Deceptive Sales Tactics

Deceptive Sales Tactics. I bought star wars lego reduced from 23 to 18 euros. Was disappointed by the TINY box. Later I discovered it was full price at smiths for 16 euros. Waste of time and money :(((

Absolute joke of a scam company

Absolute joke of a scam company. Do not waste your time or energy buying off them. Ordered and paid for an American Style fridge freezer off the irish website but they don't deliver these in Ireland! Only found this out a week after when they sent a text saying my ordered was cancelled, so had to ring them and was told they don't deliver these in Ireland??? Why have it on the website and take payment for it? They still have the €1000 I paid for it. Absolute shambles of a company. Avoid at all costs

Abysmal - Never delivered item!

Where to begin! I ordered a fridge from Argos as mine had died. The website showed me my nearest store (Navan) and said they were delivering withing 5 working days. When the order went through, the delivery date was three weeks away! I phoned customer service but there was nothing they could do, so I decided to go the three weeks with no fridge. Then delivery day comes, and aside from a generic reminder text the day before, there was zero contact from them or the delivery driver. I rang customer services again who assured me the fridge was out for delivery, that the driver had gotten delayed that morning but would deliver to me by 7pm. It never happened, there was no delivery, and when I again rang customer service (uk based) all they would say that 'Dublin' weren't picking up the phone. Ultimately I had to cancel the order, but had to chase them up two weeks after that, as they had never put my cancellation or refund through! An absolute nightmare from beginning to end and I would warn everyone to avoid them at all costs

Waste of time

This review is in relation to a watch I bought yesterday. An offer to buy two watches for 25 euro. One of the watches is ok but the Spirit watch which is a bracelet one is not an expanding bracelet. It is too short to over my hand. Inside the box is a paper measure to measure your wrist size and then you are instructed to send it back to Solihull in the UK with a cheque for £3.50 to have the bracelet adjusted to fit. So not such a bargain after all. The watch comes in a plastic see through box but you can't see that the bracelet doesn't expand or that there isn't an open and close catch on it either. So, as the hand is bigger than the wrist it would never fit and would only be hanging. Why did they not put an expanding bracelet on it in the first place? I will have to take it back but it's caused a big inconvenience as I have a long way to travel.

Disgraceful customer service and delivery times

Their website says next day delivery on small items which is completely false. I placed an order expecting next day delivery, it arrived over a week later after Fastway claimed multiple times that it was delivered/delivery attempted when they had not bothered to even try deliver. This is typical of Fastway. I got onto Argos customer service team who iniatially did not respond to me, so I had to email again then they called me by the wrong name, did not answer any question I asked, would not let me speak to a manager and after a week of no delivery I had Diane (based in the UK) try to tell me how eircodes work and that I must have the wrong eircode for my own address. She even found an eircode of some other house nowhere near mine and tried to say that house must be mine. She never bothered to ask Fastway why they hadn't delivered or what they were doing claiming it had been delivered when it had not. Fastway never said I had the wrong eircode but Diane just made the assumption that an Irish person must not know their own eircode. Absolutely shocking customer service that was rude and insulting towards me. I am now waiting on a refund for delivery charges it is yet to be seen if they can even get that right. I am never buying from Argos again. If I could give 0 stars I would. I refuse to use any websites that use Fastway also.

Do not buy from Argos

I tried to place an online order three times, and all three times money was deducted and then returned to my card within hours. I contacted the customer service team who told me there was nothing wrong with the website, but I was able to order from other sites without issue so it was not my card that was the problem. Ended up missing out on the online discount code and next day delivery as I had to go in store to buy items. When referred to customer service team in Ireland, my email was ignored. Will never buy from Argos again.

Useless

If I had of know "fastway" would be delivering my purchase I wouldn't have ordered at all. This should he made clear when making a purchase. I avoid fastway at all costs. I now have a missing delivery that fastway say they delivered. I've recieved nothing and now have to go thought the waiting game to see where my property is. I will never order anything from Argos again unless they use a trustworthy and competent courier company.

Argos.ie needs a lot of work

The Irish version of the Argos website is disgraceful compared to the UK version of their site. The site isn't mobile friendly, it looks like something that was created using a bad WordPress template from 20 years ago. The items in the UK site have more pictures, videos and better descriptions.

They should not be allowed to trade here using a website like that which has clearly been neglected or has not been devoted as much development as your UK site.

It's as thought they don't really care about their Irish customers. Appalling and disgraceful.

Used to be my go to retailer.

Used to be my go to retailer as one local but how can you retain customers without stock? I am not talking small things but have tried to purchase printer, laptop as well as treadmill to no avail. Glad I don't own shares as I don't think it has long left. Such a shame.

A sad decline in what was a great store

Before argos was bought over there stock levels were phenomenal most of the time, as soon a they were bought out stocks were run down immediately, nothing to do with covid shipping or any other excuse. In the last 12-18 month I've tried to make significant purchases 28 times and 26 were unsuccessful, I wouldn't even visit a store as its always a waisted journey.

Why bother trading if you have no…

Why bother trading if you have no stock? I don't know but Argos seems to think that's the way to do things. No matter what you try to buy, no matter where you look for it, no matter what alternatives they offer, they just don't have it. A piece of advice for the owners of Argos? Try getting something in to sell, that way your customers won't get as pi##ed off as they were obviously are (read the previous reviews, they speak volumes)& you might find you actually make some money

IT suitcase deception

IT suitcase.
Their large suitcase 114 litres Argos reference 409 9969 claims to be 3.5 kgs, its not, its 4.5 kgs.
I bought 2 from Argos, weighed both, and each one weighed 4.5 kgs.
Is it the IT Suitcase manufacturers, or Argos deceiving their customers ?

Very disappointed in Argos.

After shopping around for some time locally looking for a new suite for my living room I tried Argos and was pleasantly surprised to see a combination there that fit the bill.
The website said all items were in stock and available for home delivery within 5 working days, so I dropped over €1300 on this suite then...."Error 404 Page not Found" with a further message telling me my card has not been charged... having been stung before I immediately checked my account and to my absolute horror the money had been taken! I immediately tried to contact Argos Ireland and called the number which connected me to the Argos UK center where they had to transfer me to another dept for Argos Ireland even though the number I called was on the Irish site. There was no record of the transaction, Argos said they didn't have my money, nor any record of my purchase, at the very best they said my payment may be on hold for some reason and were well mannered but couldn't help me at all so I called my bank, they were on point and sure of themselves, they told me the money had left my account and had definitely gone to Argos!!
I got in the car and called in personally to my local Argos and explained what had happened wondering could they shed some light on what was after going on, they were quite helpful and explained that this happens more and more often when items are out of stock and the website isn't updated - something I sadly find as common these days as the sun rising every morning, Argos is ANOTHER one of these companies who advertises stock that is not on the shelves and while you part with your money the wait for restock is transferred to you, and I've heard all the reasons for this abysmal performance by businesses by now "oh its Brexit.... oh its because of Coronvirus....oh its the war...." never waste a good crisis to cover for extremely poor business practice.
I now have to wait for Argos' system to refund my money to my bank before I take my business elsewhere.
Thanks for the afternoon of BS Argos, I'll bear all of this in mind when considering any future purchases.
