We had an excellent experience with…

We had an excellent experience with this rental. From the outset, communication was clear and professional, which made the entire process smooth and stress-free.

When we arrived on March 22 at 8:00 a.m., Marino provided outstanding service. He was thoughtful, respectful, and highly professional throughout the interaction. He took the time to ensure everything was clearly explained and went above and beyond by upgrading us to a nicer vehicle, which made our trip even more comfortable.

Overall, this was a seamless and very positive rental experience. I would not hesitate to rent here again and highly recommend this location to others.

excellent experience

I had an excellent experience with this rent-a-car company from start to finish. The entire process was smooth, professional, and stress-free. The vehicle was clean, well-maintained, and exactly as described.
What truly stood out was the staff. They were incredibly friendly, efficient, and accommodating, making the whole process quick and hassle-free. Their professionalism and positive attitude left a lasting impression.

Good Business Earns Repeat Business

This company, in my experience, understands traveler needs and expectations.

Borderline scammers

Borderline scammers. Clear from all the reviews even from other country Sixt pages. Meant to pay £150 they took £500, tried to dispute through CC company but no luck.

Scammers

Scammers. They charge you the double of the real price of a fine for "administrative charges". DANGEROUS NO RENT WITH THIS PEOPLE NEVER. EXTRA CHARGES 100%

Worst experience hiring a car ever

We got one of our worst experience hiring a car ever.
The people working there got very rude and put a crazy pressure on us to force us to go with the full insurance package, what we didn't want to take. They refused to let us pay until we agreed to take it. I strongly recommend against renting with this car rental.

Terrible assistance

Terrible assistance:
Paid for a rent with averything cover. When I called , I had to try several times in order to have answer.
Tô return the car at Zagreb, also terrible. No one informed me that I should let in a parking _ from the opposote: the app says "for devolution" 24 hours / 7days*week. The emprloyer in cherge gave me wrong directions, lied that was trying to call me (she sent an email infomring that was trying to call me, I replied that she was lying , she called).

SIXT Split agencie

I booked a car from Split agencie, and during the pick-up, my contact offered to set aside a full tank of gasoline, making sure that if I returned the car with half of the gas, this amount would be returned to me up to the level of the gas bin. BUT the invoice that was given to me when I turned back the car in Zagreb, includes the total amount of a full tank of gasoline, while we returned the car with a half-empty tank. I wrote an email to the customer service who replies that this procedure is in accordance with their general conditions; it’s THEFT!

I had a fantastic experience renting a car from SIXT (Dubrovnik Airport). The booking process was smooth and straightforward online, and the staff at the counter, especially Marko, the manager, and Mario Mustapici, was incredibly welcoming and efficient. They clearly explained all the terms and conditions and answered my questions without any pressure. The car itself was clean, well-maintained, and in excellent condition, making for a very comfortable and reliable trip. Returning the vehicle was just as easy, with the staff confirming everything quickly and efficiently. I highly recommend SIXT (Dubrovnik Airport) for anyone needing a rental car and would definitely use them again. Thank you!

Double charge for car rental due to ambiguous contract and aggressive sail strategy

I had paid the car rental from Split Airport in advance, and asked to add a second driver at the desk. The employee at the desk told me that the second driver would be included in the insurance. I never subscribe extra insurance, but I needed a second driver. I asked if the rental fee, the second driver and the insurance were included in the costs she prospected me, she answered yes. The contract reports “€ 239, rental included” But I was charged € 239 on top of the fee I had already paid for the car rental.

The employee also nudged me into a full-empty fuel construction that appeared to be far from advantageous.

Her English was poor, her sail strategy aggressive.

VW Golf and Dacia similar?

We rented a VW Golf or similar and got a Dacia. 4 weels and 4 seats and room for 3 bags? at Split airport there was a long queue and extremely slow processing time at Sixt. The clerk spoke very quickly and indistinctly, she didn't seem to explain herself properly, when we didn't understand what she was saying she used the same words, the same indistinct English and the same pace. I think Sixt should advertise with a Dacia or similar. And some extra traning for the staff.

Tuvimos un sobrecoste del 50% frente a lo reservado online. No nos dieron opciones de elegir, simplemente lo aplicaron. Recogimos nuestro coche en el aeropuerto de Dubrovnik. Nos vacilaban en la oficina.

Imali smo 50% dodatnih troškova u odnosu na ono što smo rezervirali online. Nisu nam dali nikakve mogućnosti izbora, jednostavno su to primijenili. Preuzeli smo naš automobil na aerodromu u Dubrovniku. U uredu su nam se izrugivali.

Sixt blames customers even when not at fault – avoid at all costs

We had a very disappointing and frustrating experience with Sixt during our rental in Croatia.

Our rental car was parked when it was hit by another driver. Together with the other driver, who was still present at the scene, we immediately contacted the police. They refused to come simply because there were no injuries. Afterwards, we personally went to the traffic police office in Dubrovnik, but they also refused to help us. It felt as if they simply did not want to deal with tourists.

Since we were continuing our trip, our only option was to go to the traffic police in Split. There, the incident was finally registered and we were told a police report would be made and sent directly to Sixt’s insurance. When I asked for a copy, they said it was not possible and insisted it would go directly to Sixt. We later provided this information to Sixt, but they now claim they never received anything, and as a result they are treating us as if we are at fault – which is simply false.

We submitted the European Accident Statement together with all required documents from the other driver (license, insurance, green card). This is sufficient for Sixt to claim damages from the other driver’s insurance, yet they still charged us the full €825 deposit. This means they could be paid twice: once from us, and again from the other party’s insurer. That is nothing short of fraud.

On top of this, contacting Sixt Dubrovnik was a nightmare. Calls were often not answered, sometimes cut off in the middle because “they had a customer,” and promises to call us back were never kept. Only when we drove back to their office in person did we finally get the customer service email address. We sent emails right away, but never received a reply. I also contacted the Split police afterwards by email, but again received no answer.

This entire situation cost us a lot of money for something that was absolutely not our fault, as well as two full days of our holiday wasted on endless calls, emails, and driving between police stations and Sixt offices.

I strongly advise everyone to avoid renting with Sixt. Even if you provide all necessary documents for them to recover costs from the other driver’s insurance, they will still charge you and treat you as if you are at fault.

Not as bad as others say

Reading the reviews on here I was nervous about collecting a car for a trip to Montenegro from Dubrovnik Airport. In reality the process was seamless and there was no need to worry. The only additional fee we paid was the cross border charge which we expected. All staff were friendly and helpful.

I would recommend that you make sure you know what you are doing before you go. Make sure you get your own excess insurance and be clear that you don't need their insurance and make sure you have a credit card to avoid deposit complications. I think if you are clear you will have no problem.

Avoid Sixt Croatia

I’ve been a loyal Sixt customer for years, but my recent experience with Sixt Croatia has left me shocked and disillusioned. I rented a vehicle from Split Airport in May and was later charged €962.50 for minor damage—despite allegedly having purchased “Super Top Cover” insurance from Sixt ( They forced me to buy) . I was never shown the full policy terms at pickup or via email, and repeated requests for documentation have gone unanswered.
The lack of transparency, aggressive upselling, and refusal to provide proof of coverage are unacceptable. What’s worse, Sixt is now threatening to pass this disputed charge to a debt collector, even though I’ve been proactively communicating with them to resolve the issue.
After reviewing other customer feedback on this platform, I realize I’m far from alone. An overwhelming number of reviewers—many describing nearly identical experiences—suggest this is not an isolated incident but a systemic problem within Sixt Croatia’s operations.
Renters beware. Avoid Sixt Croatia. And if you still choose to rent with Sixt, demand everything in writing. They will mislead you with aggressive upselling and a complete lack of transparency.

Scammers.

I made a rental last July at Split airport, very bad experience, they added some expenses that they had not told me about, on the contract there were extras but they reassured me by telling me that in reality I did not have to pay them and now I find myself having lost on my account 400 euros, a real scam, I trusted thinking it was a good agency, now I'm asking for the chargeback from my bank.
