It drizzles and our power goes out. We live in Minneapolis mn, in the heart of the city, there is no reason this should happen. Our power goes out AT LEAST 4-5 times a month a summer. It’s out for AT LEAST 8+ hours at a time. My power was more reliable when I lived three hours into the boonies in northern mn. Excel is trash and I wish a new company would come to mn.
Excel installed a"smart meter" on my…
Excel installed a"smart meter" on my shop that has solar panels. After installing it my system quit producing. When I called they said they would look into it and call back. No call back. I called and was told it was under review and would hear back in a couple days. Nothing. Called my solar company and got it running again but still not getting credit for my production. My bill went from $30 to over $500. Called again and still told me they have to look into it.
customer service does not exist
customer service does not exist! I've been waiting and calling back for a call from someone in the company for months now.
pretty disgusting when your power was turned off for a few days in the summer because of xcel. instead of charging me 150 dollars they charge me fifteen hundred!!! when I wanted my money back it took over a month, with random money being put in and out of my account. finally for the last week I had fifteen hundred dollars of their money. luckily my card is finally working again because ontop of loosing everything in my fridge and freezer, I had no debit card for about a month. this company is an absolute joke, and should probably stop trying. I will not recommend them to anybody and have been trying to switch people. nobody should have to deal with a company this awful.
Unauthorized installation of a Smart Meter
Xcel sent me an email stating that they were going to change my meter to a smart meter in about one month. Expecting to have them contact me, I waited but didn't hear from them at all! Then out of the clear blue I get an email stating that they changed my meter to a smart meter with no notice to me at all!!! I have two no trespassing signs on the front of my house and at the back on the fence where you enter for access to the meter! So they entered my property like a thief in the night, (UNANNOUNCED) took it upon themselves to change my meter, (NO DOOR TAG THAT THEY WERE THEIR) The only way I knew was that they sent me an email that they were there!!!! Then when I contacted them they tried to fast talk me into believing that because they own the equipment that they have the right to enter my property!! They jerked me around for almost a month, I fought them tooth and nail to get it removed!!! They stalled me, lied to me that they didn't have a meter like the one they removed!!! My gate is now locked 24/7 and if they enter my property without notifying me I will call the police and will prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law. They are a bunch of weasels and are trying to pass these smart meters off to save you money, so guess what they double your bill instead!!!! All the consumers need to do a class action suit against these ripoffs!!!!

Xcel energy provided electricity to my restaurant in Minnesota. Two months after the business closed, the electrical bill remained the same despite absence of operation and equipment. On top of that Xcel energy charged a random number of kilo watts - in my case 22 KW at the rate of $10.85 per KW; thus, adding $250 per month to my bill. Xcel energy called that "peak winter". When I called customer service to complaint a manager said "we didn't know the business was closed"! Xcel energy bills cunsomer 2-month late in order to avoid verification of meter reading, and to promolgate fraudulent billing
Horrific Customer Service
I have lived in several places in the US and Xcel Energy takes the cake for the worst customer service in the industry (and many other industries for that matter). I recently moved to a city serviced by Xcel and each time I call their customer service line to discuss an issue I am having, I get a rude person who clearly does not like their job. In addition, I get a different answer to my question which, when I try to act on, is the incorrect answer. It's maddening and, since it is a "monopoly," there's nothing I can do.
Dealing with Xcel has been a breath of fresh air, their customer service is first rate
The transfer process could not have been easier. Xcel offer fantastic prices and a great service. We get to deal with a named contact who can even be reached on the phone.

I have recently built a new house. Of the three utilities 1 Gas was quite outstanding, they kept me informed throughout and the total cost for connection was by all standards extremely low. All in all a very good experience.

Great Speedy Service start to finish
Great service from 1 Gas, quick to quote, excellent email communications, swift service on a new gas connection to the main. Came Friday to fit pipe and by Monday the meter was in and running, can't fault them, just brilliant.

courteous, efficient and value for money
Being a novice at this type of thing, I was a bit apprehensive. The staff were particularly helpful , efficient and knowledgeable. The gas main was fitted on schedule and wtih minimal disturbance. I would happily recommend this company tp anyone.
