The app stopped working because they insisted that I give them access to my contacts and my call logs. It was stuck on a screen to adjust my permissions to give them the access and I was not able to go past it. I called customer support and was told that I do not have to give the app those permissions and it should still work. They had me reinstall the app, and it still did not work and moreover I lost the credits that I had paid for. I finally gave the app permission to access my contacts and that made the app work again. I asked them to restore the credits but they would not do it, so I just removed the app. Never again.
I tried calling and emailing them as they suggested to no avail. They would not respond. I am done with this BS. If they need the $8 I had as credit they can keep it, it is not worth the irritation. They suck

Ask you to verified your phone number! Had $6.89 and 8 dollars credit for over a year. They Sent to verifie my number.I pickup then hang up and boom Credit down to ZERO...0000.
I explain no real answer solution and there no call history to show anything.

Do not trust this app or customer support.Absolute garbage.I was overseas and it worked fine for a while then app stopped working.I had to re register the app but my cell phone number did not have international roaming.Could not re register because I don't have international roaming.Customer support will not help you.They will keep your credits and just give you false hope.You have been warned.it will stop working and you will loose all your credits.Then they reply to message stating they have technical issues all is good now.What a load of lies,i still cant connect and im in a foreign country and i cant make calls and they wont return my money.

I had the yolla app and travelled to the Philippines. I wasn't sure if I can use it in the Philippines. I had a friendly lady answer my questions. Great news I can use it in the Philippines to call South Africa. Super happy with the call. Thank you for your help!

We’re really sorry to hear that you have concerns about your privacy.
Just to clarify — Yolla only asks for access to your contacts so that you can easily call people from your contact list. It’s meant purely for your convenience and nothing more.
Of course, if you’d prefer not to use this feature, you can disable it at any time. Simply go to Settings on your phone, find Apps > Yolla, and turn off contact access.
If that feels a bit tricky, no worries — you can also uninstall and reinstall Yolla. When you open the app again, it will ask for permission to access your contacts. Just tap “Deny” at that point.
Please keep in mind that if you choose to deny access, your contacts won’t appear in the app and you’ll need to dial numbers manually.
We hope this helps, and we’d love for you to give Yolla another chance. Your privacy matters deeply to us, and we never collect your data without your permission.

It called. It was poor quality but it worked. The main problem was paying 6.10 for 4 credit. Exchange rate....yeah right. Scam. Don't blame google it's you. Never happened on any other app or platform or for any other payment. It's Yolla scamming you.
App will be deleted. The call rates are not really spectacular either. Plus as far as I can tell no history or cost of call visible anywhere. Surely there must be.
Look at another platform. Please do so. It's not good. It's adequate. With the top up scam it's not worth it. Calls are more due to their scam so I could have just called on my mobile from Thailand to UK at full quality.

Yolla is an international service, and in compliance with local tax regulations, we are required to apply VAT — typically around 20%. In your case, since your payment was in USD, a $4.80 purchase with VAT included seems likely. However, you mentioned paying $6.10 — this may be due to currency conversion, as Yolla operates in USD only.
Regarding call rates: prices depend on local telecom operators. You can save significantly by choosing a European number for calling Europe, for example, instead of using a number from another region.
About your call history — please visit your account dashboard at yollacalls.com/en/account → “My Activity,” where you’ll find your call and top-up history from the last 90 days.
We also noticed that you hadn’t contacted our support team. That’s unfortunate, as we may have helped clarify these features earlier — and perhaps your review would have been more positive.

I signed up with Yolla as a replacement for Skype, just to call my Dad on his landline while I was on holiday in Malaysia. It worked perfectly.
But then Dad passed away a couple of days into my holiday and Yolla turned into a real life-saver for me. I had to make LOTS of LONG calls to landlines at insurance companies, airlines, etc. to organise getting home quickly, cancel arrangements, make new arrangements..... If I hadn't had Yolla I would have been paying £6.00 per minute to call with my cell phone company and spent several hundred pounds. With Yolla I was paying a few cents a minute and was able to top up my Yolla balance (using PayPal) while I was on hold with the airline.
Thanks, Yolla, for coming to the rescue in a way I had never anticipated.
