Hello, we’re Zempler Bank. We’re here to make money simpler. We know that banking isn’t at the top of most people’s to do lists, that’s why making it less of a chore is at the top of ours. We don’t do banking the traditional way – the wrong way. We do banking that works for the people that need it, when they need it. We’re for the crafters, the grafters, and the self starters. The bank for sole traders and those just starting up. And small businesses with growth on their minds and less time than they’d like. Just because you’re going it alone doesn’t mean you have to do it on your own. That’s where we step in – smart technology, straightforward human service, and bank accounts that meet real-life needs. We’ve already helped over 650,000 businesses get off the ground. We’re here to do banking right and support our customers for the long haul.

Cathy (or Kathy, apologies if I spelled the name wrong) was excellent. Very knowledgeable, professional, and extremely competent.
She provided outstanding service and is a real credit to Zempler Bank.

As a quick to setup backup option, they're fine. But if you're considering relying on Zempler in any way as your main account for either business or personal use I would think twice.
The fact is, I do not know a single person who has had a Zempler account and not had their account fully "restricted" at some point. Let's be clear, banks have a duty to themselves, the consumer and the banking system to be vigilant and to restrict accounts pending investigation. But let me explain how this process works with Zempler:
1) You will receive NO notification that your account has been restricted. Not a text, call or email. The first you will know of it is that your card won't work or you'll be unable to log in to your account. There is no reason to operate this way. Zempler send out notifications by multiple forms all the time but on this subject they will leave you completely unaware.
2) When you realise there is a problem you'll call them. The person you speak to will have NO information to give you at all. They will read from a script in which they tell you the account is restricted, that someone will be in touch once the restriction has been reviewed and that you are referred to sections 10 and 11 of your Ts and Cs (Which basically say "we can restrict your account if we like").
3) You will receive NO further communication. No indication of timescale or of what the issue is. That will be that while they "review" your account.
4) While restricted, not only can you not access funds, any payments into the account will be immediately returned. This means that anyone that you've given your account details to previously will require an explanation as to why their payment is bouncing straight back to them. Again, there is no reason why Zempler should stop payments going in. All other banks allow payments in while reviewing business accounts in this way.
5) If you're lucky, at some point you will receive a text (turns out they can send those if they like) stating the restriction has been lifted. You'll get no information as to why it was restricted in the first place. It'll just all be fine again. But this could be days, weeks or months after the restriction was applied and you'll have no idea how to avoid the problem in future.
6) If you're not lucky at some point (again, could be any conceivable amount of time) you'll be told they're closing your account. They will not tell you why and they will not tell you when your funds will be returned. You will then begin the long road of trying to get them to give you back your own money all while having to set up new accounts with a new bank and trying to keep your finances above water.
As I say, as a back up option they're fine. For anything else, avoid at all costs.
**EDIT**
Darn it. I forgot number 7.
7) When you inevitably write them a 1-star review they won't even read it. Their AI reply bot will issue a standard reply asking you to give them more details so they can look into the problem and come back to you. Even when the reason for the 1-star review is that they don't respond to any attempt at contact.
Spoiler Alert: Providing more information won't help the process at all. You won't even get a reply from any sort of real person.
Honestly, read the other 1-star reviews. They're all exactly the same. "My account has been restricted and no one at Zempler will tell me why or how long until it's fixed".
You can't run a business with these guys as your bank.

Answered my question about my currency card, helpful knowledgeable customer service.

It’s a rubbish app, akin to the first mobile apps of 20 years ago, you should ask for a demo first.
They closed my account with zero explanation. Solid start up business, all above board, so inconvenient. That’s OK, but the complete disregard from their customer service was horrible.

I contacted the bank today to be met by a lady with a very strong foreign accent. I struggled to understand her and had to get her to repeat questions again and again. I tried to get her to understand my postcode for nearly 20 minutes. A standard postcode. I had to use an expired credit card from 5 years ago for her to find my account. I asked her how she was going to remedy my actual reason for calling when it took so long to even verify my details to get into the account!

Hi,
We had a payment made to us at the weekend that was held for further security checks, I had arranged this payment in time to cover our payroll which goes out today, after sending further proof as to the origin of the payment I received confirmation it was to be applied to our account earlier today thank you, however by 3pm it still hadn't arrived and time was ticking on to pay everyone, I rang through to your helpline and a gentleman called Will answered and what a gentleman he truly was, he could not have been more helpful, twice he went off to query it and try to sort it, he wouldn't give up until he sorted it, and sort it he did, his manner and reassurance and help was way beyond anything I could have expected, people are to quick to moan these days and not praise people when its the other way round.
Please thank Will if possible he certainly made my day and that's not only by solving it its more the way he went about it.
Many thanks
John White
