We used active.com for a charity 5k/10k…

We used active.com for a charity 5k/10k run April 23 2022. I would strongly recommend using a different platform for event registration.
Terrible customer service. AND to continue with the terrible service we still have not received our registration money, today's date is June 3 2022. I have emailed the "support team" 8 times and I receive follow-up emails that they are working on trying to get the accounting department to release the funds. I asked if we could get a refund on the percentage they take out for each registration since it is their fault we have not received payment. I got a "No we can't do that."

This is a scam

This is a scam. They force you to sign up when you register for an event and then start hitting your credit card for $89 for renewals. Avoid any event (e.g. LA Marathon) that partners with these scoundrels.

Run in the opposite direction! Not worth the headache.

This is the most disorganized, poorly managed, and overpriced ticketing platform I have ever experienced in over 30 years of producing events. I should have come to trustpilot before considering this service.

It has been over 6 weeks since my event concluded and they have yet to get it together enough to send my EFT. This after charging all of my registrants, including ones that I refunded or canceled for whatever reason, $2.50 per registrant.

What an absolute nightmare it is to work with them.

I accidentally signed up for a trial…

I accidentally signed up for a trial membership, I only wanted to sign up for a race. As soon as I received welcome email I promptly emailed them back stating it was accidental. They responded with use the trial I rejected and asked them to cancel. They DO NOT CANCEL then charged me for annual membership fee !!! Several request to cancel and they have not refunded fees. I will not signup for another race that uses active as their facilitator !!

I've used them three times to Register…

I've used them three times to Register athletes in the races I organized. I will never use them again. The worst communicators. We are being held up in over $10,000 in registration fees they have run out of excuses as why they haven't released OUR money for the charities we raised for...in the most vernacular terms " they suck" !
I advise you not to use this company.

Opportunistic

I signed up for a race for 3 people and they automatically added £30 worth of insurance as it was set to default. I emailed immediately when i saw the extra charge come out of my bank and they still wouldn't refund it. It is a product I do not want or need considering the race has very flexible cancellation terms. Such a scam!

Bolton Marathon, Active, Booking Protect Scam

I entered Bolton Marathon, paid for booking protect through active.com. Bolton Marathon director Richard Smith then disappeared, set up a new company move house and walked away with the money for Bolton Marathon, no effort to deliver an event for 2022!
I contacted Active to explain this, and say that reports had gone into Action Fraud, but they said I had to contact the organiser, which I explained I had been trying to across all channels for a few months, he ignores everything even when I can tell it has been seen.
I contacted booking protect, which I purchased through Active at point if booking, they said they don't partner with active as they do it in house now, so I contacted Active who said it's booking protect and if they don't refund it contact the organiser! I am sick of getting fobbed to a bone existent organiser that has pocketed all the money, set himself up with a new life, and Active simply don't care and keep fobbing me off. Active sold me a fake insurance, for a fake event and will not help in anyway. I definitely won't be booking through active.com anymore! Feeling extremely let down and ripped off.

Useless

Constant errors when trying to book Ironman events through Active.com, impossible to reach anyone.

Ironman Staffordshire just as useless, took a month to reply to my email, shocking.

Turns out Active.com's software doesn't work properly with some browsers like Chrome. Basic, basic requirement

Would have given them a big fat zero if that was an option

London Triathlon

See the reviews below for all you need to know and do not use under any circumstances. They did not let me cancel my booking, do not answer emails, and have made me lose out on £100+ pounds. I am working out how to get behind their wall of silence, be it a court claim if necessary. To avoid this hassle - DO NOT USE.

Appalling organisation

Appalling organisation, dont answer emails, dont answer "contact us" forms, hundreds of pounds out of pocket. Would recommend companies stay away from them for payment for their events.

I FEEL UTTERLY DEFRAUDED

Months after promising me a refund I still don't have it. They send me emails saying they will take action to look into my refund but never do. Same old response each time I send an email. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE.

Insurance refund

I had an in person race out of state I signed up for and with everything going on this was the first time I purchased insurance (thinking I was doing the right thing) just in case with everything going on, you know 2020.

However the race was just switched to virtual which I refuse to pay for that and apparently the people hosting the race are giving refunds but of course active is not refunding me my insurance cost. They are by far the worst company to deal with and their customer service is not at all helpful nor empathetic just basically said no refund and sent a link to the details.

I wish there was a”zero” It’s almost…

I wish there was a”zero” It’s almost pointless to write this because it seems like most of us has the same complaint. This is year two of charging me a membership fee. This time is extra special because they replied to my request for refund and cancelation with “thanks for giving our membership another try” Now riddle me this, why did they charge me in the first place if I didn’t have a membership to start with?

Tricked to pay twice for the same service...

Registered for Ironman 70.3 Cascais 2020 including photo service and medal engraving. Paid for it all, but then the event was pushed to 2021 and I received a link to resign in all good, but now I have to pay all over for the photo service and the medal engraving...! Have submitted a ticket 10 days ago and haven’t heard back at all.
I feel tricked and are very disappointed.
