A no service utility company.
This company shut down all local offices and moved customer noservice overseas. They failed to maintain my Rental tank or do repairs on their equipment. Wanted me to pay for a new rental tank. Found a good local propane company that that brought me a new tanks at half the price and half the rental cost, affordable propane and a local office. Don't do business with Amerigas.
What a horrible company:
What a horrible company:
Hello, I cannot be more aggravated at this point with your company. Here was message I just emailed them.
Hello, I had called in a few weeks ago and was given a special price of $2.78 a gallon. The agent told me to give it 24 hours to take effect and then it would be in the system and I could go ahead and order. So I waited a day or 2 and called in. The new agent I spoke to said there was nothing in the system. I said how can that be. Dont you record the calls. Anyway the new agent told me the price is 4.19 a gallon which I told them it was excessive and I did not want that, The national average for propane in the southeast is in the high 2 dollar area. Anyway after talking with the new agent she agreed to lower the price to $3.38 a gallon and she could offer me a $50.00 coupon. This is the price I agreed to and will not pay a penny more. They are trying to charge me $4.19 a gallon
The WORST company
The WORST company with the WORST ethics. My tank was picked up with 48gal propane remaining, which I was told would be refunded to me. After 3 MONTHS of waiting and calling every so often to check the status of this refund, today I am told that all of the other agents I have spoken with have told me misinformation and that there was zero propane remaining in my tank. THIS IS A LIE - when its time to actually make the refund, they LIE to get out of getting customers the money they are OWED. Customers BEWARE! This company is SHADY and i will never use them again!!!
worst company I ever dealt with
I don't have enuf space to write how much of a RIPOFF AmeriGas is. My goal is to have one person not buy from Amerigas and have them pass on the disgusting way they treat their customers. I wish I could rate them below a 1 star rating. It'd be a -10 stars. Nothing to say good about this company
Amerigas Takes Advantage of Senior Citizens
My father purchased a propane tank for our vacation home from National Propane Corporation in 1995. Amerigas took over and years later attempted to charge a rental fee for the propane tank we own. My father provided the bill of sale to Amerigas and they said the problem was resolved.
A year or two ago Amerigas again attempted to charge a rental fee on our propane tank. After multiple attempts to resolve the dispute, my father purchased propane from another company. Amerigas refused to honor their previous commitment to us and sent the disputed rental fees to collection. My father is now 89 years-old and had a stroke.
Last month Amerigas put a lock on our propane tank and disrupted the gas flow to our home. I was forced to drive up there and winterize the house, which probably has damage to the water pipes from freezing up. I called Amerigas multiple times. Each time that I requested to be transferred to a supervisor the call was disconnected. I also emailed Amerigas and the representative said that if I provided the bill of sale, which was attached to the email, they would resolve the dispute. Today I spoke with Amerigas. The representative apologized and acknowledged that we own the propane tank. The representative said a serviceman would remove the locking device this Monday.
A couple hours thereafter I received a telephone call from another representative from Amerigas demanding $179 to remove the locking device they unlawfully placed on our propane tank. When I refused to pay Amerigas transferred me to a supervisor who now refuses to accept the bill of sale we provided. This company is appalling. Please spare yourself the aggravation and go to another company. I'll be seeing them in court.
Beware: AmeriGas.com - A Nightmare in Customer Service
I wish I could give AmeriGas.com zero stars for their abysmal service. Where do I even begin? Let's start with their predatory business practices. It's like they have a playbook on how to squeeze every last penny out of their customers. From undisclosed fees to sudden price hikes, dealing with AmeriGas.com is like navigating a minefield of financial traps.
But the nightmare doesn't end there. Oh no, let's talk about their customer service – or lack thereof. You'd think that in this day and age, a company as big as AmeriGas.com would have their act together when it comes to customer support. Think again. Trying to get a hold of someone who speaks fluent English and actually understands your issue is like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
And don't even get me started on their overseas customer service. It's as if they've outsourced their entire support team to another dimension where customer satisfaction doesn't exist. When you finally do manage to reach someone, good luck getting a resolution that's anything other than a false promise. They'll tell you they've solved the problem, but lo and behold, it's still there, lurking in the shadows, ready to strike again.
And let's not forget about their penchant for hidden fees. Just when you think you've paid everything off, surprise! Here comes another charge, conveniently tucked away in the fine print of your contract. It's like playing a never-ending game of financial whack-a-mole.
In conclusion, steer clear of AmeriGas.com unless you enjoy being taken for a ride. Their predatory business practices, terrible overseas customer service, false resolution claims, undisclosed fees, and the impossibility of speaking to a competent human being are enough to drive anyone to the brink of insanity. Save yourself the headache and find a propane provider that actually values its customers.
Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service. Waited 3 weeks for regional inspection that was never documented in the system. The call center could not set up service until they had the quote. Terrible Terrible Terrible
FRAUD... Incompetence
Hugh Gallagher is the CEO at this writing and he's running a ruddeess barge into a bridge. I've only used these guys once and it was hell to get any service. All CSRs are in Asia (Pakistan or India) and they struggle with English and the basic company policies. Much worse is the arbitrary billing! I'll likely be talking to an attorney to line up a class action suit as I have no doubt there must be others in this FRAUD.
AmeriGas vending unit ate my tank
I tried to exchange my tank at an AmeriGas vending unit at our local Walmart Neighborhood Market.
I swiped my credit card and the unit asked me to place my tank inside the opened slot. I did, and closed the door. There was a bunch of whirring noises from inside for a couple of minutes, a door then opened in the adjacent locker unit, and I was prompted to insert my empty tank again! Wait, did the unit just eat my tank? Great.
I went inside Walmart to speak with their customer service and, as I should have assumed, not their problem; "Contact the 888 number on the unit. Nothing we can do..."
I needed a tank for today, so I had to run elsewhere, buy a new tank for $54, have it filled for $17.50. I'm also out the initial cost of the first tank I bought into with AmeriGas, which was $54. Looks like I'm out $125.50 total to have a full propane tank in hand.
On my FIFTH attempt to contact them via the 888 number, I finally spoke with someone after a 28+ minute wait, who said to go back to the store "at a better time" and call from there to get the tank back. All told, I spent almost an hour trying to get through to someone. The first few times I tried calling dropped almost immediately. The next couple of times were very long waiting periods.
So now I have to go back to the store later in the evening, call the 888 number from there, and hope the call volume is low enough so I'm not standing around in front of a Walmart, waiting to hopefully get my tank back.
I realize now I bet on the wrong horse by using their "convenient" exchange service. It just isn't worth using if one can expect this level of hassle in the event their unit fails to function properly.
HORRIBLE AMERIGAS SERVICE. THEIR WEBSITE DOESNT ALLOW THE CONCERN TO BE TRANSMITTED
I have been trying to send AMERIGAS a written complaint as I have been without propane for 2 weeks now. It controls our hot water heater and one of my family members has a skin condition and has not been able to shower daily. This is ridiculous there contact online once you click the CAPTCHA does not work and this complaint could not even be sent to Amerigas! I wrote “I am very unhappy with my service with Amerigas. I called in December/January to receive gas delivery and was not told any explanation as to why I have had no delivery. I spoke to a Spanish gentleman, who I believed understood me in March to again to request a delivery. He said that a problem had been identified with tank. I explained to him that in about 2021 the tank was unstable and crooked and falling over and no one came to fix the pad for months, they were the ones who originally installed it. I made several calls then and eventually fixe the pad with cement. A supervisor came out to inspect it in 2021-2022 and gave it a green light. He said there was sufficient airflow under it etc. and it was stable. I have told recent operators that the tank is fine, it is level, you have clear acess to it. I have been out of gas for hot water for over 2 weeks now. I have appointment for someone to look at tank Wednesdy. If you cannot get this resolved and propane delivered by Friday I am no longer your customer.” Amerigas ACCOUNT #: 0200126271, Palm Bay Florida.
I’ve been a customer for over 20 years
I’ve been a customer for over 20 years. This company has gone to hell. Customer service is not local anymore. If you call the local number you get forwarded to a non English speaking customer service representative. My last fill I was charged almost double the going rate much of which leaked out of their regulator now I’m going through a very frustrating experience of getting reimbursed. That was the last tank I will be buying from amerigas. I’m changing to a company that doesn’t rip off their customers and has local support. I wouldn’t recommend amerigas to my worst enemy.
Amerigas sent me a strange $500 bill with no explanation
Amerigas sent me a $500 bill recently with no explanation for any actual service rendered. I have not used this company recently. I have not needed or asked for a refill on my old propane tank for years. The only refill top off I ever got from Amerigas was in 2020 for $85 and I have that paid receipt. Since then I have used a different company twice. The tank is small so it never costs co more than around $200 to completely fill. My last refill was in 2022. Since then the studio where the tank sits has not been used. I have called three times to try to find out what this is all about but they do not respond. I have now also written them three times without any response other than getting more late fees for this peculiar bill. And now they are charging me interest and have sent the bill to a collection agency. This has to be the worst company ever.
P.S. After this complaint, and also contacting the Better Business Bureau, I was contacted rather quickly by Amerigas and the bill was corrected, and they agreed that I owed nothing. I suggest that if you have a clear problem and know you are correct, that you follow through with the BBB because it does work!
I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET GAS DELIVERED…
I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET GAS DELIVERED SINCE MARCH 4TH...EVERY DAY I GET A CALL TELLING ME OF MY PENDING DELIVERY AND EVERYDAY THEY DO NOT DELIVER. MY DRIVEWAY WAS CLEAR OS ALL SNOW AND DRY UNTIL MARCH 14TH. THEY HAD PLENTY OF TIME TO DELIVER. IT SNOWED MY DRIVEWAY IS PLOWED BUT THE DRIVER IS GOING TO NEED CHAINS ON THE TRUCK TO GET IN AND OUT BUT THAT I ASSUME IS TOO MUCH TROUBLE FOR THEM.....SO I'LL FIND ANOTHER COMPANY TO DEAL WITH!!! ONE WHO WORKS OUT OF THE USA,ONE WHERE I CAN COMMUNICATE WITH SOMEONE LOCAL WHO I CAN TELL WHAT THE WEATHER IS LIKE AND WHEN THEY SHOULD BE HERE! IT HAS BEEN A MISERABLE EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!
Amerigas
Amerigas
I called because I smelled gas outside of our home. We were told to go outside and wait. We had an infant with us. We waited outside for over 2 hours. I called back in and got a foreign speaking person. It took her 20 minutes to get my phone number right. I called back in again and got another foreign speaking person. Again having to go through my phone number address, asking me if I had an account with them, asking me if I had and emergency (I was calling the emergency number). While trying to get them to understand any English, the tech with Amerigas finally showed up.
I have since called back in to talk to a supervisor about how this was handled. I got one foreign speaking person after another refusing to connect me to a supervisor. Their reason was that I didn’t have a valid complaint. Fortunately everything as far as the gas was concerned, was ok. But all of the wasted time could’ve ended up in a real disaster.
No one there can make their own decision
I’m a property manager in Hawaii. When Amerigas came to my island I had them provide service to a resort I managed and a private estate. Long time customer. I was moving the private estate to autopay 6 days before the bill was due and they fined me 30.00 for a bounced check I didn’t write. The Amerigas office has a sign in the window saying NO ENTRY use the internet. I’m waiting to see about reimbursement for the gas in the tank.
The date I entered is approximate.
It’s now 3-24-24 I called to see why I had not heard from them on 3-18-24 and was told there was no record of the tank being picked up. An email was to be sent to the local office to get the tank in the system. I let the nice delivery guy know and he said he would fix it. I’ll be back if they don’t give me help.
HORRIBLE
HORRIBLE! The company has moved it's service overseas to the Philippines. You cannot speak to anyone in your local area. They set an appointment and didn't show up. I have called 3 times now... to the point of asking for a manager (they do not transfer you to anyone). The Philippine call center person said THEY are the manager. right. Every time I call, they promise I'll get a return phone call within 48-72 hours. Silence, NOTHING. I recommend choosing a company with employees in your local area with whom you can speak directly. What a shameful way to do business. Case # CAS8758048
Do not
Do not. I just started service with them and already moving to another company. Long story short 4days without heat now as they locked my tank as customer service lied and said they would call me before coming. Now it's impossible to get them to come back out!! Even on a scheduled day! Completely unacceptable
WORST COMPANY IN AMERICA
WORST COMPANY IN AMERICA! Each victim of Amerigas should contact their state and federal representatives immediately demanding oversight by the PSC (which regulates other utilities) to put a stop to the abuse that UGI subjects unsuspecting customers of Amerigas to. UGI acquired Amerigas in 2019 and has raped and abused the customers of Amerigas ever since. They are responsible for providing the gas that hundreds of thousands of customers rely on to stay warm, heat water and cook with, and as such, should be regulated immediately. Before the purchase of Amerigas by UGI, Amerigas was a reputable company that self-governed and at least made an attempt to operate in a manner consistent with other regulated utility companies. UGI makes NO SUCH EFFORT and should immediately come under close scrutiny by an oversight agency. If you are looking for a propane provider, RUN - do not walk - from this company. Do your research there is no sight that offers greater than a 1 STAR review of this company. If you were an Amerigas customer before 2019, I would empty your tank and change companies during the summer months before you also find yourself freezing through the winter or being robbed by the unscrupulous business practices of this pathetic, unaccountable international company.
erroneous billing
On December 21, 2023 I cancelled my propane service with
Amerigas because we sold the unit. They have since been
billing me for removing the tank, even though: 1) I did not
request that they remove the tank (the new owners need it)
and 2) they in fact did NOT remove the tank.
We couldn’t get gas during cold periods…
We had been customers of AmeriGas for many years with no problems. Then last year couldn’t get gas during cold periods. This year we cancelled the service at the end of the contract they charged us over $300.00 to cancel. We contacted customer service several times, and they sent people out for the wrong reason and charged us for their error. Avoid this company.
