Baffle plate for Evergreen stove

Let me know it was going to be delivered a day late. Though no time slot - just by end of day. Came late afternoon. Hopefully the delivery would have been left in the shed as requested if no one was in.

Unfortunately the product has been modified (screw holes instead of lugs and not clear on web site) so now have to get someone to install

Review of Olympic Holidays

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Visit to Symi 7th to 14th October 2015 an enjoyable holiday.

The Olympic welcome at Rhodes airport was pleasant enough but no hand out of where I was staying or pick up times for the next day travel on to Symi. As I had been before, I knew that I would have to stay over night in Rhodes - but for a person traveling to Symi for the first time it could have been confusing. The Rep gave no welcome or patter on the coach - I would have liked to know he weather forecast! It was all a bit down beat. Slight confusion of where we we staying - due to not having a hand out. I'm sure the rep was lovely but not sure of her experience?

We were given details later in the evening (well nearer midnight) of the next morning pick up times. The stay over hotel was adequate but i have no idea where we were.

The coach was due to pick us up at 7.15 am the next morning - but arrived 40 minutes late. I was very surprised that there was no rep on the coach.

We were taken to the port and we left our bags on the ferry but realised we did not have tickets. Again,as I had been before, I knew where the ticket kiosk was and also just followed others. There was a ticket with my name on at the kiosk - so that was efficient. But again if you were travelling for the first time, or something had gone wrong, then there was no rep to help. A couple had lost their previous night's instructions and were worried that they would not get tickets - but they were OK.

We were met by a rep at the Symi port - I had to help a fellow passenger with her luggage as there was not one else to help her carry her bag up the any steps to the hotel. If I was not there she would have had to struggle herself. We checked in ourselves.

The Olympic welcome get together was worthwhile and useful - also a free beer!

I didn't go on any organised trips, as I had done some before (the round the island boat trip is good value for money). There is plenty of opportunity for walking. Water taxis travel out to beaches . Nos beach is on the edge of the town. The water taxis did not operate one day due the weather and changed the timetable the next day - as it was the end of season. I know one person missed a water taxi ride as the change in times happened overnight.

There were several groups of refugees arriving during my stay and were accommodated in the police station. They often sat on the steps leading up to my hotel but did seem to be processed quickly as they disappeared after a day or two - only to be replaced with another group. There is a help centre open for donations near the police station.

I was disappointed that on my last day of my holiday I was not allowed to catch the 4 pm ferry to Rhodes (as I had been on my previous visit in May two years ago). I had to catch the 8 am ferry. As my flight was not until 23.25 from Rhodes airport, and my pick up time in Rhodes town was not until 20.35 - I had really lost a day on Symi and had a whole day to kill in Rhodes town.

The reason given was the lack of taxis due the end of season and if there were any problems with the 4 pm ferry then Olympic couldn't cope. Not sure If I fully understood that.

I have limited knowledge of the town and island of Rhodes. To be frank - if you choose to have a holiday in Symi you would not choose to spend a day in Rhodes town. I was given no details of Rhodes - other than a conversation with the Symi rep and the receptionist at the International Hotel In Rhodes Town.

Although I could leave my luggage in a locked room in the hotel, provided by Olympic, and the staff were very pleasant - I didn't enjoy changing in the cramped men's toilets in the evening, especially when someone else wanted to use them. I could have done with a shower - as I spent time on the beach. I managed to leave my sunglasses behind. I actually ended up also changing in the corridor outside the loos and used the ladies next door as well!

Our pick up at 20.5 was efficient, friendly and on time . Again no Olympic rep!

Check in again was fine - we just joined the check in queue.

My flights were both with Thomas Cook. The flights were efficient but not enjoyable. Leg room is very limited and I found both journeys uncomfortable.

I was hoping to get a sandwich or roll on the flight out - but none were offered. Apparently you have to order (hot) food when you are booking your holiday. No doubt this opportunity is available for those booking Thomas Cook holidays - but not available to Olympic customers. Given I didn't get any food on the plane going out; there was no food at the stay over hotel in the evening or in the morning - i didn't get any food until I was on the ferry to Symi the next morning.

Going back, I made sure I ate before boarding the plane!

My holiday was good of course - Symi and its people are great. The weather was mostly good. I was happy with my self catering accommodation - Anastasoulla - as it was virtually on the harbour (just behind the police station) was quiet and very clean.

However in future I will try to avoid flying with Thomas Cook. For any flight booking, I will try to discover the in flight services before hand and book extra leg room if necessary.

Olympic seem to be cost cutting and reducing the rep services - maybe it is the way the industry is going - but at least I will be prepared next year and probably book everything myself - independently.
