The o-toro, caviar and salmon were excellent as usual. We tried the bogo Kama toro but one went bad by the time it reached us and the other was going bad. The one that was bad was browning which was disappointing

Fish is really fresh and great.
People working for Yama are so friendly and kind.

The packaging and customer service are amazing—arguably the best online for a retailer. (Fixed-- They just brush you off when they messed up)

However, the Omakase box was disappointing, as it was mostly filled with lower-grade (Level C) fish.

When I fileted them, the texture was cloudy and mushy. My family has been in the sushi business since my great-grandmother (from Osaka); I have been training for nearly 10 years, so there is no misunderstanding regarding quality.I had my father double checked for me as well, and he's been sushi chef for 30 years.
It would be much better to reduce the quantity and prioritize higher-quality selections instead.
However, I haven't check the toro and kuruma ebi yet, hope the experience would be better than this.

Yama Seafood never disapoints. Their fish and shellfish are simply outstanding. I used to buy exclusively from another online seafood retailer until I discovered Yama. You simply cannot go wrong with Yama.

I was truly grateful on the thawing instructions for the O-toro. By essentially dry aging it for 24 hours it really elevated the experience.

I recently ordered a selection of premium items from Yama Sushi, including unagi kabayaki, Kaluga caviar, salmon toro sashimi, ikura, bluefin chu-toro, and Maine uni, and overall the experience was excellent.

The standout for me was the uni — exceptionally fresh, sweet, and with a perfect texture. Truly top quality. The ikura was also impressive; unlike many that tend to be overly salty, these were well-balanced and clearly high grade. The salmon was another highlight. I actually compared it side-by-side with a similar cut from another provider, and the Yama Sushi version was the clear favorite among my guests. Finally, the bluefin chu-toro was exactly what you hope for — rich, clean, and perfect.

Overall, the quality across the board was consistently high, and this was one of the better premium seafood orders I’ve had. I would definitely order from Yama Sushi again.

Yama seafood has provided our family with pristine, beautiful fish for years. The fish is delivered, expertly packaged, filets flash frozen or fresh as preferred. They are also able to custom orders. Recent orders of Sea Bass, Ora King, and Arctic Char are absolutely delicious, superior to anything we could purchase locally. Definitely life changing for our family.
