Who actually came up with the outlandish rating that Wix is user-friendly and child's play??? It's practically impossible to create a website without a tutorial; there are too many levels, too many options. Sure, you can do a lot, but much of it is very hidden, and the terminology is sometimes unclear. I have no idea how people think it's intuitive. The AI, Aria, helps a little, especially with the basic steps. When it comes to design suggestions, I personally couldn't do anything with them because I had very clear ideas. I was appalled by the suggestions and asked them to be undone immediately. Better to do it yourself. Things get really difficult with Wix when there are technical problems. For example, I couldn't drag the cursor down on the mobile version of the page. Probably because the footer was stuck right there. I was directed to some menu that didn't exist, and Aria kept giving the same instruction: drag the cursor down. Haha. I didn't get anywhere with the chat either, presumably also AI-powered. Although I constantly need to expand my site, I've given up. Especially with many images in different formats, I constantly had to readjust the mobile version because the formats kept being standardized. Chap GTP, not Aria, then explained to me how I could adjust the images using the "fit" setting. Sorry, but as a semi-layman, you're really stuck. If you're an IT professional, it's certainly easier, but for someone like me, who "only" maintained websites with two different systems, it's sometimes too complicated. I'm not impressed with Wix, definitely not.

I signed up for a free trial, new to creating websites and wasn’t sure who to use. I wasn’t aware my domain would be locked for 60 days and now I’m stuck, and no trial! The templates are clunky, my site loads slow as snails, and their support team is more like a poorly functioning instruction manual. I can’t make members only content, not an option. But if it was I would have to create it all myself with an agent that makes me repeat myself through chat as many times as possible.

I never thought of Wix as an innovative company. I was very wrong. This platform has been incredibly easy to use (intuitive), robust in it's functionality, and very very flexible to fit in with your brand and business needs. Customer support has been helpful too. I like this way more than my prior experiences using Squarespace.
I tried to cancel my subscription with Wix two days before the money-back guarantee expired because I found out that the yearly renewal rate was over $500 per year. The price was showing $249 when I purchased it, and I didn't see the renewal price. It is extremely difficult to cancel this product, and when I went to cancel, I was blocked from canceling over a weekend, citing some sort of error with my request. I reached out to them after i PUT IN A REQUEST FOR A CALL BACK ON MONDAY AND THEY SAID I MISSED THE CUTOFF FOR A REFUNS AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO Ecalate my request for a refund. Days went by and when I requested another call, I was hung up on twice, than I i finally got through to someone, I was told it was denied. I went to my banking institution, @USAA, to get my refund. After weeks of the charge being overturned, I was recharged for the site and told that I couldn't appeal the charge. Then, Wix deactivated my account because I sought to get my money back from my bank, so they just stole my $250, and, no money, no site, no recourse. A bunch of connected crooks, stealing your hard-earned money, and the banks won't cross them because they are based overseas (look up where THEY ARE LOCATED and you will understand). READ THE TERMS OF SERVICE VERY CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU SPEND YOUR MONEY ANYWHERE THESE DAYS, OR YOU WILL BE SURPRISED AT THE OUTCOME IF SOMETHING GOES DIFFERENTLY THAN YOU EXPECTED!

As a customer for over eight years, I'm disappointed. The fact that they processed a renewal for my domain and website without my authorization. They processed it over three weeks before cancellation. And when I saw it, I contacted them to tell them I was canceling it. But I was told I could not get a refund until a Review was done, and once the review is done. I may still not get a full refund. How can you charge me so far in advance? But make it so hard for me to get a refund when I didn't want it to be processed in the first place.
I received a reply from Julia, rep of Wix.com, for clarification. The problem is she didn't leave any way to contact her. If you want clarification, let's talk.

DON'T trust them! Suddenly introduced a sizeable fee on a feature that I've embedded in my company workflow, this means I have to choose between continuing to offer my clients payment plans and paying double my annual fee, or removing that functionality and upsetting my clients. At the same time, I'm having a recurring issue whereby Wix keep suspending my payouts of the money my clients have paid. They claim it's due to legislation and security, but no laws have changed, nor has my business name, or my bank account name or my tax status... They are not honest and transparent.

Mine is an unusual case. I run a small eco-lodge as a retirement project. I wanted a website to share info and photos with would-be guests. I did all the work in the website myself using a wixit template even though I had no prior training in Web design whatsoever. I love maintaining and updating the website. It is so user-friendly and fun to work on it. I've had many people complimenting me on the quality of the website too. My sincere thanks to wixit for providing this facility.
It was fine as a start up for our little home business but after we cancelled the subscription, took off all my payment details, got a new credit card, wix still renewed the subscription, on old cc details no less and took $750. I called to complain and they told me i had not cancelled the subscription(which i had). told me to log in(to an account that no longer existed) and delete my details. This had been done some months earlier, hence no longer able to log in and no domain name existed. BUT they still took the money. it took 3 mths for a refund!!! after they deducted the money without any authorisation.

Delivery was well within range. Products were high quality as advertised. I am satisfied with the purchase!
Long story short. Wix is garbage. Short story long: Wix markets itself as a user-friendly website platform, but my experience has been the complete opposite.
The interface feels bloated, generic, and designed more for mass-market templates than for building something truly professional or flexible. Most of the “beautiful” designs are just polished placeholders that quickly fall apart once you try to customize them seriously.
What really pushed me to leave this review, however, was their billing policy.
I forgot to cancel my subscription and contacted support only 1 day after renewal requesting a refund. Despite not using the service and reaching out immediately, they refused to help.
That kind of policy feels predatory. Companies confident in their product and focused on customer satisfaction usually try to retain goodwill — especially over an honest mistake made within 24 hours. Instead, the response felt robotic and transactional: “Got your money, too bad.”
Ironically, experiences like this are what make customers leave permanently.
Wix spends heavily on influencer marketing and social media promotion to appear modern and creator-friendly, but customer support and retention policies tell a very different story.
There are far better platforms out there that respect long-term customers instead of trying to squeeze every possible renewal payment out of them. I hope they go bankrupt. I hope they feel the burn of financial pressure, indefinitely and perpetually.
What is more rubbish is that Wix will reply to my review saying something very generic like asking me reach out to their support, but that is the point I already have and they did nothing about it, so what is the point of Wix writing this, trying to seem like they are on top of things....bull isht : Hello, Thank you for your feedback.

I wrote review about the exhausting and almost criminally bad path to customer service.... This was their response. This what to expect if you run into a snag. Through the myriad of ads for upselling, and their useless AI bot that doesn't function. This, just this. No phone call, no email, just autonomous despondent replies that don't help and just frustrate you futher.

The platform is extremely cumbersome. I have burnt precious time. Their customer service also don't know know how to change things. Save yourselves from this black hole!

Wix bought Inkfrog around 2020. It picked up a solid base of clientele and then proceeded to only do the bare minimum to keep Inkfrog going. At the end of June 2026, they announced they were closing Inkfrog at the end of May 2026; basically a months notice.
This was an unacceptably short notice period. Customers have to find alternate services and get themselves up to speed very quickly. On top of that Inkfrog provided a CSV of data customers could download but no reasonable method to download all the images housed on the Wix / Infrog servers. An absolute nightmare.
If I could zero stars I would. WIX as a company failed its customers and caused extensive costs to many.
I would never use WIX for anything and I recommend you don't either.
----------------
Post note: Wix reply says it all. They left 1000s of customers without ability to download their pictures easily, they made no provision for a reasonable time line to transition. They reference a csv download - Yay - that just has image titles - but no images. If there is a class action being started up, we should all join. This is truly awful.

There’s a reason they have bad reviews, because they’re scammers
I signed up for some “ecom thing” decided I wasn’t interested after 7 days cancelled and thought nothing of it. (30th of march). TODAY 13th of march I get money taken from my account for a service I cancelled over 6 weeks ago!! Who takes money out mid month when the due date was to be set end of month from first payment. So conclusion is they’re a scam stick to Shopify or anyone else.
Update 14/05/2026
I've spoke with WIX support over 15 times now getting the same response - blah blah can't do anything.
I think there is confusion - I do not want a refund for the first payment - that was made that is fine. It is the second fraudulently taken payment from the your scam and charge fraud I requested to be refund. The second payment had I not cancelled would have been taken by my estimation around the end of the April based on it being a monthly charge - yet TWO WEEKS LATER I suddenly have an this charge taken after I've cancelled the service 1 week after signing up initially. I'm not wasting more time speaking to your customer service team who have no clue and are no help whatsoever repeating robotic scripted responses - you might as well use AI support if they aren't already. Customer service is awful, the platform itself is awful (it's like a treasure hunt trying to cancel in the first place - plus you need to complete BOTH tasks to ensure it's done and even then as happened with me - it's not seemingly done). They clearly need my £22 but it's shameful the dishonest way they've gone about claiming it.

DO NOT USE WIX! - They change my billing cycle from monthly to annually, then refused to give me a refund. It's a disgrace the way they are handling this situation.
After weeks of back and forth, they've agreed to give me a refund in 45 business days....
45 BUSINESS DAYS! what a joke.
I have reported them to FCA.
If you are new to web design - hire a web developer and build a Wordpress website. It will rank better on Google anyways.

Your transaction fees for payment on the website is quite high.

I've had 2 Wix sites for about ten years now for my stud and kennels, and not a minute's trouble with either. Thank you Wix!
The Harmony Editor is horrible. when you contact AI it sends you to support. when you contact support, they have to send you to someone that works with harmony. Then they look at the problem can not fix it and then never call you back. Links do not work, they promise to drive trafffic but they never commit because the your website takes forever to load. Stay away from this hoax.

No I want to change the funklying default image you aunts ! *growls* yes I am drunk but my web designer wasn't and he shrugged and walked off after an hour of clicking everywhere. poor design.
