscoverCars platform well in advance. Unfortunately, the system repeatedly displayed the message "reservation is not available," making the change impossible.

I then attempted to contact the company several times using the official phone numbers listed on their website, both via WhatsApp and by phone. None of my messages received a response, and no one answered the calls.

The vehicle had been booked for my father and his family, who do not speak English well. Given that I had tried to resolve the issue in advance and the company had completely ignored all communication attempts, I expected the staff to make a reasonable effort to help at the rental desk.

Instead, my family was told that they had to purchase additional insurance for EUR 250 per week, otherwise the vehicle would not be released to them. According to the employee, this insurance was required as a substitute for the credit card deposit. My family felt pressured into accepting this additional charge because they urgently needed the vehicle to reach their accommodation.I would also like to note that we had comprehensive travel insurance in place, including coverage for rental vehicles. Nevertheless, this was completely disregarded, and my family was effectively forced to purchase the company's additional insurance for EUR 250 in order to receive the vehicle.

Afterwards, I contacted the company again by email in a polite and professional manner, but I never received any response.

We would not have had any issue paying for additional insurance if the requirement had been communicated clearly, transparently, and in advance. However, the complete lack of communication, the failure to respond to repeated contact attempts, and the pressure applied at the rental desk made this a highly unprofessional experience.

Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this company.

Your review is based largely on expectations that were never part of the rental agreement.

First, the requirement to provide a qualifying credit card in the main driver's name was not introduced at the rental desk. It was clearly stated in the rental conditions and on the voucher before arrival.

Second, your family's private travel insurance and rental vehicle coverage are entirely separate from AVIA's deposit requirements. Third-party insurance does not replace the obligation to secure the rental according to the agreed conditions. This is standard practice throughout the car rental industry.

You repeatedly claim that your family was "forced" to purchase additional insurance. This is simply not true. Because the standard deposit requirements were not met, an alternative rental option was offered. Your family chose that option in order to proceed with the rental and receive the vehicle.

What is particularly remarkable is that this review comes from someone who was not present at the rental desk and is describing events second-hand, while ignoring the fact that the rental was ultimately completed and the vehicle was issued.

As for the attempted driver change, reservations made through third-party booking platforms are subject to the procedures and limitations of those platforms. Difficulties encountered within the DiscoverCars system cannot automatically be attributed to AVIA Rent a Car.

The deposit requirements, accepted payment methods, and available alternatives were disclosed before arrival. The conditions were applied exactly as written.

Terrible experience

Very disappointing experience.

At vehicle collection, I was informed that my bank cards were not acceptable and had to pay an additional €150 for insurance in order to proceed with the rental.

After returning the car, I was charged another €150 for "professional chemical cleaning" after water was spilled on a fabric seat. The company claims that visible marks remained and that chemical cleaning was required. However, the liquid involved was plain water, and I strongly disagree with the conclusion that such a charge was justified.

Most importantly, despite my requests, I have not received any invoice or proof of the actual cleaning costs that would justify a €150 fee.

Customers can draw their own conclusions, but I felt that the additional charges throughout the rental process were excessive and lacked transparency.

I would not choose this company again.

Your review is misleading and omits the most important fact.

You were not charged €150 because "plain water" was spilled in the vehicle. You were charged for professional chemical cleaning of the seat after the vehicle was returned with visible stains on the upholstery.

If this had truly been plain water, there would have been no stains remaining once the seat dried. However, after drying, clearly visible marks remained, indicating that the spilled liquid was not simply water.

The charge was not applied because a seat was wet, but because the seat was left stained and required chemical cleaning to restore it to its original condition for the next customer.

Describing a seat that required professional chemical treatment as "no stains, no damage, no odor — just water" is simply not an accurate representation of the vehicle's condition at return.

The charge was based on the documented condition of the vehicle and the cleaning required, not on assumptions or arbitrary decisions.

Before they start by saying that this…

Before they start by saying that this comment is misleading, exaggerated or inaccurate… just stay away from this rental car.

AVIA RENTAL IN PULA we are frustrated that we weren’t able to get the car we booked online through Check24. We wanted to pay the deposit using a credit card — they didn’t even attempt to process it. They simply stated they don’t accept the card because it’s a “digital card,” even though we handed them the physical card. Their reasoning? It’s an online bank. Well, most banks are online banks now, and we have used this exact card on every trip we’ve taken without any issue.

We then offered my credit card as an alternative, but that was also rejected — because the booking wasn’t under my name. Fair enough as a policy, but what followed was completely unacceptable.

In an effort to find a solution, we contacted Check24 directly. After explaining the full situation, they offered to issue a voucher to change the booking name so we could use the other credit card. We informed both the AVIA supervisor and the other staff member on duty — and they flatly refused. Just like that, we were denied the car we had legitimately booked and paid for.

To make matters worse, Check24 requested a written note from the supervisor confirming that our card was not accepted, so we could at least process a refund. The AVIA supervisor refused to provide that too — meaning we were left with no car AND no path to a refund.

And throughout all of this? The AVIA staff — including the supervisor — were deeply unfriendly, visibly irritated, and wore smirks on their faces as if our frustration was entertaining to them.

Croatia, this is no way to welcome your guests.

Before accusing others of being misleading, you should first look at your own review.

The vehicle was not denied because of "unfriendly staff," but because you arrived without meeting the clearly stated rental requirements and then expected those requirements to be changed on the spot.

The issue was not whether the card was physical or digital. The issue was that the card was issued by an **online banking institution** and did not meet the security deposit pre-authorization requirements clearly stated on the voucher you received from Check24 before arrival.

Claiming that you have used the same card elsewhere is completely irrelevant. AVIA is not obligated to follow the policies of other rental companies, and the conditions applicable to your rental were provided to you before you arrived.

You then attempted to use a second credit card belonging to a different person than the renter named on the reservation. Unsurprisingly, that was also not acceptable under the rental conditions. A rental agreement is a legal contract, not something that can be rewritten at the counter because a customer failed to meet the requirements.

Your criticism of AVIA for refusing a last-minute booking modification is equally misplaced. The fact that Check24 suggested a possible workaround does not oblige the rental company to ignore contractual and security requirements.

Most importantly, every issue you describe was caused by your failure to comply with conditions that were clearly stated on the voucher before arrival. Instead of accepting that, you chose to blame staff members who were simply applying the rules exactly as written.

The vehicle was not denied because of arrogance, hostility, or bad service. It was denied because the rental requirements were not met. Everything else in your review is an attempt to shift responsibility for that fact onto someone else.

I am disappointed with my recent…

I am disappointed with my recent experience with Avia Rent a Car.
After returning the vehicle, I was charged €15 for vehicle cleaning and €35 for a vehicle category upgrade.
The cleaning charge is disputed because the vehicle was already dirty when I collected it, and I have photographs as evidence. The upgrade charge is also disputed because I never requested or agreed to any upgrade.
I contacted customer service and provided the relevant information, but several days have passed without any response.
I understand that mistakes can happen, but I expect clear communication, supporting documentation for any additional charges, and a timely response to customer complaints.
I hope Avia will review my case and resolve this matter fairly.

Update after the company's response:
The company states that I accepted a vehicle upgrade due to my early arrival. However, I was never informed that accepting the alternative vehicle would incur an additional €35 charge. I also have photographs showing that the vehicle was already dirty on the exterior when collected.

Thank you for your review.

Unfortunately, several statements in your review are inaccurate.

First of all, the vehicle category charge did not arise because an upgrade was imposed on you. You arrived **significantly earlier than your reserved pick-up time**, and the vehicle assigned to your reservation was not yet ready. You were therefore offered two options: wait for the reserved vehicle or take an immediately available vehicle from a higher category. You chose the latter option and used the vehicle for the entire rental period.

It is therefore misleading to suggest that a vehicle was upgraded without your knowledge or consent.

Regarding the cleaning charge, the vehicle was returned **dirty and did not comply with the agreed return standard**, which is why the cleaning fee was applied.

You also claim that the vehicle was dirty when collected. However, all vehicles are cleaned, prepared, and inspected before being released for a new rental, and their condition is documented at check-out and return.

Most importantly, you accepted the alternative vehicle offered due to your early arrival, used it throughout the entire rental period, and returned it in a condition that required additional cleaning. Presenting these documented facts as unfair or unexplained charges is simply not accurate.

Never again!!Stay away

Never again!!Stay away! The car we picked up at Dubrovnik airport was as expected. The additional fee for taking a ferry in Croatia was clearly stated. However were we unpleasantly surprised by the €50 charge to staff the office at 7 am as we had a 9am flight. We also agree with others that a €15 cleaning fee is unusual and not “industry standard”‘in our experience. The biggest problem however was how they dealt with our flat tire. When I called them, they said it would be cheaper for us to deal with it ourselves and claim through our own insurance. They sent the name of a towing company and we replaced the tire. When we returned the car, they said we had needed to change both rear tires and claimed they had said this on the phone. They had not although they will dispute this. We had to pay for two new tires after already paying for a used one during our emergency road side flat. They also charged us for damage under the car bumper that we could not see. When I asked if they would consider waiving the €75 processing fee, as a good will gesture given that we ended up paying for 3 tires, they aggressively declined. Never did they express any kind of understanding for how difficult and stressful the situation was for us. This company has many reviews referring to aggressive communication and excessive charges. Their responses to complaints left on this site leave a great deal to be desired. They hide behind “industry standard” and “stated in the contract”. We have rented many times all over Europe and their standards are pathetic. Go elsewhere, pay a bit more to pay less!

Your review is exaggerated, misleading, and deliberately omits key facts.

First, the **Out of Hours fee** was not a surprise. Your reserved pick-up and return time was **09:30**, yet you used a service outside regular working hours. This fee is clearly stated in the rental terms you accepted before the rental.

You also selected **basic insurance**, which does not cover tire damage. Therefore, the tire-related costs and administrative handling fee were processed according to the rental agreement, not according to goodwill or personal expectations.

The damage found at return was also not some “invisible” issue under the car. The vehicle was returned with **visible damage to the lower front bumper area**, documented during the inspection.

It is completely unreasonable to choose basic insurance, return the vehicle with tire and bumper damage, request out-of-hours service, and then accuse the company of being a “rip-off” because the agreed charges were applied.

The facts are simple: the fees were disclosed, the insurance level was your choice, the damage was documented, and the rental conditions were applied exactly as signed.

Your review is misleading because every charge you mention was clearly communicated before the rental began.

First of all, the vehicle was collected at **21:46**, as clearly recorded on the signed rental agreement, which is **outside our regular working hours**. The **Out of Hours (OOH) fee** is clearly stated in the rental terms and reservation conditions provided before arrival. The fact that your flight was delayed is unfortunate, but it does not remove the cost of providing staff and service outside normal operating hours.

Secondly, the €12 cleaning option was entirely optional. It is offered to customers who prefer not to clean the vehicle themselves before return and is clearly explained at pick-up.

What you falsely suggest is that the €35 charge is a penalty for not purchasing the €12 option. It is not. The €35 charge applies when a vehicle is returned in a condition that does not meet the agreed return standard. Had the vehicle been returned in the required condition, no cleaning charge would have applied.

Every fee you mention was clearly disclosed before and during the rental process and accepted by signing the rental agreement. Presenting clearly communicated contractual charges as a "scam" is simply dishonest.

Your review is misleading and omits essential facts.

The cleaning charge was not applied solely because of a few insects on the front bumper. The vehicle did not meet the agreed return cleanliness standard, which was documented during the return inspection.

The clean to clean / clean to dirty policy is clearly stated in the rental terms, reservation voucher, and explained at pick-up. Customers are free to return the vehicle in the agreed condition themselves or choose the prepaid cleaning option.

Your statement suggests that taking photos before return somehow proves the vehicle met the agreed standard. Photographs do not change the actual condition of the vehicle at the time of inspection. The return assessment was based on the documented condition of the vehicle, not assumptions.

The refund request was rejected because the charge was applied in accordance with the rental conditions you accepted, not because of a lack of evidence.

Thousands of customers return vehicles every year without cleaning charges. Disagreeing with a clearly communicated policy does not make it unfair.

I’m not recommending this company

I’m not recommending this company. Today I had a bad experienced with this company when I returned a car. When I picked up the car I payed additional 15 Euro to don’t clean the car by myself. What was my surprised during return when the company charged my by 170 Euro for chemical cleaning because on the passenger seat was a small sea salt stain. My mistake because I didn’t take any pictures outside and inside the car when I picked them up.
The funniest and most disappointing thing about this whole situation is that the baby seat and the booster seat rented with the car were dirty, and the cost of renting them is disproportionate to the entire car rental.
I warn anyone renting a car against taking photos of the interior or exterior of the car. As for Avia, I will definitely never rent a car from them again. They treated me with extreme arrogance and no understanding. I'm sure the stain on the seat can be cleaned with a damp cloth.

Your review is highly misleading and deliberately minimizes what actually happened.

The €15 cleaning option you purchased covers **standard vehicle cleaning only**. It does not cover stains, spills, contamination of upholstery, or situations requiring professional chemical treatment. This distinction was not invented after the fact—it is part of the rental conditions.

What was found at return was not ordinary dirt from normal vehicle use. The vehicle was returned with a **visible salt stain on the passenger seat**, requiring professional upholstery cleaning. Attempting to describe this as something that could simply be wiped away with a damp cloth is wishful thinking, not a fact.

You also conveniently admit that you did not take any photos when collecting the vehicle. Yet despite having no evidence whatsoever, you imply that the stain may have already been there. Such speculation does not override the documented vehicle condition.

Even more ironic is your criticism of the cleanliness of the child seats while simultaneously returning the vehicle with a stained seat and then claiming the resulting cleaning charge was unfair.

Your accusations of arrogance are equally unfounded. Explaining contractual obligations and documented damage or contamination is not arrogance. The fact that you disagreed with the outcome does not make it unreasonable.

The reality is simple: you paid for standard cleaning, returned the vehicle with a stained seat requiring professional chemical treatment, and the applicable charge was applied. Instead of accepting responsibility, you chose to portray a documented issue as unfair treatment.

Just go elsewhere and save your sanity

Genuinly one of the worst and most difficult car rental companies Ive had the displeasure of dealing with. I was charged 350 euros for a car park ding when I returned the car. They will also try to upsell everyone a more expensive car by saying there car isnt available yet. Just use a different company without all of the extra hidden charges in their voucher. The price you see on Discover Cars is not what you will end up paying.

Reply from Avia Rent a car

Your review is misleading and omits several important facts.

The €350 charge was not applied because of a harmless "car park ding" as you casually describe it. The vehicle was returned with documented damage that was not present at check-out and was identified during the return inspection. Damage charges are based on documented vehicle condition, not on customer opinions after the fact.

Your claim that we "upsell everyone" is equally false. In your case, you arrived before the reserved pick-up time and were offered an available vehicle from a higher category rather than waiting for the vehicle assigned to your reservation. Customers are always free to wait for their reserved category. Accepting an alternative vehicle is a choice, not an upsell.

As for the alleged "hidden charges", every fee, deposit requirement, insurance condition, cleaning policy, and optional service is clearly stated during the booking process and on the voucher issued by Discover Cars. Conditions that are clearly disclosed before arrival are not hidden simply because you chose not to read them.

The statement that "the price you see is not what you pay" is also misleading. Customers who comply with the rental conditions and return the vehicle in the agreed condition pay exactly what they booked. Additional charges arise only when additional services are selected or when the vehicle is returned with damage or in a condition that does not comply with the rental agreement.

Documented damage remains documented damage, regardless of how it is described in a review afterward.

Your review is false and misleading.

A reservation can be made with almost any type of card because this is simply a payment transaction. However, the deposit is a completely different type of transaction with different security requirements. A virtual credit card does not meet those requirements, which is clearly stated in the rental terms and on the reservation voucher you received from the agency.

Since you failed to provide an accepted physical credit card for the deposit, you were offered an alternative option without deposit, including additional insurance. That is standard procedure, not “forced” insurance.

Regarding the scratch, you admit yourself that it was already listed on the damage report. That confirms our documentation was accurate and transparent.

Calling this a “scam” while confirming that the damage was documented is completely baseless and unacceptable.

Unfair

Zagreb: 29/04/2026: Everything went fine, until I returned the car. When I walked to the office with an unfriendly guy, he told me the car was very dirty and that this would cost an extra 35 euros. I didn't even get the chance to take some photos. The car was clean! These are mafia practices to fleece customers out of their cheap money. This was so unfair. One star is to much !

Your statement is incorrect and exaggerated.

Cleaning fees are not applied arbitrarily, but only when the vehicle is not returned in the agreed condition, in accordance with the clean to clean policy.

All conditions, including cleaning requirements, are clearly stated on the reservation voucher you received from the agency.

Claims of “mafia practices” are completely inappropriate and unfounded.

Your review is inaccurate and misleading.

The vehicle was not used for two transfers of 35 km, but for a total of 192 km, which is clearly documented. The car was also returned in a condition that did not meet the agreed cleanliness standard, which is why a cleaning fee was applied.

Cleaning charges are applied strictly according to the clean to clean policy, which is clearly stated in the rental terms, during booking, and on the reservation voucher you accepted.

Presenting this as “rip-off” or “danger” is completely unfounded.

Nie wieder Avia! Achtung erhebliche Mehrkosten!

Never again Avia! They charged me 9 € for washing the car and 35 € for the winter tires. You won‘t get the car without paying the additional fee. In my oppinion, this borders on a rip-off/fraud, as you‘re not informed of this beforehand.

All charges, including the vehicle cleaning fee and winter tires, are clearly stated in the rental terms and explicitly listed on the voucher provided before vehicle pickup.
The cleaning fee is charged only when a vehicle is returned in a condition that exceeds normal use and requires special cleaning. A vehicle is never withheld arbitrarily, but only in accordance with the signed contract.

Any suggestion of fraud or a “rip-off” is categorically rejected. Should you believe an error was made in your specific case, we invite you to contact us directly with your reservation details.

Disgusting Company.

Disgusting Company.
I rented a vehicle from them for 5 days in September with no issues, only to then be sent a parking fine months later.
When asked to supply photo evidence of this as I was not aware of any fine, they sent a random picture of a car with the number plate blanked out.
After going back and forth with Avia and then also with Pula Parking (Which they suggested i contact directly), they then stopped replying and charged my card anyway at 3 times the price of the intial rental (£122.47). This has now led to a formal charge back through my bank as they were unable to supply the basic evidence needed for a parking fine.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCAMMING COMPANY.

Reply to your response :

Unfortunately for you, I have the whole email trail showing this situation, along with the picture you provided that does not show the registration of the number plate of the vehicle during the time of the alleged offence.
So, for you to say I knew about the ticket and chose not to pay this, is false and untrue, but again, I expect nothing less from your company as you have shown poor character and professionalism throughout this process so far.
When i questioned AVIA about the validity of the photo of the vehicle and the fact it DOES NOT show a registration plate (even though you say it does..?) Avia simply stated “It is not in a position to challenge the validity of materials issued by the official parking authority”. Following this, you also said that the photos provided by Pula Parking “are not of a professional nature”.
With this in mind, I do not see why I should have to pay for an alleged fine which I was unaware of, when you cannot provide the basic evidence needed in a situation like this.
You were then quick enough to jump on here a reply.. but when it came to replying to me after I said I had spoken with Pula Parking as advised by AVIA.. no response.. then you charged my card anyway.
Shocking customer service and even more shocking response from you.
STAY AWAY PEOPLE!

We will be absolutely clear, firm and unapologetic, because the accusations you made are not only false, but deliberately misleading.
You rented our vehicle, and an official €99 parking fine was issued while the car was in your possession. You were the driver. You were responsible. You had every opportunity to pay the fine on the spot — you chose not to. As the legal owner of the vehicle, the fine was later delivered to us, exactly as the law requires, and we forwarded it to you immediately. This is standard procedure for every rental company in Europe.
The additional €15 administration fee is stated clearly in the rental terms you accepted. It applies to every customer, without exception, whenever we must handle official violation documentation. Nothing about this charge is unusual, hidden, or questionable.
Your claim that we provided a “random picture” or that something was “blanked out” is simply untrue. Nothing was blurred, altered, or removed. The printed document you received contains the exact time, exact location, and the full registration number of the vehicle at the moment the violation occurred. This is official evidence from Pula Parking, not something created by us.
Instead of acknowledging the facts, you chose to make accusations that have no basis in reality.
Calling our company “disgusting” or a “scam” is unacceptable and entirely unsupported by any facts. You violated parking rules, the authorities issued a fine, and we processed it exactly as required by law and by the contract you signed. Avia team

Response to your replay:We will address this without any ambiguity, because what you are claiming is demonstrably false and ignores every documented fact in this case.

Your suggestion that there was “no proper evidence” is simply not true. The official notice from Pula Parking includes the vehicle’s registration number, the exact time, and the exact location of the violation. These are the only legally valid identifiers required. Nothing was obscured, nothing removed, nothing altered.
You repeating the opposite does not change the reality of the document you received.

Your statement that you “didn’t know about the fine” is false. The violation occurred while the vehicle was in your possession, and you were informed immediately once the fine was issued to us as the legal owner. Claiming ignorance does not erase an officially recorded violation.

Your accusations about our “character” and “professionalism” are baseless and appear to be an attempt to shift responsibility away from yourself. The fact remains: you committed a parking violation, and the issuing authority documented it clearly.

You also claim you received “no reply,” yet the correspondence shows the opposite. You were clearly told:

that this was an official fine,

that AVIA cannot alter or dismiss government-issued evidence,

and that any challenge must be directed to Pula Parking — which you yourself confirmed you contacted.

Your attempt to spin this into a story of us “ignoring you” is simply untrue.

Suggesting that we charged your card “without explanation” is again false. The charge was processed only after all official documentation was provided, and strictly in accordance with the rental contract you signed. Nothing was done outside of the legal or contractual framework.

Your “warning to others” is not based on facts — it is based on your refusal to accept responsibility for a documented violation.

To be absolutely clear:

The fine was real.

The evidence was complete.

The process was correct.

And your accusations are entirely unfounded.

**"Your review is completely false and intentionally defamatory. You received exactly the vehicle category **CFMR (VW T-Cross)** that you reserved. The agreed return time was **13:00**, yet you arrived **after 14:00**, disregarding the rental terms you had accepted.

At both pick-up and return, your behavior toward our staff was **unacceptable** — you used **offensive language**, refused to carry out the standard vehicle inspection, and **threw the car key on the counter before leaving**. Such conduct is completely disrespectful and intolerable.

No cleaning fee was charged, and all other charges were applied correctly and transparently, in full accordance with the **rental terms you accepted when making your booking**. These same conditions are **clearly stated on the voucher** you received from the booking agency.

Your accusations are entirely false, malicious, and misleading. Avia Rent a Car operates **professionally, lawfully, and with full transparency**, and we will not tolerate fabricated claims or offensive behavior toward our employees."**

Avoid that rental car

They are competitive with lower car rental costs, but then they will charge you for everything additionally. They do not accept all types of credit cards for depositing (in our case it was the Master card that we have been using for years all over Europe and Croatia) in order to force you to take insurance that you may not need. When returning the car, they expect you to wash it, but they don't inform you about it in advance, they just charge you extra for that washing. Unprofessional and unfriendly staff. In short: NEVER AGAIN!!!

**"Your review is misleading and does not reflect the facts. All payment, deposit, and insurance conditions are clearly stated before booking and again on the rental voucher you received. Only genuine credit cards that meet international security authorization standards can be used for deposits — this is not our rule, but an industry standard applied by all professional rental companies.

Additional insurance is always optional and never mandatory. As for vehicle cleaning, this requirement is also clearly written in the rental terms you accepted before signing. The cleaning fee is applied only when the car is returned visibly dirty and not ready for the next customer.

Our staff acted according to procedure and in line with company policy. We reject unfounded accusations of unprofessional or dishonest behavior — Avia Rent a Car operates transparently, lawfully, and equally toward every customer."**
