Rubbish

Rubbish, didn’t send me my kaffir tree despite pretending they would. Would not recommend them

I'm very sorry that you didn't receive your kaffir lime tree, particularly as it appears you were told that it would be sent.

I'd really like to investigate what happened here. If we promised to send a tree and failed to do so, that's something I want to put right.

We've recently discovered a serious intermittent technical problem with our website's contact form. Some customer messages were reaching us normally, while others appear never to have arrived, despite the form confirming they had been sent. Because we continued receiving enquiries, we were unaware that some customers were trying to contact us without success.

I don't know whether this affected your correspondence, but I want to reassure you that any failure to respond was not deliberate.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to identify your order from your review alone. Could you please provide your order details privately through Trustpilot or contact me directly using the email address now displayed on our website?

I'd very much like to establish what happened, and if your tree was never supplied, arrange an appropriate resolution.

I'm genuinely sorry for your disappointment and would appreciate the opportunity to put things right.

Poor experience - Dead plants and no customer support.

Order took an age to arrive (April/May 2025), and when it did all the plants were dead. I contacted Support several time to get new plants or a refund from and didn't receive the courtesy of a response. I won't see that £11 ever again!

Poor customer service which ruins a company that used to be so reliable.

I will not use them again and urge people to avoid.

I'm so sorry to read this, particularly as you've been a customer before and clearly had much better experiences with us in the past.

Receiving plants that have died in transit is disappointing enough, but to then contact us repeatedly without receiving a response is simply unacceptable. I completely understand why you've lost confidence in World of Chillies.

We've recently discovered a serious intermittent technical problem with the contact form on our website. Some customer messages were reaching us normally, while others appear never to have arrived, despite the form confirming they had been sent. Because we continued receiving enquiries, we were completely unaware that some customers were trying to contact us without success.

We've also discovered photographs uploaded through the form that remained on our server, even though some associated messages appear not to have reached our mailbox. We're now investigating this problem and trying to identify customers whose complaints may have been lost.

I can't say for certain whether this is what happened to your messages, but I want to reassure you that your complaint was not deliberately ignored. Nevertheless, the responsibility is ours, and I'm genuinely sorry.

I'd very much like to identify your order from April or May 2025 and arrange a refund for the £11 you spent if the plants arrived dead and the matter remains unresolved.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to identify your order from your review alone. Could you please provide your details privately through Trustpilot or contact me directly using the email address now displayed on our website?

I know this happened some time ago, and I completely understand why you've given up on us. But I'd really appreciate the opportunity to put things right, even now.

I don't know whether this affected your attempts to reach us, but I sincerely apologise if it did. Nobody should be left wondering what's happened to an order they've paid for, without being able to get an answer.

Victim of their own success

Like many great small companies, as their reputation spreads, they struggle to maintain the standards customers come to expect. This was a terrific company — I've used them for many years. The service was personal, the products were great. But they’ve clearly struggled to scale. Quality has fallen, and customer service is now nonexistent.
Don’t get me wrong — if you receive what you ordered, you’re probably on to a good thing. But if there are any issues, you’re stuffed.
The only contact channel is a webform, and responses are nonexistent. Any sense of personal service or commitment to customer satisfaction has vanished. Don’t let the “lady next door” persona fool you — this has become a faceless organisation focused on shifting volume.
I’ve now submitted three queries this season about a rogue plant. I have no idea what it is, but now that it’s fruiting, I know it’s not what I ordered or what was advertised. It should be a ‘gold’ chilli, but it’s red. It should have a certain heat and flavour — it’s completely tasteless. That suggests either poor seed quality at source or a mislabelled plant. Either way, it raises serious quality control concerns.
At a minimum, I’d have appreciated an acknowledgement. Realistically, I’d like compensation for a season spent growing a luscious chilli that turned out to be nothing more than ornamental. Hard to understand how this can be classified as a “chef’s favourite.”
Sarah — if you’re reading this, it’s time to take a step back and smell the capsaicin. The message is clear: loyal customers who supported your growth are dropping like flies, and your NPS is rotting in the compost heap. Refocus on customer service. Sort out your product quality. Then maybe you can reclaim your place as the UK’s go-to premium chilli supplier.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a thoughtful review, even though it makes for painful reading. And thank you for supporting World of Chillies over so many years.

I think what upsets me most is that you've come to feel we've lost the personal touch that made you want to buy from us in the first place.

I can assure you that World of Chillies is still very much the small, family-run nursery it has always been. I'm still here, growing the plants, choosing the varieties and taking enormous pleasure in seeing what our customers grow. The enthusiasm you remember is absolutely genuine, and that hasn't changed.

But something has gone badly wrong with our customer communications, and we've only recently begun to understand what happened.

We've discovered a serious intermittent technical problem with the contact form on our website. Some customer enquiries were reaching us normally, while others appear never to have arrived, despite the form confirming they had been sent. Because messages continued coming through, we were completely unaware that some customers were repeatedly trying to contact us without success.

We've even discovered photographs uploaded by customers that remained on our server, although their accompanying enquiries may never have reached us.

I can't say for certain whether your three messages were affected, but I now understand why so many customers have felt ignored. It's genuinely upsetting to discover this, and I'm very sorry.

As for your chilli plant, I'd really like to establish what went wrong. A variety producing completely different fruit from what was advertised is understandably disappointing, particularly after you've spent an entire season growing it. Whether this was a labelling mistake or a problem further back in the growing process, it's something I take seriously.

I'd very much like to identify your order, see photographs of the plant and arrange an appropriate resolution. Please contact me directly using the email address now displayed on our website's contact page, or provide your details privately through Trustpilot.

You're absolutely right about one thing: a good plant is only half the story. Customers need to know that if something goes wrong, we'll be there to put it right.

I haven't forgotten that, but it's clear that we've fallen short, and I'm determined to do better.

Thank you again for your years of support, and for caring enough about World of Chillies to tell me where you think we've gone wrong.

Terrible customer service

I ordered a lot of seeds and plugs from world of chillies. most of seeds never germinated and the plugs died. (i have had an allotment and have been growing for over 10 years). I contacted company numerous times on their contact forms. I provided pictures like they asked. They have never returned a response!, even though I got a response email, saying they have received my email/contact and someone will be replying shortly, which never happened.
I will be taking my business elsewhere where from now on.

I'm so sorry to read this, particularly as you're an experienced grower who clearly knows how to look after young plants and raise chillies from seed.

I'm concerned that so many of your seeds failed to germinate and that your plug plants subsequently died. I'd really like to investigate what happened, because neither is the experience we want our customers to have.

But what troubles me even more is that you went to the effort of contacting us repeatedly, supplying photographs as requested, and received no response beyond an automatic acknowledgement. I completely understand why you feel so badly let down.

We've since discovered photographs uploaded by customers that remained on our server, although their accompanying messages may never have reached our mailbox. It's quite possible that your photographs were among them.

This was a genuine, unintentional technical failure, but I fully accept that the responsibility is ours. You shouldn't have been left wondering whether anyone had even looked at your complaint, and I'm sincerely sorry.

I'd very much like to identify your order, investigate the problems with both the seeds and plugs, and arrange a fair resolution. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to identify your order from your review alone.

Very disappointing experience

Ordered 9 chilli plugs. Had 1 missed delivery, this company do not send a dispatch notice or tracking information I contacted them & they shipped again also no shipping information was sent.
Received my order yesterday, on receipt 2 of the plants were crushed & snapped another 2 looked very wilted. So today 4 of the plants are already pretty much dead, the packaging was really not good its thin plastic holding the plants packed in a plastic bag so I guess they have a lot of damaged plants.
I have not bothered to contact them, I will write this off as a bad experience & go & buy some large plants from the garden center.
I should have read the Trust Pilot reviews before buying.....

I'm very sorry that your plants arrived in such poor condition, particularly after you'd already experienced problems with the original delivery. Having to wait for a second shipment, only to find several plants damaged or dying, must have been enormously frustrating.

I'm particularly concerned that four of your nine plants were apparently beyond saving. We take considerable care growing our plugs, but that care needs to extend to making sure they arrive safely. If the packaging failed to protect them adequately, that's something we need to take responsibility for.

I'm also sorry that you didn't receive the dispatch information you needed. When you're waiting for live plants, knowing when they're due to arrive is especially important, and I understand why the lack of tracking information added to your frustration.

I notice that you decided not to contact us about the damaged plants, partly because of the experiences described by other customers. I completely understand that decision, but I'd really appreciate the opportunity to put things right.

Although this technical problem didn't affect your own complaint directly, it may help explain some of the unanswered enquiries you've read about. We're now investigating the fault and have made a direct email address available on our contact page.

I'd very much like to identify your order, look into what happened with both deliveries and arrange an appropriate refund for the damaged plants. Could you please provide your order details privately through Trustpilot or contact me directly using the email address on our website?

I'm genuinely sorry that your experience of World of Chillies was so disappointing, and particularly that our reputation for poor communication discouraged you from giving us the chance to help.

Wow incredible experience, healthy plants

Wow incredible experience. Sarah is very helpful and kind. Quick to message, I bought via Ebay and the feedback she has recieved is a*!
People need to give small veg growers a chance at this time of year. There is so much to do, upkeep, posting packing keeping up with emails. If only more people left good feedback instead of only negative.
Everybody makes mistakes!
This is a company that really goes above, I recieved a lovely guide book and some plant food. You wouldn't get this service from suttons etc!
Very healthy plants,very happy customer.

No delivery, no response to e-mails

Ordered chilli plug plants on the 18th May. Payment taken. E-mailed 23 May to ask where the dispatch was. 10 days later no response. Like many on here I have been a regular customer of World of Chillies over the past 6 or 7 years so am really sad that they have now descended to this. Like everyone here I have put a chargeback request into my card company. A real shame as until now they have been excellent.

I'm so sorry to read this, particularly as you've been a loyal customer for six or seven years and have clearly had much better experiences with us in the past. It's especially upsetting to know that we've lost the confidence of someone who has supported World of Chillies for so long.

I completely understand your frustration. You placed an order, paid for your plants, and when they hadn't arrived, you contacted us for an explanation. Ten days without a reply is simply not acceptable.

Like most I have been using this…

Like most I have been using this company for many years. My order which was placed in november did arrive in March. Unfortunately there was 1 that was damaged. Not a problem as Sarah said she would send another. Nothing arrived and I have emailed multiple times with no response. Just wanted to know if I was going to get a replacement plus some extras I wanted to order. Around 4 times I have emailed allowing a week or 2 inbetween. Nothing back. The customer service is shocking this year. I like many won't use them again.

I'm so sorry to read this, particularly as you've been buying from World of Chillies for many years and have clearly been happy with us in the past.

What makes this especially disappointing is that we'd already acknowledged the damaged plant and promised to replace it. You were perfectly entitled to expect that replacement, and you certainly shouldn't have had to chase us four times simply to find out what was happening.

One star is too much

One star is too much! I've used this company over the last few years and they have been great. Not sure what has changed this year, but it's been a completely different experience. Pre-ordered my chillies in October. Expected them to arrive end of March as usual. Gave a couple of weeks grace into April, then started trying to contact the company. 2 emails were ignored, used the online form and got a response apologising and said they'd send them out with extras. Nothing! Another couple of emails and another online form and still nothing. No chillies, no further apology and no offer of reimbursement.

If they can't fulfill the order, they should just say and reimburse. Everyone knows that plants fail and if they are having a bad season, then be honest. Ghosting customers just sucks!

I completely understand your frustration. You placed your order in October, waited patiently until April, and then had to chase us repeatedly. Worse still, we eventually replied, apologised and promised to send your plants with some extras, but apparently failed to follow through. That's simply not good enough, and I'm genuinely sorry.

Don't part with your money

Been ordering from worldofchillies for years and always been great service, healthy plants etc. What has gone wrong? paid over Christmas as usual for my plants due to arrive in March. It is May tomorrow, nothing from them except constant emails offering me to buy chillies of the week? I have emailed several times and tried the Facebook page but I've been ghosted. They have basically robbed me of over £50.

Previously greatly impressed by the service and quality of product. Always excited to read river an email and learn more about chillies. This year my order had not shown up. I contacted the business and received an apology and was promised a replacement. No replacement received and all further attempts made to contact have not received any response.

I'm so sorry to read this, particularly as you've been a customer before and have always been pleased with both our plants and our service. It's especially disappointing to know that we've let down someone who previously enjoyed hearing from us and learning more about chillies.

I completely understand your frustration. Your original order didn't arrive, you contacted us and received an apology and a promise that replacement plants would be sent. You were perfectly entitled to expect us to honour that promise, and I'm genuinely sorry that we apparently failed to do so.

We've recently discovered a serious intermittent technical problem with the contact form on our website. Some customer messages were reaching us normally, while others appear never to have arrived, despite the form confirming they had been sent. Because enquiries continued coming through, we were completely unaware that some customers were repeatedly trying to contact us without success.

This may help explain why your subsequent messages went unanswered, but it doesn't explain why your replacement plants weren't sent. That's a separate failure, and one I want to investigate properly.

I'm now working through outstanding complaints and trying to put things right for customers who may have been affected. I'd very much like to identify your order, establish what happened to both the original shipment and the promised replacement, and arrange a full refund if neither was delivered.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to identify your order from your review alone. Could you please provide your details privately through Trustpilot or contact me directly using the email address now displayed on our website?

I'm especially sorry that we've disappointed someone who previously had such a positive experience of World of Chillies. I hope you'll give me the opportunity to resolve this properly, even though I completely understand why you've lost confidence in us.

Fantastic purchase

I subscribed to the World of Chillies a while back and decided I would take the plunge and finally place an order. Firstly, the website has improved, in recent years, and is easy to navigate. Product selection and ordering is also user friendly. The products didn’t take too long to arrive, I’d actually forget about it, so it was a pleasant surprise, plus the addition of a free plug was rather exciting. The plants arrived in a great condition, with a nice little pocket guide, that answered all my questions. If the plugs don’t make it I believe it will be down to my potting mix and plant location. Until my mini greenhouse arrives in a few days - I’ll try to keep them safely away from my 5 cats!! Great customer journey, so based upon my experience, I would highly recommend World of Chillies 👍

Disappointed

I've used this company a couple of times in the past and was very impressed but my last order ( basil plants & markut lime plant) never appeared. Sent 3 emails and have not replied to any of the emails and apparently the phone nos are incorrect. Extremely poor way to treat your customers!! I have now been in touch with my bank for a credit card to be reimbursed.

I'm so sorry to read this, particularly as you've ordered from World of Chillies before and have always been pleased with our plants and service. I completely understand how disappointed and frustrated you must feel.

You ordered basil plants and a makrut lime plant, received nothing, and then tried three times to contact us without getting a reply. To make matters worse, the telephone numbers you found were apparently no longer working. That's a dreadful experience, and I'm genuinely sorry.

We've recently discovered a serious intermittent technical problem with the contact form on our website. Some customer messages were reaching us normally, while others appear never to have arrived, despite the form confirming they had been sent. Because we continued receiving enquiries, we were completely unaware that some customers were repeatedly trying to contact us without success.

I can't say for certain whether this affected your three messages, but it may explain why you received no response. We've also discovered customer photographs and attachments stored on our server without their accompanying enquiries necessarily reaching us.

I'm also sorry about the obsolete telephone numbers. We moved away from Manchester many years ago, but some third-party business directories have continued publishing our old contact details. We're now taking steps to have these removed and have made a direct email address available on our website's contact page.

Of course, none of this explains why your original order wasn't delivered. That's something I want to investigate separately, and I fully accept responsibility for putting it right.

I'd very much like to identify your order, establish what happened to your basil and makrut lime plants, and check whether you've already received reimbursement through your credit card provider. If you haven't, I'd like to arrange an appropriate refund.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to identify your order from your review alone. Could you please provide your order details privately through Trustpilot or contact me directly using the email address now displayed on our website?

I'm genuinely sorry we've let down someone who previously had such a good experience with us. I completely understand why you've lost confidence, but I'd really appreciate the opportunity to make amends.

Recieved my chilli plants they all died within a couple of days. Sent a message to the company using there contact method.i was advised I would get a response within 24 hours. No response. Messaged again 2 weeks later still no response. I will never use again. On the plus side the tomatoes are still alive that came 2 weeks later

I'm so sorry that your chilli plants died within days of arriving, and particularly that you contacted us twice without receiving a reply. I completely understand why you've been left feeling so disappointed.

We've recently uncovered a serious intermittent technical fault with the contact form on our website, which we now believe may have gone undetected for several years. Some customer enquiries were arriving normally, while others appear never to have reached us, despite the form confirming they had been sent.

Because we continued receiving and responding to messages throughout this period, we had no reason to suspect that other enquiries were disappearing. It was only when we began investigating the complaints about unanswered messages that we discovered what was happening, including customer photographs stored on our server without the accompanying emails necessarily reaching us.

I can't say for certain whether your own messages were affected, but I'm genuinely sorry that you received no response. This was not a deliberate decision to ignore your complaint, although I fully accept that maintaining a reliable contact system is our responsibility.

I'm also concerned that your chilli plants died so quickly, particularly as your tomato plants appear to have survived. I'd really like to investigate what happened and arrange an appropriate resolution.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to identify your order from your review alone. Could you please provide your details privately through Trustpilot or contact me directly using the email address now displayed on our website?

I'm sincerely sorry for your experience and would very much appreciate the opportunity to put things right.
