Allett lawn flute

Bought the Allett lawn flute - handle is so poor it does not have the strength to pull back without separating from the flute - very flimsy and not fit for purpose
What’s more the company insist on you paying for return postage’s even though the tool is useless - legal action on going

Excellent Allett Cambridge 43 & RC cartridges

I recently bought an Allett Cambridge 43 battery mower with additional cartridges. Having been a fan of Daniel Hibbert Lawn Expert for a number of years and owning the cable powered Allett Sandringham 14E I really wanted the Allett Stirling 43.
Unfortunately, my budget and garden sizes could not justify the cost so I started watching YouTube videos about the Cambridge 43 and after a good few months of saving I was in a position to buy one and purchased mine through London Power Tools who was my local Allett dealer.
The Cambridge 43 is fantastic!!!
Looks lovely, is heavy enough to make great stripes that last but light enough to be manoeuvrable. The verticutter and scarifying cartridges are also excellent and the new Rapid Change (RC) system means I only need to undo 2 Allen bolts and no longer have to remove the side guard and belts etc.
Mower highlights include; the split diff rear roller which makes a massive difference as it doesn't flatten the grass when turning like my previous single rear roller used to do especially in slightly damp conditions (spring/autumn). The front roller and grass comb work brilliantly and the new design mesh grass box is amazing not only in being lightweight but also in ease of removing to empty the grass cuttings and also looks professional too. Gone are the days where my old mower used to get covered in grass cuttings, the new design mesh grass box seems to have stopped all of that. Thankfully!
Allett have also raised the handlebars which for me at 6 foot tall is a great advantage. The operation system is easy to start and stop and finally the cutting height can be incrementally adjusted from 0-32mm. Last week I cut at 17mm and this weekend I moved up-to 22mm.
The greenworks battery also works well and after cutting both lawns I am still left with 2 bars of charge.
The Allett Cambridge 43 is also very quiet to use even across all 3 cartridges and I can now cut the grass earlier at the weekends.
I really love this mower and really glad I did finally purchase it!!
I initially had a couple of technical questions and Aaron at Allett was excellent and quick to advise.

Allett are not a cheap lawn mower to buy but the build quality, lawn results and ease of use for changing the cartridges and cutting heights do stand for themselves and show why they are head and shoulders above other mowers I have owned and used.

I would highly recommend the Allett Cambridge 43 and the RC cartridges.

Useless Speed settings on Liberty 43

Purchased a battery powered Liberty 43. First mower delivered had twisted chassis and was replaced by Allett (after a little to and fro emails).
Hardly used replacement until recent improvement in weather.
The Liberty 43 is absolutely useless at anything other than the maximum speed setting of six, below 5.5 it doesn't do anything at all worthy of grass cutting! The variable speed setting on my mower is pointless. The mower also refuses to cut/roll/move on anything other than bowling green smooth surface. In short a bit of a waste of money, I wouldn't recommend.

Fantastic customer service, brilliant products, superb after care.

Always have used rotary mowers. just before the pandemic I had emailed Allett and promptly got a reply from Mr. Austin Jarret regarding basic set up for the cylinder mower novice. He was very honest and didnt try to push the product.

When I finally went for the mower I bought an Allett C20 in 2020 during the pandemic. I used this during the pandemic until I saw the Allett Stirling. I was trying to sell the C20 to buy the Stirling as it is a much easier machine to use that the C20.
Then came Laura from the Allett office who helped advertise it on their website as a customer machine. I managed to sell it a lot easier on the Allett website.

Then I bought the Stirling. I was the 1st person in the UK to have that flex problem. As I wasnt far from the Allett factory, I took the machine to Allett and Mr Austin Jarret met me and tested the machine and sorted the mower and dropped it off at my home one the fix was added at no extra cost.

Unfortunately I had sold my house and the Allett was in storage for about 2 years. When I started using the Stirling I had trouble with my Verticutter cartridge. It was well out of warranty. I contacted the Allett customer service and was immediately put in touch with the Allett Engineer Ian, who essentially told me to bring the cartridge over to the factory as I had moved closer to Regal House. I fixed an appointment iand he sorted out the cartridge and serviced it and sent me on my way within an hour and a half.

As the cartridge had sat in my garage for 2 years, the bearing on my cutting reel failed. Again on the phone to Ian the Master Engineer, who sorted my bearing issue quickly and sent me on my way. He also showed me how to back Lapp and set my cutting reel one to one.

Whenever I have had doubts or advise re lawn care or using the Stirling, I have always had advise from Mr. Austin Jarret and Laura on the allett Instagram page easily, despite being out of warranty. Stever the service manager also has been helpful in sorting the silly questions I have bothered them with.

The unfortunate poor reviews for Allett seems to be from over the pond in the US. I do feel for the American customers. Fortunately allett now have a new distributor and hopefull the American customers are happier now!! All in all Allett has been brilliant and Im glad I went with a British brand who have an amazing heritage in lawn care and is a fantastic company. I can say this as I have had personal experience and have never been disappointed or have had second thoughts. Good luck Allett abd keep up the good work.

I have had two Allett Kensington 20'…

I have had two Allett Kensington 20' mowers and they are not worth the money. Actually, let me say this, they could be great mowers and but the parts and assembly are ridiculous. The parts don't last long, you can't get service and they only have one dealer in the US. I have had so many issues with my mowers I can't get into it. I have a nice bermuda lawn that I am OCD about. I'm that guy leveling with sand in tiny swells in the yard. I just replaced my mower this year and within four months the bolt holding the bracket that support the belt back off and burt the cheap plastic rod that guides the belt. So the mower is currently down and since Allett-UK changed vendors in the US you can't even get in contact with them to get parts. I had so many problems with my first mower that I purchased a McLane 25' mower at have the price and it does great. Far out performs the Allett on cutting. What I like about the Allett was the cartridges that are way over priced but I was invested in the unit and purchased a 10 blade reel, verticut, scarifier and the brush. However, if the mowers don't work, that was money down the drain. If I had to do it all over again, I would have just purchased the McLane. Right now I have $4,000+ of junk in my garage. Last thing, I would never purchase the new battery powered mowers that are way over priced and there is no way they are going to meet your needs. Last thiing, I have been in touch with Allett UK over the years and they will respond to your questions and provide you advice. After that, you are on your own. I think they only way this would work is if you have a dealer in your area that you could take the mower too. The dealer I bought from was 2 hours away and they only sold them for a short period before they got out of Allett. These guys had little to no training. When they delivered my mower, it wouldn't even start. They had to take it back and repair it and it all went downhill from there.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, and we’re truly sorry to hear about the issues you’ve encountered with your Liberty 43. We completely understand how frustrating it can be to have key parts fail after just a year, especially after your previous investment in replacements.

The Liberty 43 is designed to provide optimal performance for lawns up to 450 m², and when serviced and maintained with the right care schedule, it should deliver reliable results. However, the rare event of repetitive part failures may indicate a different underlying issue or additional factors such as terrain, usage frequency, or load.

We’d love to work with you to get to the root of the problem.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out—we are committed to making things right and improving your experience.

I NEVER KNEW I HAD SUCH A FANTASTIC MOWER UNTIL ...

The long-awaited 17-inch GROOVED FRONT ROLLER from Allett has finally reached the home market. It is beautifully engineered in solid stainless steel and it is very easy to fit.
The difference in cut is absolutely amazing and, should you wish for such a finish, it will give your lawn the immaculate look of Wimbledon’s Centre Court!

These mowers are useless

These mowers are useless, I have had mine for about 3 years now and I have had to replace basically everything.
It has no power to cut even well maintained grass and the parts are all so lightweight that they give up less than a year after replacing.
Don't waste your time and money with this rubbish.

The Liberty range was designed to provide reliable performance, especially for well-maintained lawns up to 450 m², so repeated part replacements and power issues suggest there may be an underlying problem. We would really appreciate the chance to investigate this further and see how we can help.

I have an Allett Liberty 35 battery…

I have an Allett Liberty 35 battery powered mower. Unfortunately, the clear pastic top of the Greenworks battery holder has broken so I searched for a replacement. Greenworks evidently only supply the whole unit so the dealers could not help with spare parts. I then contacted Allett and a very helpful chap by the name of Arron got on the case. He called me to say that he had searched around the factory but at had no luck. The next day, however, he called back to inform me that he had located one. Not many companies would be bothered to help with such a small request and I am very grateful to Arron at Allett.

Customer service?

I purchased an Allett kensington mower with the addtional different cassetts, mower works fine.
However Allets customer service is shocking!
I phoned them up to buy a basic service kit and was informed as my mower has a Kawasaki engine I need to contact another company they recommended. When i spoke to the recommended company they said we need the serial plate number from the engine block, I then informed them the serial plate is not visible, to my amazement I was then told to start stripping the cowlings from the machine to find the serial plate! I then phoned up Allet again as I thought this info must be wrong? Only to be told bluntly they dont deal with engines take the mower to a specialist to have it serviced. I informed them that i can change the oil, plug and filter if you actually sold basic parts for mowers you sold!
They didnt want to know lol.... All i know is if this machine was made in Germany this would not be the situation.

We completely understand your frustration. While it is true that Kawasaki engines are serviced by their specialists, we acknowledge that the process you went through sounds unnecessarily complicated.

DON'T BUY AN ALLETT LIBERTY 43 mower!

Based on my experience, my recommendation is: DON'T BUY AN ALLETT LIBERTY 43 mower!

In June 2019, I purchased an Allett Liberty 43 battery powered cylinder lawn mower from a local dealer.

From the very beginning, its variable speed control did not work properly and the mower consistently failed to fill its grass box resulting in the need for frequent emptying of the box.

My dealer replaced the speed control parts several times under guarantee without success and eventually the mower was returned to Allett in 2022 for inspection. Although out of its original guarantee period, Allett agreed to replace the mower with their show demonstrator, which they guaranteed for a further 18 months.

However, this replacement mower has exactly the same faults as the original: the speed control does not work properly and the mower does not pick up the cut grass properly.

In April 2023, I requested that Allett accept return of the machine on the grounds and that the mower is not fit for purpose and refund what I paid for it. Allett have refused. Their owner and managing director, Mr Austin Jarrett, said in an email to me:

“We design and manufacture a whole range of machines at various price points with corresponding features and performance. We have machines which do all the things you want, but they are considerably more expensive at a higher specification.
We try to be as helpful at your time of purchase as we can be to help our customers buy the right machine for their budget. It is difficult to respond to a customer who shows remorse at not spending more to experience the comfort, adjustability, speed and performance of a higher specification model.
I’m sorry that I cannot offer more comfort than this.”

I am astonished at this response. I find it astounding and ludicrous; my mower, an Allett Liberty 43, currently costs £1,899 (no this is not a misprint!) to buy. It was £1,299 when I bought mine!

My Liberty 43 fails to conform to it’s published specification, which states: “The machines in the range are simple to start and easy to use with 6-speed options allowing you to select the right speed for you”. Also, I contend that it is an implied specification for any mower, whatever its price, is that it will succeed in filling its own grass collection box!

Based on my experience, my recommendation is: DON'T BUY AN ALLETT LIBERTY 43 mower!

We are sorry to hear that you continue to feel let down by your experience with the Liberty 43. We completely understand how frustrating it must be to invest in a premium product and not have it meet your expectations despite our efforts to resolve the issue.

We have always aimed to support you throughout this process, including replacing your original mower and providing an extended warranty. However, we fully appreciate that the replacement machine has not resolved your concerns, which has understandably added to your disappointment.

To clarify, our machines are designed to perform to specific standards across a range of specifications, and we make every effort to guide our customers towards the right machine for their individual needs and lawn conditions. We recognize that when those expectations are not met, it can feel incredibly frustrating.

We sincerely appreciate your feedback and will continue using it to improve both our products and our customer service. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.

Really poor service and massive delays.

I placed an order for the new battery operated Stirling Mower plus a couple of cassettes, an order totalling £4k.
I knew the mower would be delayed, however I have found out today that its likely to be August at the earliest.
I am really disappointed and feel totally let down by Allett, in reality, I am not going to be able to use this until next year/season.

I would not recommend them as no one has kept me updated of this either, I had to email them and ask when my order was coming. Total disaster.

I bought battery powered Allett Liberty…

I bought battery powered Allett Liberty 35 mower. It lasted only 2 seasons so perhaps 30 to 40 mowings. Firstly the belt was often thrown off the pulley. When replacing it I noticed a lot of metal material around drive pulleys tensioner which had failed. The belt was brittle and stiff and it looked like it was of Chinese manufacture. The accelerator lever then failed. The repair bill for a machine that cost over £800 2 years ago is £220 and Allett are not interested and never have been apart from making soothing responses and advising where I can get it repaired! So it was back to the trusted Suffolk Punch for me. So be warned as ecologically responsible you want to be this Allett is not for you if you want a quality mower and for sure this will be going in the skip. The customer service from senior customer service people in this company was abysmal.
