In June 2025, my husband suffered a serious accident in Barcelona.

In June 2025, my husband suffered a serious accident in Barcelona, rupturing both quadriceps tendons and requiring urgent bilateral surgery to avoid permanent disability. I contacted Zurich's emergency assistance partner, World Travel Protection (WTP), before surgery to seek guidance and authorisation — they did not return my call for three days, by which time surgery had already taken place. Left without any guidance, repatriation offer, or authorisation decision from Zurich or WTP, my husband underwent medically necessary surgery in Barcelona. We paid an upfront €65,000 hospital deposit out of our own savings and credit cards. WTP then told us Zurich would pay the hospital directly and to seek a refund of our deposit once a guarantee of payment was issued — but that guarantee was never provided. After months of poor communication and repeated requests for documents, Zurich reimbursed only one third, capping our claim at the cost of a hypothetical air ambulance that was never once offered or arranged in real time. We are now pursuing the Financial Ombudsman Service, with little hope given they have a TrustPilot rating of 1.3. I would not wish this experience on anyone — at the moment we needed our insurer most, they were absent.

Just ghosted completely

The policies might be inexpensive but it’s because they clearly never intend to follow through on them. I bought a travel policy for my trip to Thailand and spent a measly $200 USD about. Opened a claim and got a basically auto response back. I’ve followed up numerous times and radio silence. Never purchasing again. It’s a genuine scam.

Day light robbery!!!

If I would have an option other than one star, I would have gone for that. My advisor Santhosh from Abu Dhabi is a biggest scammer, I joined the insurance and paid for 14 months and I lost my job to recession. My advisor advised me to pay for remaining 8 more months to complete 2 years so I would able to get back the amount. I trusted his words and paid the remaining and now I’m 5 years from then no money nor response from the advisors. I lost all my hard earned money to Zurich. I recommend everyone… NEVER EVER TRUST ZURICH OR ITS ADVISORS,

I don’t know what was more painful

I don’t know what was more painful, the hip fracture my father-in-law sustained while on holiday in the Netherlands or having to deal with World Travel Protection, owned/run by Zuric.
It’s been four months since the accident and despite hundreds of emails and phone calls and assurances that everything had been taken care of and settled with the hospital it appears that not a single payment has been made. Every time I call them I’m told that it’s all been settled or the payment is being processed. This seems to be a deliberate tactic to avoid payouts and now my elderly father-in-law who os already dealing with a traumatic event has to contend with this.
It’s absolutely shocking how this company treats customers, failing to take responsibility, take appropriate action or even communicate.
Avoid at all costs.

Give them your money at your peril!

It would be easier to get a T-bone steak off a rottweiler than it is to get your money back from this dreadful company.
I opened a bond with them 16 years ago. Each year, I draw some money out of it.
They make it as difficult as possible. First, they ignore the request for a couple of weeks. Then they start asking dumb questions such as "What is the policy number?" It is literally the first thing written on the form! Then they start ignoring answers, then they start asking for proof of address despite being given proof every year when it hasn't changed.
Then they just go silent.
Eventually, you have to try to phone them. This takes forever, because they leave you on hold, and costs a lot if you only have a mobile phone because calls to the IoM are expensive.
As they are cunningly based in the IoM you have no recourse to the UK Financial regulator, so they can get away with any shady dealings.
They also hide behind a multitude of companies, so I have no doubt they will reply to this review saying I have the wrong "arm" of Zurich.
Give them your money at your peril!

UPDATE: It's now 38 days since I asked Zurich - IOM to give me MY money back and still they ignore me. One hesitates to use the word "fraud" but it's increasingly difficult. I've now involved the IoM Ombudsman.
Imagine insuring your car with Zurich Insurance UK and trying to make a claim if they behave like their sister company in the IoM.

Its about a correction of a document I rang and asked how to complete and if anything else needed. Also any person reading this should check their financial performance of pensions over lat 20 years

PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS

Please learn from my huge mistake and do not sign up this company's shameless Vista savings policy.

I temporarily stopped paying monthly installments (as the Contract allows for a period of 36 months). After the 36 month period they do not make contact with me and deducted 75% of the total value of the policy as a 'dormancy charge' (USD 19K).

The totally unfair scale of this dormancy charge (75%) is not stipulated in the terms an conditions - if it was I am sure people would not sign up. They have just made up the 75% charge. This is day-light robbery and I intend to do all I can to ensure others are not conned out of their savings as I have.

Please avoid Zurich International at all costs.

Feel free to contact me on here if you require more information on my situation.

Atrociously poor administration

Atrociously poor administration. My wife and I often send in withdrawal requests around the same time. Usually one gets ignored/forgotten/lost. After more than two weeks they are 'pleased to advise" me that they have only just done anything.

65% cancellation penalty on Zurich Vista

I signed up for the Zurich Vista policy a few years ago and soon after the policy started I realized the cost were absolute excessive. If I however now want to cancel they want to charge me a penalty of 65% (!) of my policy value. Neither of this was mentioned when I signed up.

I gave Zurich the opportunity to look at my complaints and to change me to another plan but they were not interested.

I have filed a case with the Dubai insurance authorities counting a total of 23 violations against the local regulations and I hope they will make a judgement soon.

This review is meant to inform and protect other consumers, promoting a transparent economy in the UAE and globally. It is not meant to demean Zurich or any of its employees.

Not recommended at all

They (Zurich International Life in the Isle of Man) delayed by all the pretexts the payment of my policy, at its maturity, And finally, almost a year later, they paid the policy applying a change USD-EUR very inconvenient for the consumer.
Only point in their favour: they answered (even though showing unreasonable and inflexible behaviour) almost all my emails.
