Honestly one of the worst online shopping experiences I’ve had. The wetsuit came damaged, and their return process felt intentionally difficult. They didn’t communicate clearly about refunds, and getting any response took multiple attempts. Save yourself the headache and shop elsewhere.
Terrible experience
Terrible experience. I wish I read these reviews before buying. The wetsuit arrived damaged, and the return process was a nightmare. Their policies are ridiculously strict and clearly designed to avoid issuing refunds. On top of that, there was zero communication about my refund status (I had to keep following up with no real answers). For a company selling premium gear, the customer service is unacceptable. I wouldn’t recommend ordering from them.
Awful Product, Even worse Company
Wetsuit was delivered damaged and ripped. It was returned promptly. Xterra made me pay the shipping to send their damaged product back to them stating they do not cover shipping to “keep their wetsuits affordable” as if a $20 shipping cost would dramatically increase the price of their wersuit. Xterra received the return and then did not communicate for 2 weeks with me about my return despite being told i would have a return in 5-7 business days. To top if off, they are now refusing to issue a return, citing the reason that the wetsuit was damaged by me which is completely false. I did not put on the wetsuit so how could I have damaged the suit? The customer service team was absolutely no help and kept stating different rules for their return/refund policy. I dealt with 3 different representatives, each one more unprofessional and inept that the previous. Despicable company. I would highly advise to select a different company for your triathalon training needs.
STAY AWAY!
STAY AWAY!! Terrible customer service!! I am trying to cancel an order before it ships and whether you email or call, nobody ever answer!! So now they're telling me order has shipped and I'm gonna have to return the wetsuit when it arrives + they are charging a 10% restocking fee!! Also reading from other reviews that people never ever got reimbursed!! Really??!! I won't let them go away with my money!! I will escalate to my bank an open a case if I do not get my money back!! They simply will not refund my money, even though I met each detail in their exhaustive requirements. Horrible experience with them. DO NOT BUY!!
Bad Quality and Support
I purchased a wetsuit from XTERRA on June 3, 2025, expecting quality and durability from a brand that markets itself to serious athletes. After just a few normal swims, one of the seams came apart, making the wetsuit unusable for its intended purpose.
When I contacted XTERRA under their warranty, they denied coverage, claiming “excessive force” — which is simply not true. The rest of the suit is intact, and there is no other damage. This was a clear failure of construction.
A wetsuit should withstand basic use in the water without falling apart. Denying warranty for such a failure is unacceptable and shows a lack of responsibility toward customers who trust their products.
Athletes rely on gear for performance and safety. Unfortunately, XTERRA did not stand behind their product, and I cannot recommend them to others.
Falling apart within 6 months
I bought a full wetsuit and within 6 months it is falling apart. I've worn it 2x a week and have meticulously taken care of it. I contacted their repair email and their general email and tried through social media but have not heard one peep from them. I bought from them because I am from San Diego and wanted to support a local company but this is ridiculous. So disappointed and I will be telling others in the SD tri/swim community not to buy from them.
I wish I could rate it a zero
I wish I could rate it a zero. Ordered wetsuit on 3/11 with expedited shipping. A ups label was created that day, even though they had no intention of shipping the product. 20 days later, ups still has not received the package for shipping. I requested a refund and never received a response. I filed a case with PayPal to receive a refund, and of course Xterra waited until the last day to respond and that response was just an ups tracking link from 3/11. But since it was a response, I now have to wait 10 more days for PayPal resolution. If you check around on Reddit and review sites, you will find that Xterra has a common business practice of taking customers’ money, not fulfilling the order, and waiting it out until they’re forced to refund. I would never recommend this company, and honestly their suits aren’t great, but I needed something quick that I knew would fit. Thankfully it turns out that a slightly small wetsuit did not affect my performance :)
NOT LEGIT
Made an order a week ago and they said the product is not available. They stopped answering my emails and is impossible to get through by phone calls.
No refund has been sent, I GOT ROBBED.
XTERRA WETSUITS disintegrate shortly after purchase
Really unimpressed with XTERRA WETSUITS.
I bought their top of the range wetsuit in 2022. After a mere few months of using it, it started to perish. I thought it was just the silver paint and not the structure. After about 13 months from purchase it became clear that it was the actual neoprene that was disintegrating and not just the paint. I contacted their warranty department but had no joy. A year down the line, this premium wetsuit has completely disintegrated and XTERRA WETSUITS will not entertain any warranty claim as I first reported the problem a month after the warranty expired. I had to convert it into a sleeveless wetsuit if i wanted to get any use out of it as the sleeves were ready to fall off.
It gets worse
I recently wrote a negative review for Xterra wetsuits, as I was having no luck getting a refund for a wetsuit and accessories I had returned. I filed a complaint with the BBB, and bingo, Xterra responded right away.
This time, they claimed that the wetsuit I had returned was "damaged" ("had tears in it") and they therefore could not issue a refund.
This was complete nonsense since I repackaged the wetsuit after trying it on one time in my home. It was out of the box for maybe 15 minutes and then refolded as per their instructions and sent back with a cap, gloves, and booties.
Xterra failed to mention the accessories that were returned with the wetsuit (for which they owe a refund), and offered to send back the "damaged" wetsuit with a tube of glue, if I paid them $15.00 for shipping it back to me. Really?
My experience with Xterra has gone from bad to worse. They have really hit rock bottom this time.
Tight but good
Based on the reviews, I chose a suit from the lower end of the size range, and though it felt quite snug at first, it now fits perfectly. It seems these suits are designed to be rather tight. Overall, I'm extremely pleased; the price was fair, and the suit still appears brand new after three one-hour swims.
over 20 days delayed
It took them 20 days to start the process of sending my product. I still haven’t received it, but at least I can now see the delivery company has finally gotten the package.
They have been impossible to get a hold of, and they have only replied to one of my 5 different emails to them. Their reply was completely useless, and didn’t provide any information at all.
Edit: I have now received my wetsuit. The wetsuit is fine, but because the customer service is the worst I have ever experienced, I’m maintaining my 1 star review.
Never refunded me for a return
1. Shipping costs $30
2. For returns, they don’t provide a return label, only a return slip.
3. I returned a wetsuit (had ordered 2 sizes) with tracking and they never refunded me and they ignored all my emails showing that the wetsuit had arrived at their returns department. I had to dispute the charge with my credit card company.
4. Their wetsuits are terrible compared to blueseventy. Super stiff and uncomfortable to swim in.
Company sent the wrong size and when i…
Company sent the wrong size and when i emailed them they were quick to respond telling me to buy the right size to get it in time for the triathlon and then return the other one for a refund. I did what they said and followed the tracking to where they recieved the wetsuit. I waited ten days before i contacted them about a refund and they have yet to respond to any emails. I have called and you can only get a voicemail telling you to email the company. I have now emailed them 4 times and get no response. Have been super patient and polite but 174.00 is a lot of money for not being able to speak to someone. I know refunds take time but 20 days is a bit excessive especially not being able to comunicate with somone. I would not recommend ever using this company
Great products, poor service
Xterra wetsuits are high quality but their size guide is incomplete and their customer service is poor. I ordered a medium sleeveless wetsuit on Black Friday as a Christmas present for myself. When I tried it on it was too tight, so much so that I could not breath. I contacted customer support and they acknowledged that a person with a long torso and short legs should order a large even though this was not mentioned in their size guide. I paid $ 20 shipping to return it in January and they did not even acknowledge the return for over a month. After several unanswered queries to customer support, I contacted the CEO on LinkedIn and only then did they acknowledge my return but they said it was too late to exchange and I could have a $ 50 credit or pay $ 15 to ship the one that doesn’t fit back to me. I decided for the latter in the hopes that I can sell the tight wetsuit for more than $ 50. That original wetsuit arrived at my house in March. A 3 month saga. I have not experienced such poor customer service before. Anyone want a medium-small sleeveless wetsuit?
Do not order a wetsuit from this…
Do not order a wetsuit from this company, you will not be refunded if it doesn’t fit.
You can send it back according to their policy but they will not refund or return an email to request where your refund is. There is a phone number but it only tells you to send them an email. Terrible business
Xterra products
I bought this wetsuit for my wife for Christmas and we selected the small size(one size larger than the recommended size chart and also one size larger than one other xterra full wetsuit that fit properly on her.) Unfortunately we believe the vivid wetsuit was incorrectly labeled because it was too tight, even though it was one size larger. To return the item that is incorrectly labeled/sized, we have to pay shipping fees for their mistake(50% of the price of the item.)
We wont be buying directly as the return is so costly for their mistake. A ruined christmas gift for my wife......
Avoid.
2nd wetsuit purchase. Coming apart at the seams after 2 wears. Completely ignoring all emails and contact to customer service channels. Avoid.
