Recently moved to New Zealand from Ireland and signed up for a 1 week free trial, I’m in Auckland for 1 week before I head to wellington and they didn’t honour my 1 week pass because my address right now is a hostel lol. Absolutely pathetic and it doesn’t mention it anywhere in their t&c. Going by their reviews online they aren’t a good gym to join! Would be avoiding

It has been quite a while that I am…

It has been quite a while that I am willing to write this email and I am not even sure if someone will get to read it but the extent of my astonishment regarding your franchising in the UK is unbearable.
The UK and specifically LONDON has the worse anytime gym on EARTH. I have USA, Australia, Italy, Philippines, Thailand , Spain etc and ALL PF THEM are decent places. But in the UK you dont get half of a decent service and equipment you get anywhere else. The gyms here are dirty, lack of equipments, small, sticking people, AGGRESSIVE MANAGER (Chelsea) . The high street Kingston branch is so disgusting, dirty, OLD, ALL EQUIPMENTS ARE BROKEN and the chocking part is it is on the underground of a 5 stars hotel???? LIKE WHAT??? WHERE THE OWNER IS PUTTING THE MONEY THEY GET FROM MEMBERS? It looks like a laundry money place seriously….
I have worked for the company and now I am a member because UNFORTUNATELY the zone i live in London that’s the only accessible gym for me. Otherwise I wouldn’t use this gym at all.
You guys need to do something. IT IS UNBELIEVABLE A CITY LIKE LONDON HAS THE WORSE FITNESS gyms in the world.

Avoid this gym at all costs!

I hope anyone reading this saves their money and avoids this franchise at ALL COSTS. To put it frankly, this is the worst gym I have ever been to. Despite UK consumer law, they act as if they can violate the terms of the contract to force you to keep paying. Even when cancellation requests are allowed for specific reasons, when you actually meet those reasons your request is declined. I moved away and hadn’t used the gym for six months, yet not only did they refuse to cancel, they took over a month to respond initially. You have to go through the official channels to cancel, which I did via their website — I followed the rules exactly, emailed and called multiple times, yet still nothing was resolved. Their employees are trained to ignore everything, repeatedly quote terms and conditions, and act as if nothing else matters — even when they themselves are breaking the rules. On top of that, they continue to send threats of late fees and arrears for months I haven’t used the gym, making the experience unnecessarily stressful and aggressive. Honestly, I would warn anyone against signing up — the customer service is non-existent and the contract enforcement is completely one-sided. And if all of this wasn’t bad enough, depending on the gym (as some are okay), my one was small and had old, outdated equipment.

Check your credit reports everyone

I had 4 months to go to at the Porthope ontario location which I tried canceling multiple times cause Shannon the so called manager screwed up on the dates I wanted my fees to come out I received multiple nsf charges . Put a stop payment and everything ,I had a message from the owner kevin and he said in his message ,he couldn't guarantee my credit rating would not be effected . I reported that to my bank and the manager at my bank told them to go f..themselves . I talked to the owner Kevin once and that was January 7th 2025 ..in the last 3 months I have on my credit report a 5137.00 another one for 294.00 and today one for 400.00. 2 of those were may 31 2023. I hadn't even joined there at that time. The other one was may 24 2024 . Little did they know my bank was well aware of everything and I had called transunion regarding the 294.00 one and within a short time the 5137.00 and 400.00 apparently opened in 2023 were listed . They weren't there when I called the first time. So not only does transunion know they weren't there so does scotia bank. I decided to wait it out cause investigations especially government ones take time. The messed up 2 collection agencies on the same day and same year . Busted big time. The one collections for 2 of them is Finna debt rec. Sounds like find a debt rec. The newest one is Gatestone &Co . Dated May 31 2023 .so Finna debt rec for 5137.00 was also dated May 31 2023 . The debt collectors buy the debts from the company so anytime gets their fraudulent money by them to destroy my credit but it backfired big time. This location maybe the only anytime fitness that damages this way but Porthope Ontario diffenetly did it. If they are not in prison today they will be ANYTIME!!

One of the best places I have ever…

One of the best places I have ever trained in the UK!
I belong to ATF Ringwood and it's amazing, the staff are approachable, polite and helpful at all times. It's cleaned on the regular basis by the staff and they don't mind. Yes they do not have all the equipment yet but it's a very good place to be, not only to train but just relax and chill.

Fairly Great

The one I go to most of the time in High St in Jackson seems okay in terms of equipment and cleanliness but sometimes the staff are snobby.

They took extra money out & refuse to be honest

Here's my experience with Anytime Fitness In Calgary. Brentwood location

I was charged extra from Anytime Fitness in Brentwood Calgary.
Biweekly fees are $26.24 TWICE a month
The enhancement fee is $40.95 once a year
I was charged $67.19 instead of $40.95
When speaking to the Brentwood location the manager denies he took out more. He not only refused to refund the money he stole, he refuses to cancel my membership and tries to gaslight me saying he only took out $40.95
I took bank statement screen shots and showed him and he still denies it even with proof.

I contact my bank and now they are investigating, contacted BBB, consumer reports and of course every place I can share my experience I am.

Allowing clients with influenza A virus to enter gym

Shame on people who came 2 this gym at terry road, box hill, sydney last week with influenza A and para influenza virus and putting lives of seniors at risk...this serious viral infection spreaded from senior to 9month baby n her mum...whole life was made upside down and stilldown...v always use wipes at start of using any machine or weights...still caught virus, could be in air or via A/C...Do not put seniors lives at risk, stay at home if unwell....gym should have temperature sensor at entry that beeps if someone has fever...gym should get A/C filters cleaned and ensure proper cleaning is done before gym opens.Actions by gym reqd not justification as gym is the biggest carrier of germs, virus and bacteria.rather than sitting on bums, gym staff should question those looking unwell or watch the camera live feed n keep some windows open, even with A/C on.

This Gym Does Not Respect its Members!

When a gym member I didn't know called me a "F-ing Faggot" for no reason, I reported him to AF. It took them weeks to take any action and to at least warn him or ban him. Finally they did ban him. AF told me they had him on video. I asked them to SAVE the video in case the guy retaliates against me. AF turned around and claimed they had NO video and that they have NO cams. WTH!! That lie was invented by David Gieselman, the gym owner, for God knows what reason. I now have a complaint in to Self Esteem Brands, which owns AF and which franchises out the gym to Geiselman. Where is the honesty in business?!

They charged me 3 months after I cancelled...no refund

They overcharged me 3 months after I was able to prove cancellation in a timely manner and they acknowledged this and claimed that they would mail me a refund check. I was told by people that I would never see that check because they had a reputation for this. They were right. Anytime Fitness never refunded me. It's theft and highly dishonest and bad business. Never again.

Impossible to cancel a membership - do not join

I decided to cancel my membership so I went to the gym one day and the rep was not there. No problem, I'll get them on the phone. Called them in the afternoon and no answer. No problem, I'll email them. Sent an email and no answer. I went to the gym almost very day for 2 weeks and could not find someone that worked there. Finally almost 2 months later, someone got back to me via email.

The kicker was, I could not be compensated for the months I was charged while try to cancel. I was CHARGED EXTRA to cancel despite being told that fee was going to be waived when I first signed up. This is a complete racket of a business. DO NOT SIGN UP. Reported this activity to the FTC.

A gym should be treated like community

A gym should be treated like community, not like business! they charge fees for failed payment and give an excuse of payment getaway... Why should you aren’t adjust it accordingly because gym isn’t a mandatory place for anyone, people go to make themself feel better, stronger and connected. They charged 60 RM just for 6 days delayed on fees! Could you amazing something like that from a gym? pathetic. It’s better you go to a local gym because they will treat you like community.

I’m writing this reviewDeceptive “Free 18 Sessions” Promotion — Fraudulent Membership Enrollment to warn others…

I’m writing this review to warn others about my experience with Anytime Fitness – Grand Parkway, TX, owned by Benjamin.

I found an ad on Craigslist that offered 18 free personal training sessions — it specifically stated “no catch.” The ad and follow-up text messages (which I’ve saved) clearly said the sessions were free and that this was not a paid membership. Based on that, I scheduled a time to come in.

When I arrived, Benjamin was friendly and welcoming. He asked for my ID, saying it was just for verification. I never signed any paperwork or provided any payment information. The entire visit was presented as an introduction and orientation for the free sessions.

However, right after leaving the gym, I received an email notification saying, “Thank you for signing up for your membership.” I was completely shocked — I had not signed, agreed to, or paid for any membership.

The following day, I received devastating medical news at my doctor’s appointment: I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. As a widow and mother of three, this was an extremely difficult time. I immediately called Benjamin to let him know I would not be able to do the sessions because of my diagnosis. His response was dismissive — he told me, “Oh well, you’re already signed up for the membership.”

I reminded him that I never signed a contract, made a payment, or agreed to any terms — and that his ad and messages stated “free sessions, no catch.” He told me to contact corporate, so I did. Corporate informed me that this particular Anytime Fitness location is privately owned and that the owner himself (Benjamin) would have to fix the issue.

Instead of correcting it, Benjamin sent a contract I never signed or authorized to collections for $708. I have since been contacted by multiple credit agencies trying to collect on this fraudulent “debt.”

I have text message proof and documentation that show I was misled and that this offer was represented as 100% free. I was never given a membership agreement to sign, nor did I give permission for my ID information to be used for a contract.

This entire experience has been deceitful, unethical, and extremely stressful — especially while dealing with a serious medical condition. What was presented as a simple “free trial” turned into a credit nightmare.

Please be careful before providing your ID or personal information to this location. I hope Anytime Fitness corporate takes action against this type of misleading behavior and protects future customers from the same situation.

Extra charges to cancel!

Piled on extra charges when I cancelled, in violation of contract. Contract said 30 days' notice required to cancel, but when I tried to cancel during an account freeze, they insisted on activating the cancel after the end of the freeze in order to extract an extra month's fees. If there is a fee to cancel, say that, don't fraudulently name it a "notice period".
