We rented car in 7m Rent a Car

We rented car in 7m Rent a Car. Car (ford) was in super conditions, good breaks, we took automatical gear. Price was bigger than average in Madeira (maybe, as google said), but this car worth it. it was closes Car rent to our hotel. Also good manager gave us free ticket for whale watching in ocean, it was good surprise. Next time visiting Madeira i am ready to rent a car here again. :)

Positive experience

We had a positive experience renting a car from 7m. The car rental process was smooth and efficient, although we did have to wait for about 20-30 minutes in a cue. The staff member who assisted us was very friendlyj, helpful and made the process enjoyable. The car itself was clean, comfortable, and performed well. All the features were in working order. Overall, we were very satisfied with our rental.

Attention scammers!

Attention scammers!
Car rental company 7M Rent a car swindled us for 647 euros! beware of the tires on their cars!
The situation took place in October this year. We rented a car, a Ford Focus, with full insurance. Immediately it came to our attention that the car was all scratched in the right side, so we focused on accurately describing the condition of its body, so that later we would not be accused of damaging the car. However, we decided to take the car, drawing up an accurate record of defects with the rental company. However, not accurate enough as it turned out later.
We had rented this car 1.5 days, I would like to emphasize that we drove only on paved asphalt, safe roads. On 03/10/2024, while driving on the asphalt road ER1 - Estrada dos Prazeres - near the intersection with Caminho Lombo da Velha street, a message appeared in our rental car about a loss of pressure in the right front tire. We stopped the vehicle and directly contacted the Assistance 24h provided by the lessor - 7m rent a car, in view of the fact that we had purchased premium insurance - SCDW. We were informed that our insurance did not cover tires and the only assistance would be provided to us after agreeing to pay the full quoted amount on the spot - €647(for one tire!). The amount was presented to us in a cursory manner, without a detailed quote for services. The staff was abrasive and accused us of driving offroad, which never happened!
We were strongly urged in stress to make a decision with the fact that if we did not agree to pay then the assistance procedure would not be launched, and a replacement car would not be sent to us, and that a lawsuit would be initiated. We believe that this was extortion.
We realized that the front tires were in very bad condition, crossed, worn out with very worn tread. It was certainly not the condition we had driven to for 1.5 days of driving on asphalt! The amount is cosmic for one tire and no one gave us a reasonable estimate. And this amount was not mentioned in the contract. Providing us with a car with tires in such bad condition was unacceptable from the point of view of our safety.
Investigating your rights in a foreign country is complicated and expensive. We filed a complaint with the rental company, but got no response from them, so they continue to operate by tricking people into paying for tires that simply wear out.

The consumer - that is, us - had the right to take the car based on trust in a professional rental company, without checking it beyond the average. Focused on the description of damage to the body - scratches, etc. (we have photographic documentation), we did not pay attention to the condition of the tires, assuming that the priority would be to deliver tires in good condition
We believe that the cause of the failure was the wear and tear of the front tires and their general poor condition. During our drive, we did not encounter anything that could damage the tires. The car had been in our possession since the previous day (2/10/2024), hence with our use, the claim that we are responsible for the tire damage is unjustified,
The car rental company's unilateral acknowledgment that it was our fault and forcing us to immediately pay 647 euros was not justified. The car was damaged through no fault of ours, and putting us in the position that without immediate payment of 647 euros the rental company would not take care of the damaged car was extortion, so to speak, under difficult circumstances, with a damaged car, in a foreign country.

Even the employee who picked up our car was shocked that we were told to pay such a high amount for one tire!
We highly advise against using the services of this company

Price is ok

When we picked up the car, it was dirty from the inside, so the second day we found a lot of ants in the car. The guy who drove us to the airport, drove the car so fast and crazy that we weren't sure if we will survive this short trip. We almost hit another cars few times. It was a really dangerous drive.
Positive side is the price which was ok. We ordered a manual car but we got automatic, which was even better because of steep and narrow streets of Madeira.

AVOID

My experience of this branch is that they were very poor. A long wait to deal with the paperwork is not unusual for a small business such as this, but of much more concern was the fact that the deposit was debited to my UK credit card twice in error, and the resultant additional card charges and loss on exchange were not reimbursed to me when the deposit was finally repaid. The refund took very nearly a week (much quicker with the bigger operations).
Of course while I accept card charges are standard, it was 7m’s error that resulted in these being duplicated, yet they refuse to acknowledge this or refund.
My complaints were simply dismissed in a cursory manner and no apology forthcoming.
I certainly will not be using them again, especially as I have now discovered that there are plenty of cost effective alternatives on the Island, and even locally in the immediate vicinity.
Very happy to provide all of the booking details, in order to avoid the recurring generic and dismissive response from the 7m team suggesting that the review is false.
I’m told that they have been reported to the police in the past, and I understand that they may be in financial difficulties hence the issues with the deposits and shortage of staff (long queues).
Given the complaints about the quality of their vehicles as well, i would use one of the more well known international hire companies, especially as 7m are not cheap.

The customer support was awful.

The customer support was awful.
I wanted to rent a motorcycle, but when I was supposed to pick it up, the documentation of the bike was missing. I had to walk for 2 hours by the time they were delivered to the office, and by that time, I was already fed up! Then, when I checked the gasoline tank, which was on limit and blinking, I was told, “No the tank is half full! I am an experienced bike rider! They would not refund me at all. So watch out for bad services!
