We rented a Kia Picanto with around 11,000 km on the odometer, and it was perfect for our trip to Sardinia. The car came fully equipped with a rear-view camera, reliable navigation, and Apple CarPlay. It offered plenty of space for our luggage while remaining compact and easy to park in tight spots.
The rental staff were extremely friendly and helpful throughout the entire process. Both picking up and returning the car was quick and efficient, saving us valuable time. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a smooth and pleasant car rental experience!

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE- INSURANCE CONFUSION
We rented a car on line with Autovia and it took about 2 hours at the airport! The man at the counter spent most of his time trying to upsell us on insurance and a higher end car - no company forms - simply wrote unintentionally confusing amounts on a scrap of paper . Sent us to the wrong building to get the car - currently still driving the car which is fine - HOWEVER WE STILL DON’T KNOW WHAT LEVEL OF INSURANCE WE HAVE - HAVE TD VISA INFINITE CARD WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO PROVIDE ALL THE REQUIRED INSURANCE AND TD REQUIRES US TO TURN DOWN LOCAL CDW - AUTOVIA SAYS WE CANNOT- A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE

we are sorry for the long waiting time and, above all, for the lack of clarity you describe at pick-up.
It is important to clarify that the basic CDW is normally already included in the Autovia rental rate and represents a contractual limitation of the customer’s financial liability. It is therefore not an additional protection product purchased separately at the desk. Any further protection plans are optional and are designed to reduce or eliminate, within the applicable conditions, the customer’s financial liability.
Any coverage provided through your credit card is separate from the Autovia rental agreement and is subject to the terms set by your card issuer.
We are also sorry that the costs and protection levels were not explained clearly enough. Customers should always be able to understand exactly which services they have agreed to purchase.

After the rental period I was forgotten my handbag. It was still in the car. The employee was very helpfull so that I had enough time to catch my flight home.

Left stranded at 11pm despite booking and all documents
We arrived to collect our pre-booked car with every document in hand: driving licence, ID, booking confirmation and a valid credit card. Autovia refused to hand over the car because their system supposedly didn't give "authorization to proceed" on my card. It's a regularly issued credit card from Hanseatic Bank, a well-known German bank, with plenty of available credit, and I've used it for several car rentals before without any problem.
No alternative was offered and no real effort was made to resolve it. We were simply left stranded at the airport at 11pm. A booking is supposed to guarantee you a car. With Autovia it apparently guarantees nothing. Avoid if you can't afford to be left without transport at the last minute.

we are sorry for the inconvenience you experienced, especially given the late hour and the fact that you were left without transport.
In order to release the vehicle, in addition to presenting an eligible credit card, the required pre-authorisation used as the rental guarantee must actually be approved through the banking system. Having sufficient available credit, or having successfully used the same card with other rental companies, does not automatically guarantee that the transaction will be authorised.
If the system is unable to obtain the required authorisation, the rental cannot be completed using that card.
We are nevertheless sorry that, in the situation you describe, no suitable alternative was found and that you were left at the airport without adequate assistance.

I collected the vehicle at Verona…
I collected the vehicle at Verona Airport. The rental desk and the vehicle pick-up location are located directly next to the airport, approximately a two-minute walk away.
The registration and vehicle collection process was very quick, and I received the keys almost immediately. During the inspection of the vehicle, I noticed some damages that were not listed in the original documentation. I informed the employee at the rental desk and showed them photographs of the damages I had found. The employee reviewed the photographs and confirmed that, taking the documented damages into account, I could proceed with my journey.
The vehicle was clean both inside and outside. At the time of collection, the mileage was slightly over 12,000 km.
The vehicle return process was also very quick and took approximately five minutes. I parked the vehicle in the designated parking area and showed the employee photographs of the parked vehicle from all sides, confirming its condition at the time of return. As there were no new damages, the employee accepted the vehicle and took the keys from me.
I then proceeded to the airport to catch my flight.
The security deposit that had been blocked on my account was released the following day after I returned the

We landed at 10:45am, it took us until 12pm to find a shuttle that takes us to their location because the phone number they said to call for pick up did not answer. We arrive and wait in a 2 hour line in the heat and garbage everywhere just for them to tell us that we can’t rent a car because we do not have an international license. Then they said we can’t get our money back. This place is a scam!

we are sorry for the long wait, the difficulty in reaching the shuttle service and the conditions you describe at the location. However, we cannot accept Autovia being described as a “scam”.
For driving licences issued outside the European Union or European Economic Area, an International Driving Permit or an official translation may be required in addition to the valid national licence, depending on the applicable rules. If the documents required to drive legally in Italy are not available, the vehicle cannot be released.
Regarding the refund, this also depends on the channel through which the booking was made and the relevant booking conditions. If you believe your driving licence documentation met the requirements, please contact customercare@autovia.it with your booking details and the country that issued your licence so that the case can be reviewed.
