Great Customer Support

I purchased an Ergo 24hr office chair back in late 2024, which arrived quickly within a couple of days. The chair has been great, but unfortunately developed a fault in the locking mechanism. I reached out to the customer support line through their phone number and spoke to the store. They were very supportive, and after sending a quick follow up email to them with a few pictures, they contacted the manufacturer and secured a replacement part for me the same day! The part arrived a couple of days later and the chair is like new again. Great service - always nice to deal with people who care. - Joe

Skeptical First-Time Buyer: Exceptional Service & Quality

Ordered a Nautlius Resolute executive mesh chair from 121 Furniture. As a first time buyer I was worried about some of the negative review I saw, let me assure you that they are all false. Had some queries about my order and spoke to Steven, top bloke, who happily answered all of my questions and concerns. There was a slight issue with stock of my chair but I immediately got an email from Steven who provided options to resolve this. Delivery was done within the provided time window swiftly and professionally by the suppliers courier (DPD). Really happy with 121 Home and Office Furniture and will recommend to anyone who is looking for high quality home and office furniture for a considerably reasonable price.

Negative reviews of items do not get posted.

Bought a chair from them after seeing it reviewed so well. When it came I was shocked at the poor quality of it, return policy is useless as I'd obviously opened the box. I decided to write a review for it on their website only to find my 2 star review for the chair never posted and when I started looking around their site I realized there isn't a single review that isn't at least a 4/5 posted. Should be ashamed of themselves.

Yes due to some fictitious reviews some containing Homophobic and Sexual references not linked to our site we do not post reviews that don't have the customers surname to allow us to trace them if they area genuine customer. I now see your review and it is live on our site.

Regarding not posting reviews this sadly is totally incorrect. We post all reviews we can trace as people are allowed their genuine comments and in fact there are a few negative reviews specifically on products and not our service. The chair you have reviewed is the biggest selling chair we sell and also the supplier of it and in 99.9% of the cases people are happy with it. I personally have one in the office and one in my home office and have done for the last 3 years with no issues. I also notice that you haven't contacted us in any way to discuss any issues where we may have been able to resolve them. You should also note that we proudly hold a 4.8 98% google review score where customers are reconfirming their delight at our products and service. As you will hopefully appreciate it not everyone will be happy. I hope this clarifies your comments.

What an excellent company

What an excellent company - o ordered two chairs - chairs great quality. On delivery only one of two was delivered.

I contacted 121 straight away and they couldn’t have been more helpful. Traced the chair and got the second one delivered promptly.

Very professional company with excellent aftercare service. More chairs will be ordered very soon

Damaged goods & missing castors

Chair arrived while we were on holiday & was left outside. I did inform the company we were going to be away but obviously no notice was taken. The castors were missing & there were 2 dents in the 5 arm base, the box was damaged too. The castors were sent on.

Hi Karen On review off your order DX the courier were informed that you were away 10-12th Dec and even on an order update off which they advised delivery would be the 11th we went back to them and were told the delivery would be the 13th. Typical off this time off year with couriers this did not happen and apologies for this. On file shows no castors received and we got the supplier to dispatch these that day for next day delivery, however what I cannot see is any reference to any dents that you refer to. If this is the case could you send some photos across and we will resolve this for you. Thanks Michael

Nightmare experience with Office Chair

Bought an office chair online from 121 Office Furniture. Chair arrived promptly but upon assembly I noticed the chair felt flimsy and did not meet the expectation set by the product description. I called the store to ask for a refund and spoke to Michael. He agreed to collect but mentioned that as I had assembled the chair it would count as “used” and therefore subject to a restocking fee.

I mentioned that is in contravention to my statutory rights as a consumer and he responded to discuss over email. I’m glad he did as I have a paper trail now.

In my initial email I referred to the Consumer Rights Act and Distance Selling Regulations, which state that if online goods received are of unsatisfactory quality the buyer has entitlement to return them at retailers expense. I also quoted the relevant legislation that states deductions for an item being “used” can only apply where an item is damaged beyond what is necessary to inspect it.

Regardless, Michael kept insisting terms for a limited refund and therefore I took it up with PayPal. Once that dispute was opened Michael agreed to pick up the chair at their expense (he originally wanted me to pay £25 for collection). I carefully disassembled the chair, dusted it down and returned everything to the original box and had it collected. I didn’t hear anything for 2 weeks and when I enquired via PayPal resolution centre I kept getting told that they need to wait for the supplier to inspect the package.

That’s absolutely irrelevant. As I had to point out several times, according to the sale of goods act the contract is with myself and the retailer - 121 Office Furniture. Whatever the arrangement is between 121 and their suppliers is completely irrelevant to our contract. The refund should have been actioned upon receipt of the chair and a brief visual inspection to ensure all components were there and undamaged.

Every step of this process has been obstructed by 121. Let’s look at it objectively: I bought a chair that did not match the item description. I asked for a refund, and the expense the retailer incurs to action this should be invoiced back to the supplier for supplying an inferior product, or accounted for as shrinkage in the product margins.

Instead, 121 fought me tooth and nail through every step of the process, allowing the PayPal case to proceed the full amount of time before PayPal awarded the case to me in lieu of a resolution being achieved through communication between the buyer and seller.

Was I unreasonable here? Absolutely not. I bought a product not-as-described and wanted a refund to the tune of not being out of pocket for feeling hoodwinked. Consider that I’m a 6ft male. The TOP of the headrest on this chair digs in to the top of my neck because my shoulders push into the bottom of the headrest. When I pointed out that I am of average height, 121 fired back with “actually the average height of a male is 5ft 10” - as if the extra 2 inches leniency would prevent this poorly designed, unergonomic headrest pressing into the top of your spine. The more 121 pushed back, the firmer I stood my ground.

If this review looks like a fun adventure, then I would recommend buying from 121 Office Furniture, otherwise I recommend buying elsewhere that respects the Consumer Rights we have in the UK.

EDIT: Michael, appreciate the response & the returns rate in general on this chair.

However as was a key theme with our email communication, you are again ignoring a critical aspect of our transaction and our statutory rights. You are the retailer, I am the consumer. The nature of the agreement to return and refund is strictly between us. Your supplier has as much relevance to me as the bag of oranges on my kitchen counter has to you.

Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended)
Section 14(2) (Satisfactory Quality):

"Where the seller sells goods in the course of a business, there is an implied term that the goods supplied under the contract are of satisfactory quality."
Section 14(6) (Retailer's Responsibility):

"As regards a contract for the transfer of goods, references in this section to the seller are to the person transferring or purporting to transfer the property in goods under the contract."

The Sale of Goods Act & Consumer Contracts Regulations both make the retailer, not the supplier or manufacturer responsible in the case where the customer finds the goods to be of unsatisfactory quality.

This is what I kept telling you over the phone & then via email. The rules of your industry do not override the statutory rights set out in the Sale of Goods Act.

As you will see our reviews are excellent and having received this poor review, we feel it very important to reply.

I am the owner of this small family business and we pride ourselves on the customer service we provide.

All our product descriptions are clear, concise and in line with the information we receive from the suppliers.

I am sorry the customer felt the chair was flimsy and did not meet the product description.

This particular chair has been sold by the supplier 182 times over the last 2 months with no complaints. However, I do understand that different customers have different needs and this is why there is a refund process in place.

The customer called to complain and ask for his chair to be returned and a refund to be made.

At this point, I advised that as the chair was built, it would need to be dismantled without any marks to allow the supplier to take the return.

This is a standard process we follow and was not by any means an avoidance of not having the chair returned.

Under legislation, customers do have a duty of care to return goods in the same condition as they receive them.

I asked the customer for an email to be sent to us with the details so we could then pass to our suppliers, again as per our standard process and also allows a record of communications to keep everyone right.

It was not a restocking fee that was discussed with the customer.

I advised there may be a courier charge which was subsequently waived for the customer. There was no mention of a restocking charge and courier charges do not contravene the customer's statutory rights.

Within our refund policy on our site it does state that return delivery costs will be the responsibility of the customer unless the goods are faulty or defective.

However, as I have said this was waived for the customer by the supplier after we appealed against the charge.

During my call with the customer, he did say he would raise a Paypal dispute if the refund was not completed. I advised I would look into this but the customer did not give me this time and subsequently raised a Paypal dispute before I was able to respond to him with a resolution.

I was able to have the courier fee paid by the supplier and the chair was picked up within 3 working days of the complaint being first raised.

When an item is returned to the supplier in our industry, this needs to be checked before any release of a refund.

The refund was actioned within the deadline date from Paypal of 13 December.

All in all, there was no refusal at any point in accepting the return from the customer. As a retailer who has been in business for many years, we adhere to the Consumer Rights Act and Distance Selling Regulations and we will always do the right thing for our customers.

We hope that all prospective customers view our other excellent reviews which show our integrity and continued focus on our providing excellent customer service.

At no times did we not adhere by the law. Whether the goods are checked by us or the supplier is irrelevant and nothing to get hung up on! The item had to be returned. It was and in due course and checked to a satisfactory level off return and the money was refunded within the time constraints given. Our terms and conditions on our site like most retailers mirror the suppliers and you will know when purchasing you have to agree with these before you can purchase on our site. I therefor assume you haven't read them or we wouldn't be having this conversation in public.

excellent customer service

I ordered the TC Panther Black Leather Office Chair and communication on the delivery was really good. It arrived quickly, however the back section was damaged. I contacted Michael and he was quick to respond and passed the images and issue to the company who supplied the chair. They sent a replacement and collected the damaged chair. Michael kept me informed throughout the process, this level of customer service is rare and I really appreciated it, as the chair was a gift. I would recommend them to others and will definitely check their site first if I need office furniture.

shakar dining chairs

Purchased 4 x shakar dining chairs. Michael called the next day to say that the courier wanted £24 to ship to Elgin. He was so apologetic and it was obviously out of his hands. We went ahead and all went smoothly. Chairs were well packaged and the delivery men were nice.

The chairs themselves look lovely. Very pleased.
The only gripe I have is the seat. It does sink down quite a bit when you sit on it. For the money, I would have expected better padding.

All in all, I've had a good experience with the company and would definitely recommend them.

Good product - poor communications

I ordered a tall oak cupboard which is fine. The quality is ok and assembly was straightforward with good instructions.

The downside of my experience was around the communication of delivery.

I got a message to say it would be arriving the next day, with no prior warning or opportunity to change the day.
I wasn’t going to be in, but could not contact 121 despite phoning on numerous occasions. All you get is an answer machine, I get the impression the company is a one man band.
Eventually I had to leave garage open with a note on door - which is not ideal

Superb company

Staff were excellent and kept me informed of my delivery. Item was received on time, well packaged and perfect condition. Even the courier company they used were fantastic.

Quick and understanding customer service

I bought a chair here about 4 months ago however there was a defect, which is bound to happen on occasion with any product.
They were fantastic in resolving this though.. even after I was less than polite to them they solved my issue within the same day of me giving them the opportunity to do so by organising a replacement part.
Highly recommend, especially for the customer service.

The speed of delivery was phenomenal

Great trustworthy company

Great trustworthy company. My office chair was giving me problems after three years of use. due to my ill health they arranged with their supplier to have it fixed, under guarantee, at my house. They really went the extra mile to help me.
