Okay

I rented a car for 2,5 weeks at the Vienna Airport.

They do not have an office in Vienna, so it's more like an (old-style) Airbnb check in, you'll have to arrange a time via Whatsapp in advance (both pick up and drop off). That was very easy though. Representatives (pick up and drop off) were both on time.

There was one problem with the car though: The window at the driver's side did not roll up and down properly (got stuck), as I found out one day after pick-up. This issue was not new to Add car (they sent me a video of how to fix it via whatsapp after I reached out to them about this issue).

Paying almost 500 EUR for this car, I expect a fully functioning car. It was very inconvenient not being able to roll down the window (parking tickets, highway tickets, air ventilation, ....) therefore I won't be renting a car with this company again.

I rented in Vienna airport

I rented in Vienna, good car, rep was on time. I protested about excess insurance and demanded a reverse. They never did in spite of calls and emails. When you call they shift their responsibility to other entities.On return nobody came for an hour but check was fair. Three weeks later the Euro 800 deposit still not received neither the Euro 315 insurance. Will dispute the transaction now. Very annoying but it was cheap for two months. Not again if I can help it.

I had the unfortunate experience of…

I had the unfortunate experience of hiring a car with AddCar in Croatia. I arrived to Split airport, they came late to pick me up, a few minutes later they tried to persuaded me to buy their insurance/excess (pushy attitude). They send me some old photos of the car (taken during the day although I took the car at night) and when I returned the car, they invented new marks already marked in the initial report. They charged me more than £400 pounds for only two insignificant marks that were already there. I told them I refused this as they marked it in the initial document, but they charged it to my credit car. I do not recommend you hiring this company as their employees told me the company they are car dealers. They are thieves and will try to over charge you if you don't buy their insurance.

I ordered the car in Athens

I ordered the car in Athens, Greece. It started with no one waiting at the airport. After waiting for about an hour at the airport and after countless attempts to call. answered one of the employees who barely understands or speaks English. The drive to the pitch was long from the airport. The vehicle I ordered was not there and they tried to push me an outdated model vehicle that didn't even have a USB connection. It was also too small. There was a guy at the reception who behaved impolitely and disrespectfully. They tried to add us an amount of 198 euros. After arguing and insisting, I got a car that more or less suited me. Ordering from cheap companies is only the price and the rest is paid dearly. It is better to add a little more and take from the big companies. My experience was bad. I will never do business with them. To this day, two weeks after I returned home, a deposit fee of 800 euros is still stuck and not 200 euros as advertised. Don't get close, you will pay dearly.

We paid €750 for a wreck!

We paid €750 for a week's car rental in Greece (Lefkada) and received a totally destroyed car. While the car itself is not worth €500. Broken tail lamp, 50+ dents and rust spots, tank lid could not open, tank not full, inside all kinds of buttons broken, power car far too light for the mountains, car 12 years old. There are beautiful photos on the website, but in reality you get a vintage car. After reporting the complaints several times, no response was received. Let alone a solution or compensation. We even wanted to rent a car for another week a few weeks later. Again no response from Addcar. Everyone can and may draw his or her own conclusion, but never again for us Addcar.

Very pleasantly surprised with AddCar

I'll be honest, before our holiday, the reviews completely put me off AddCar however I forgot to take my driving license on holiday and the company that I had originally booked would not accept a scanned copy so I had to find another car hire company at the airport.

The original company (at Malta airport) suggested AddCar and special thanks to CHRISTINE who, both on the day of our arrival and also on the day we picked up the car, was excellent.

I don't want to overdo it but if AddCar had not accepted my documents, we would not have had a car on holiday and only seen a fraction of the island.

I was still nervous about the vehicle inspection when we returned the car but the guy was friendly, inspected the car and signed off with no additional damage. I hope all of AddCar offices are as honest and cooperative as Malta.

Additional thanks (left in a separate review) for economybookings.com not penalising us for switching car hire firms. I would happily use both firms again.

Horrible service

Horrible service. Showed up an hour later than our scheduled pick up and they cancelled our reservation. They said they were overbooked and we were out of luck. Then proceeded to quote us 5x our original rate for a car on the lot (I thought they were overbooked). Just a terribly run company. Don’t waste your time.

As everyone has already said these guys are scammers and thief’s. The agent dropping off the car arrived late had to call him and get charged using my UK phone. On delivery I filled up the car and cleaned it off.
They charged me for dirty car wash fee and traffic violations. No proof provided when I provided them with proof of cleaning and car etc they responded saying it’s done and and they won’t refund my money falsely charged. I’m going to report this company to tourism board for absolutely theft. And I encourage everyone to do the same.

Worst experience I've ever had with any…

Worst experience I've ever had with any company ever. It's all right here in the reviews, I couldn't say it any better. Do not use Addcar, VIP rental, Magcar, or whatever they are calling their company today. A few of the guys were nice and probably honest, but the company is rotten from the top.

Extra fees and scams at Malta airport

Vehicle was NOT supplied with full tank as agreed in the purchase contract. Was given half-full and then asked to be returned half-full which is a pain in the proverbial and cost me more as I had to overfill before returning so as to avoid any penalty.

40 euros worth of additional airport taxes were charged at pick-up which were not stipulated anywhere in agreement (they rather flippantly said it would be in the small print, and I actually went and checked and it wasn't). In any event, such fees should be prominent. My previous correspondence with the company had confirmed total to pay at the airport, which did NOT include this additional fee so I really think this was an added last minute extra the office staff charge.

Weeks prior to rental I had asked to start my rental 4 hours earlier due to a flight cancellation/change and the head office of addcar had emailed me saying the car would be available early and there would be no extra cost. This seemed brilliant and I was very happy at such customer service. Despite mentioning this the assistant tried to charge me extra for early pick up. Even after showing the email from her head office she tried to charge extra, and only relented when I said that I would just hang around for 4 hours as I couldn't check in to my hotel yet anyway. The car was ready to go all along but only when I said this did she relent and take a picture of the email and release the car as the company had advised was possible. Amazing customer service blown at the final hurdle...

A small thing was that the Car was fine but not the vehicle as advertised despite me emailing them directly to confirm whether it was or not. Not unusual for car rental but they did say it would be that car and not an alternative in writing. The alternative, whilst a bit smaller and less powerful, was suitable.

The addcar desk at Malta airport is not well signposted at all, and was not easy to find. There was a long que of people behind me so whilst I was in and out in under an hour I would imagine longer waiting times to be the norm.

One incredibly small thing but which soured the experience even more, was that the final man who checked in/out the car offered to take our luggage trolley back for us. When we said it was only 30 second walk and we wanted the euro coin back he lied and said that you don't get it back. Having been to Malta before I know he was lying, and probably pockets 30-40 euros a day pulling this scam. It's only a euro which I might even have left as a tip, but lying about it to our faces was poor poor form...

Morocco, Rabat airport - good experience

This was in Morocco, Rabat Sale airport. We were quite scared renting from addcar given alot of the bad reviews about the company. However when we landed at about 9PM from Stansted, we asked for the area of the renting and was instructed by the airport security to walk to the blue tents at the end of the car park. When we arrived we saw the car we rented waiting for us in the parking lot and the woman (Amina) there waiting, she was so lovely, very fast and helpful. We did not have a Visa credit card, however they accepted our british airways american express for the holding deposit, they also offered for us to use our debit card however there was a 100 euro fee for that. Or we could use someone else's credit card whom was going to be in the car with us, but we could have to pay for them as a second driver. We simply chose the first option which was great.
The car itself from the outside was a little dirty but the car was relatively new, good condition and the inside was clean. The whole process took about 15 minutes. and we were off!
When we wanted to return the car, unfortunately we were an hour and a half late so had a small fee to pay as a result of 100 dirhams which is about 8 pounds. If we were only one hour late it would have been fine, but over an hour late theres a fee. They checked the car, enquired about a bump however we assured them it was there before hand and we had video proof, they were very kind and easy going, the whole drop off process took no more than 15 minutes. They thanked us and we were done!.
Deposit should be back with us within 48hours. Hopefully all goes well.

I appreciate that some people had horrible experiences with this company however please always remember that majority of reviews are always when someone had a bad experience and not necessarily when someone had a good one. I was extremely scared renting however the price was too good to be true and it was!. We will be hopefully using addcar again. Thank you!

Just come back from dubrovnik Croatia…

Just come back from dubrovnik Croatia and hired a car from addcar ex lady no problems picking up and dropping off only problem u got to go out of airport and across the road to.pick it up but well worth the walk only about 5min walk nice newish car so very happy with sirvice plus addcar put block.on €950 but returned the car on a Sunday and the block on the card was taken off by Tuesday very quick no problems at all

Pleasant experience with addCar Rental!

We had the most pleasant experience with addCar Rental. We rented a car for 3 days in Marrakech and we drove all the way down to Erg Chigaga desert and came back to Marrakech without any problems. We rented a Dacia Logan and it was almost new (less than 8000 km), very well equipped with everything that you need for a long drive in Morocco.
They were always ready to help us through WhatsApp and to reply to any questions that we might have as well.
Highly recommend addCar if you’re looking for a rental company in Morocco!

Scammers!

Scammers!! Fraud . Avoid this company Rented a car from addCar in Dubrovnik Airport Croatia. The car was returned without any new scratch. They insisted they found new scratches under the car! I had to call the airport police. I refused to sign the damage they were claiming. Save yourself the hassle of dealing with these crooks. The rep knew exactly where underneath the car to find scratch.

Carefull this is a scam !!!!

Carefull this is a scam !!!!! don't rent a car there unless you absolutely have no other choice.

They say they are located inside the airport, when in fact they rent a small isolated building far away (on their office no mention of addcar but there is another company name). They don't give you any instruction as to where to find them ( in fact they come pick you up with a minivan we had to call to find that out).

The paperwork wasn't done, they couldn't print us the paperwork we needed for the car, they couldnt gave us a double for the check up of the car coz their printer was broken. They ask to sign the check up paper before we could check out the car.

The car was dented, scratched a lot, and a bit dirty.

When we gave back the car at the airport, the guy ran out of his car and instantly point out scratches in less then a second saying it wasn't there before. He didn't use the initial paperwork we did for the "before checkup" , when we contested he ran off without making us sign the checkout.
Later on, we received a mail saying the car had lot of damaged and they're gonna take 650 out of our cautions.

This is an organized scam, don't rent a car there unless you don't have any other choice. And if you do, take a lot of pictures of the car, check every paper work !

Wrong car, 2hrs delay, warning lights, dirty car

Booked a Jeep Cherokee( wanted tall 4wd car due to forecast weather) to be picked up at Warsaw Modlin airport, via vip car( booking agent of addcar) instruction provided was to proceed to main entrance addcar representative will be waiting for you with addcar sign next to the parking office.
Firstly there are about 3 main entrances and the only parking office is a small hut in the carpark. So I waited there at the reservation time. And no one with addcar sign. Left wife and daughter there and checked other entrances to find a parking ticket machine near another entrance but no representative, walked around the carpark pick up area looking for representative. So after about 20 mins waiting called the number provided in case of needing assistance, only to have the call hung up before being answered twice! Called vip car in London told to wait where told in instruction so still stood outside in blowing wind and sleet/snow. After about an hour I get a call from some one at magmar car rental telling me I am an hour late. Having explained i had been waiting for an hour where told I was told they are no longer in the area and I have to wait 50 mins for them to get back to me! So two hours after my alloyed pick up time they arrive and explain they sit down the road waiting for us to call them so as not to incur car park charges. But that was not what the instructions provided said. So we are picked up and taken to an offsite car park where we are given a dirty Skoda Octavia how this is similar to the booked jeep I have no clue and get charged about 1/3rd more than the vip cars agreed price. Vip cars website says cars are sterilised but this car was covered in mud inside and out so had not been cleaned. As this was a 24hour trip the 2 hour delay majorly affected our trip plans and did not have the time to argue with the magmar representative but never using vip cars again or add cars or mag rent/magmar. Rep left in another car and we then noticed warning light on dash board so expected the car to break down at any point!
