Yorkshire water - Lies & more lies

So Yorkshire water is rolling out a digital meter scheme which allows them to take telemetry readings from your meter 24 hours per day 7 days per week. This is rolled out under the impression it is there to assist the customer as well as the company to detect over usage associated with a leak, therefore saving water. The website says if you do not wish to have the meter to be used in this way you can contact them and ask it to be turned off and made what is known as a “dumb meter” I made this request which got denied, I asked for my old still serviceable & working meter to be refitted again this was denied. Finally I asked what the law states in relation to me buying & installing my own approved meter which they said was not allowed and would be referred to there legal team & “possibly” court. So do not trust Yorkshire Water when you read there glossy brochures or bullshit on there website. I asked if this new rollout was to implement a new variable tariff payment the customer advisor could not say whether it would or would not be used for different aspects of the billing process at a later date but nothing was being discussed at the moment. Remember they do not fix leaks which lose thousands of litres per hour / day straight away, they still put sewage into your local stream, river & sea and pay massive fines each year for doing so, they pay there senior boss £100,000 per month ( including shady bonuses from a parent company) when our bills are increasing by a whopping 35%. The real reason leaks do not get repaired quickly, sewage is getting pumped raw into your rivers and after a 7 week sunny period they are calling for drought measures is because they have not used your bill money in long term investments like building a few new collection reservoirs or new state of the art sewage treatment plans with waste incinerators but merely paid high dividends to the share holders and paid out millions in bonuses to the big wigs.

Ref X029099 Lead Replacement

Ref X029099 Lead Replacement
Spent the best part of an hour today speaking to billing and developer services to explain why I have cancelled my direct debit. I have now missed ONE payment and Yorkshire Water have emailed and texted to this effect. It is noteworthy that they are so quick to respond when payment has not been received. I have been repeatedly contacting YW for 6 months now with reference to the clicking meter that has persisted under low usage conditions following the replacement of the comms pipe and meter chamber on 2/2/26. The clicking noise translates to a repetitive banging that carries on after flushing the toilet and the cistern has finished filling or when the hot water header tank has been in use. The work to replace the lead pipe on my property had been completed successfully by a private contractor back in August 2025 without issue. Billing Dept's helpful suggestion? ... To advise that non payment might affect my credit rating.
The service has been substandard todate and YW seem incapable of progressing this matter.
Complaint X372302 and LNSS-DVVHJT9 refer.

Incompetence at its very worst

I reported a leak after receiving a huge water bill on 17/7/2026. Since this time I have spent hours of my time on 6 calls attempting contacting Yorkshire Water to resolve this issue even sending them a video of the issue. I am still no further on even after making three further calls today and hearing back from M. Group the contractor who complete the repair work for Yorkshire Water to state the they cannot say whether they will be coming due to Yorkshire Water sending the wrong job No.! The incompetence beggars belief! And apparently we’re facing a drought ?

Six teams to fix a leaking pavement water meter!

How many teams of workmen does it take to fix a leaking pavement water meter - SIX !
1. Day 1 (Sunday) - first team dig out and repair meter leaving a heap of spoil surrounded by a barrier and more road closure signs than your typical motorway lane closure.
2. Day 3 - Yorkshire Water van turns up, driver opens side of van to reveal a pullout shelf with laptop on it. He spends 5 minutes inspecting work and 10 minutes typing his findings before driving off.
3. Day 4 - Van towing a trailer with mini-digger on it turns up. Team spend less than 5 minutes examining the hole and spoil heap before driving off.
4. Day 5 - 13 tonne flatbed truck with grab bucket turns up. Team spends 10 minutes filling and compacting the hole to just below tarmac surface level before removing one grab bucket of leftover spoil and driving off.
5. Day 8 (Sunday) - team turns up to lay tarmac top surface and remove all the signs.
6. Day 9 - truck with powerwash unit on it turns up to washdown path and road surface of the water based staining caused by leak and repair. A decent rain shower would have done just as good a job.
Job Done!!
Now I know why Yorkshire Water keep increasing our bills so much year after year.

NO RESPONSE !!! I HAVE ONE NOW, THANK YOU M GROUP WATER

NO RESPONSE !!!

I run a hairdressing salon in Leeds and have been notified of mains water works to be undertaken by a 'mason team' on 5th of August which means a loss of water to my premises. This is the third date of these works to be undertaken. I appreciate they are essential works but not an emergency.
I have 210 litres of water in reserve but need mains pressure to use it. I have already explained that being in a basement means there is not enough height for a cistern feed to use the reserves.

On !6th July 2026 I was contacted to say these works would be undertaken on 5th August 2026 'Out of hours'. It is recorded that our trading hours are from ) 04.45-20.00 hours and that chemical treatments on clients hair require flowing water to remove and prevent harm and damage. I have asked for the 'out of hours' times that the works are to be undertaken but never receive an answer. It is a danger to clients to NOT be able to remove the chemicals from a clients hair, so i now need to write this to date my concern as further proof and disclaimer of harm to clients and an answer for my request as to the timings, as my previous verbal and text requests have not been addressed albeit they have been recorded

A letter arrived today stating shut down times for the works, Thank you M GROUP water
