Today marks six months since my YouPic…

Today marks six months since my YouPic…

Today marks six months since my YouPic account @alan_Poland was banned.
The account would still exist if the site's terms of service applied ONLY to the YouPic terms of service, but in reality, they also apply to what people write about it elsewhere.
I've written critical reviews of YouPic here several times (issues with bugs in the older version of the "old YouPic"), so my YouPic account was illegally banned. Contacting the administration is like talking to a clerk in Lublin – in other words, arrogance and rudeness to users.
I wonder if they've managed to ban a few more users in those six months for nothing? Of course they have. But they didn't want me. They only care about money. You'll find me on another site. I won't write about them anymore so as not to "annoy" YouPic.

I have contacted support several times…

I have contacted support several times to request the deletion of my YouPic account and all associated personal data, but I have never received any response. It is extremely difficult to get any reply from them, even for a data-protection request. What does it take to have a request processed? Very disappointing customer service.

Got scammed

I was contacted by someone on the platform who claimed they had a client interested in purchasing one of my images. They were very complimentary and mentioned that this "media outlet" wanted to lease my image for $15. While the amount was low, they framed it as a great first sale that could lead to future opportunities. They also mentioned that I would be added to the client's photographer directory, which sounded promising.

However, to proceed with the sale, they said I needed to upgrade to a PRO membership, which cost me around $100. They even offered a discount code to make the deal seem more appealing. After paying for the PRO membership, I received a small payment of about $15 for the image, far less than what I had spent.

When I started asking more questions, like who the client was and how my image would be used, the responses were vague. They refused to reveal the client’s name, claiming it was common practice in social media marketing and not to worry. It became clear to me that the whole thing was a setup to get me to pay for the PRO membership, with no real value or genuine clients involved.

After realizing what had happened, I quickly canceled my PRO subscription. The whole experience left me feeling pretty bad, especially knowing that the platform itself seems to be complicit in these scams. They use their employees/bots to send out these kinds of messages to lure people into spending money under false pretenses.

Please be careful if you’re using YouPic or any similar service. If something feels off, trust your instincts. Don’t let the promise of a small sale convince you to invest money upfront. I’ve learned my lesson, and I hope sharing my story will prevent others from falling into the same trap.

Avoid YouPic like the plague!

As a YouPic 'pro' user I have suffered four long years of endless headaches and non-existent customer support. Having put so much into the building and ongoing development of my website, alongside using the URL in my advertising and SM, I was stuck with them. But the final straw was the double charging of the £357 annual hosting subscription. 16 months later they still have not given my money back and I cannot get a genuine (ie. non AI generated) response from them!
I have finally bitten the bullet and gone elsewhere. But I will not let the matter drop. I will continue to issue warnings such as this and am seeking legal recourse.
It's taken me five weeks to build and populate my new site. I opted for Wix, and I have to say it's been a far easier, much better and far more cost effective experience. Plus the new site looks miles better!
So please don't make the mistake I did. Avoid YouPic like the plague.

Banned for no reason - no response from support

Signed up as it looked like a good place to post images. Went back a while later to begin uploading to my profile - and found that I was banned. Can't be anything I uploaded as I hadn't uploaded anything.

People seem to think they only want paid accounts - fair enough - but be upfront about it. Why allow people to sign up and then just ban them?

Have emailed support to ask why I've been banned. No reply.

Only giving a '1' rating as I cannot give '0'

Zero Communication & Blackmail.

Finally getting round to this, been a user for a good few years, what originally started out as something different, has now turned into one of the worst run platforms known to man.

Started as a free user, then got the message saying someone is interested in licensing one of my images. Okay, great, I thought (in hindsight, one should have realised this next step), but you need a PRO/Paid membership, so okay, I took it out for a year, didn't really pay that much (as other sites use a similar pay plan for portfolios).

Only received a pittance for my 'licensed' photo. Then the redevelopment of the site occurred, into something which was nothing new or unique, just a basic cut and copy of everywhere else.

Then the next stage was to reduce the number of images per day you could upload to 2, and the next stage was 1 every 24 hours.

But wait, it gets better - now a message from the YouPic team: if you want access to your OWN images, you must pay to get a membership - literally, this message was their response:' You either pay for the usage of the site, or there will not be any free site to use anymore.' Basically holding your images to hostage unless you pay to access them!

To other people and me, this is blackmail, having to pay to access your OWN images, which have our copyright information on.

I have tried many times to get clarification, emailed, DM direct via the platform on this, but ZERO reply, none at all!

And ever better still, users are getting their images and profiles deleted and removed with no explination, ZERO communication for the YouPic team and Lisayoupic Moderator/Helper.

However, they will let scammers and theives pretend to be YouPic Team members to phiss and scam money from people - when you post an image to inform users, you get your post removed and deleted, but the scammers stay!

I have also heard of an instance where someone wrote a review on YouPic, and the next time they tried to log in, it was removed, and their account was deleted.

The only reason for the 1 stars is the other photographs and the sense of community they bring. YouPic overall deserves 0 stars.

Avoid at all costs. If I were looking for a site to host a portfolio, there are many better, well-respected places than here.

Topic…A shame and a waste.

Had a look at YouPic as found it randomly, seemed a good site for portfolio showing. For a short time seemed ok, few little technical glitches here n there. BUT then came the ‘upgrade now’ messages with some regularity, and then the ‘nail in the coffin’ was receiving a message from the CEO basically (in short) stating that this so changing to make AI more used (let’s not get started on AI with the photographer purists) and basically forcing you to pay to be on the site. (I think us photographers pay more than enough)

I sent a message back outlining a response to each pint that was sent to me, not being negative more constructive.

I was ignored…

Then today went to log in (was actually quick looking for one of my photos) and when logging in had the ‘user banned’ message.

No email…. Nothing and that’s what they choose to do. Highly unprofessional, clearly money motivated, and absolutely the opposite of user friendly.

Would highly recommend to avoid.

YouPic... Big Mistake!

I chose YouPic to provide the professional face of my photography business by using them to host my website. Big mistake!
I have experienced no end of problems over the four years of being with them. An ongoing one being this time last year they double charged my 2024 subscription (£359.88 x 2) and I have spent a year trying to get a refund. Now, as the renewal is due again, they have switched off my site access and, in their first contact with me on the subject, asked for details of the double charge. Yet now, with access to the site turned off, I cannot send the screen shots showing the proof they now require. A year late!! This is no way to run a business.

Female nudes only

Female nudes galore, but the hypocrisy is unbelievable. I'm a guy, so can barely post anything before they remove it. I'm a pilot so I was trying to post aerial photography, and they even removed pictures of my airplane. I do dog rescue, dogs got removed. All they want is female nudes, and they take those all day long, to include those from her gynecologist.

Terrible Customer Service

I had a paid premium account and my subscription lapsed. I decided to stay with the free account option whilst deciding whether to maintain my regular premium sub or upgrade to pro.

I received a message recommending I take at least a basic ‘access’ account and that some members will be blocked if they don’t pay, but I was still deliberating on whether to go pro or not.

Logged in the next day to discover I’d been banned and my 1,000 plus images (with over 13M views) had all been deleted.

Appears to be now way to appeal this or even contact them!

Customer service has been awful from day 1 really. Everything is clearly automated and run by bots.

Improvements are requested.

Pros:
- No advertisements are displayed.
- Posts receive many reactions from other users.
- There are users of various levels, from beginners to advanced.

Cons:
- The paid plan ("access") sometimes makes users to wait for several hours before they can post the next one. The description only states "increased upload limits" for this plan . The exact numbers should be specified.

YouPic: An Emply Shell

I wanted to like YouPic.com, but they make it so hard.

First, there is no customer service or real help offered. I've had two problems since paying for a "pro" account. First, I cannot do anything. I am unable to set up a shop, create a webpage, or even enter basic information for the shop or website. Of course, the help section is useless in providing answers.

Next is account access. Someone else accessed my account and made changes, including my username and name. No two-factor authentication or other ways to secure an account; what's the point?

Lastly is the amount of AI on the site. That is another factor that gives this site one star. It's supposed to be a site for photography, proper, not AI-generated garbage.

I want to close my account and delete all my photos. However, to do that, you need to send an email to an email address that appears to be unmonitored.

On 30th May 2025 I tried it

On 30th May 2025 I tried it, I didn't like it, but tried uploading some pictures, followed some people, liked some photos.
But got banned after late 31 May or night of 01 June. I got banned for no reason.
I didn't get an email with an explanation. No warning before the ban.
The website is buggy, so bio, camera info and got deleted, i re-added it maybe 5 times.
I didn't pay for Pro. I don't know if they ban people for that now.
I should've read the reviews here.
I don't have a hope for getting an answer from support.
I will stick with Flickr.

Another photograph sharing site only…

Another photograph sharing site only good for people that post nudes, beautiful photos get votes but not as much as nudes do. Its a joke, I know of no one that has made good money from this company. They do not care about you, they only want your monthly subscription. The majority of people that make money from photography are suppliers. Get your own site and promote on free media sites would be my advice if you want to try and make money. YOUPIC flatter to deceive. FACT

I tried free account, not worth it

Well, I tried YouPic for couple of weeks mostly because Flickr does not allow any NSFW pictures for free accounts anymore. But having a posting limit of one picture per 24 hours seemed too be ridiculous. Then after two-three weeks I got message supposedly from the youpic staff that I need to upgrade to paid account since they will further limit the free accounts. Further? Really? Posting one picture a week? What is next? One picture a month? One picture a year?
