Poor returns
All my big investments payments have been put back, not a few weeks, but years!! Its so dissapointing especially in light that I had to wait years for the investment dates to arrive in the first place. So amny of the investments have been bad - the usual emails arrive just before its time to cash out - re structure, refinance or 'we can't pay you but here's some buttons you can hold onto'. I would avoid this as an investment platform. I even bought shares in it many years ago as I believed in the philosophy. Give your money to an environmental charity. Its the same deal.
Seemingly very good projects to invest in. But, buyer beware!
I chose to invest with Abundance in 2018. They seemed to offer investments to fund good ideas for green energy generation, charging points etc for cities like Manchester.
The maturity payout for my first investment: energy generation (2018) has been pushed back to 2029
The maturity for the second investment: charging points (2021) has now been pushed back to 2031!
Think VERY carefully about investing in anything "positive" as you may find it becomes negative
Disappointed
Is there any verification procedure or risk assessment that goes on when choosing companies to lend to? It's so disappointing to be let down on payments at the frequency it happens. I understand that there is a risk but it should be better managed with better protection for investors. I was relying on an end of month payout but just received the inevitable email that it won't be happening. This is also the most untransparent platform for clarity of losses and gains. I started using the platform several years ago as I wanted ethical and environmental investments but I can't recommend them. They may as well call it a charitable donation platform.
Poor due diligence on company investments
Abundance's due diligence for some of their company investments has been very poor. They started off with a fairly reliable model for investing in small scale renewables where there was a clear path to market and these investments have generally worked. They then tried to diversity into areas that they seemed to know little about (housing, biofuels, agriculture) where they appear to have been taken advantage of by unscruplous entrepreneurs and outright crooks. While investors might expect the occasional higher risk investment to fail, the success rate with Abundance investments which have moved away from their inital base has been very low compared to other platforms even allowing for the difficult economic conditions caused by COVID, the Ukraine and Iran wars and Donald Trump generally being an unstable idiot. At times they seem to have been completely fobbed off by flimsy reports from companies without making the slightest effort to ground truth what's being said.
More recently they have moved on to offer bonds to invest in local councils which are much lower risk (with consequently lower return rates) and these are working fine.
Oh look another “we ain’t got the money…
Oh look another “we ain’t got the money to pay you” notice a couple of weeks before maturity🤯 I held up my part of the bargain and these notifications are getting more and more regular, I guess companies see that Abundance investors are easy meat and that’s it game over for me, not getting what I was on target for and Abundance ain’t gonna fight your corner as they have had their cut up front. I haven’t forgot about the abysmal investments that went bust, who loses money on property in this country for crying out loud, and don’t get me started on the magic light growing farms that never had any electricity!!!
easy and rapid
You will lose your money
19k invested over 5 investments. 1 completely lost, 1 in administration,1 now awaiting delayed interest. I had another 5k invested which was doing fine and paying interest on time. This was repaid early as the company found a cheaper source of funding. Avoid Abundance.
Great experience &very easy to join
It's great experience very easy to join and trustful company and people who bring mercy in our community and bourogh to better living in the future with great people who working hard for council
Easy on -line platform to use
Easy on -line platform to use, but frustrating that the Council that I wanted to invest in, is no longer open for that opportunity.
Clear answers from telephone enquiries.
Couldn't be easier.
I've invested with councils through Abundance for a number of years now. Small investments from £10 and it couldn't be easier.
I regularly get notified of capital and interest payments back to my account.
Good customer service
I thought I made a costly mistake in setting up my investment and sent the team an email. But to my surprise I woke up to an encouraging quick response from Tom. I followed his explanation on the email and it was easier for me. Thanks again Tom and I hope you dont mind me mentioning your first name.

The whole process was very straightforward. I am delighted to help a council finance a climate control project.
Deposit process slow to show in app and payment taken twice with no confirmation. and unable
1 no warning of needing photo id to open account until well into process . 2 Deposit made but did not show in abundance account or in bank account. Normal confirmation of payment did not show as in other similar apps. I repeated the process but it still was not confirmed in bank or in abundance account Payments eventually showed up some time later - both payments had been made. I attempted withdrawal of one but system told me to contact staff to make a withdrawal - not possible outside office hours apparently. I was allowed to make my intended investment outside office hours but not to make a withdrawal to correct double payment. Poor!
I get the impression the app has not been fully tested.
LATE EDIT 3/12/25
Ability to withdraw has appeared a few hours later . Still find app disappointing due to delays in displaying my deposits and lack of confirmations/ notifications . Actually no on screen or email notification of deposits made - just a balance displayed later on. Completion of original deposit led to redisplaying of a fresh, blank "make a deposit screen. Which led to me trying again hence double payment.
Refund of excess payment notified via email mail but will not happen for 1 - 2 days. Why the delay?
