Avoid Green Motion Athens at all costs.

I prepaid for a Hyundai i30 (or similar) via Booking.com for pickup at Athens Airport on 10 Aug 2025. On arrival there was no representative to meet me. When I eventually found the office, I was told my booking was cancelled because I was 2 hours late – a policy never disclosed to me.

Instead of the car I paid for, I was given a battered Nissan Note with 70,000 km, dents and scratches on every panel, torn seats, a rattling rear window, no USB/CarPlay, and air conditioning that barely worked in 35°C heat. Totally unsuitable for a long drive across Greece.

This was an appalling start to my holiday, causing stress and inconvenience. Customer service has been unhelpful, offering no immediate replacement or resolution.

I have rented cars worldwide for over 20 years, and this is by far the worst experience I’ve ever had. Do not trust Green Motion!

Premature Timing Belt Failure and Poor Aftercare from Ford

I purchased my Ford Transit Custom new in 2020. At just 34,000 miles—and well before the recommended 10-year/144,000-mile interval—the timing belt failed, costing me over £1,700 in repairs. Despite the part clearly failing prematurely, Ford refused any financial assistance or goodwill.

Now, just 7 months later, a warning light has appeared. I requested a diagnostic under the 12-month warranty for the original repair, but the dealer and Ford insist I pay over £150/hr just to investigate, refusing to even assess whether it’s connected.

This shows a complete lack of accountability and aftercare for what is clearly a product quality issue. If Ford won’t stand behind its engineering—or its repairs—I won’t be buying another.

Dont buy a Ford Transit Custom!

You will need to change the wet belt (design fault) after 6 years, regardless of mileage at a cost of £2K.
Terrible customer service, no empathy with the customer - shocking on all fronts.

2K to replace the wet belt in my Ford…

2K to replace the wet belt in my Ford Transit Custom at five years old.
Have been going round in circles with Ford Customer service - they have not given anything towards it - and are refusing to do so. Based upon this I would not buy this van, its not fit for purpose - you have to replace it every six years (or five in my case!

Do not buy a FORD TRANSIT CUSTOM - after 6 years you have to replace the timing belt at a cost of £2K. The customer service you receive is abhorrent. It's ridiculous.

Dont buy a FORD TRANSIT CUSTOM

You should be aware that the wet belt system in these cars is faulty - FORD have reduced the life expectancy of this part from 10 years / 150K miles to 6 years / 100K miles.
