DO NOT TRUST WITH PRIVATE INFO

My family has been a client of wilkin chapman for over 30 years now. Having overheard 3 young women discussing confidential client info and also speaking out of turn about other staff in a busy shop queue in Grimsby I will not put another penny in the coffers of the company. Stupid to wear lanyards whilst doing it!! Naive Articulated clerks should not be dragging the company in to the mud at the costs of money coming in.

Big is not always beautiful!!

Big is not always beautiful!!
I used Wilkin Chapman with no real problem but this all changed after merger. Their costs have escalated but service has deteriorated. I should have learned my lesson after a simple transfer of ownership but I thought it was a one off, what a fool I was! 7 months to complete a conveyance, all their fault, possibly not. It takes two to tangle! However what I can show is that it was only when in frustration I contacted them, did matters move forward! I took control of what was said to be the problem did the matter get resolved. I can show e-mails where only after my contacting them did anything happen. All that had been needed was a short call to the other party and off we went. Hopefully we are at the end come Tuesday but it has left a bad taste in my mouth. I sold the relevant property due to a terminal health condition that has not been helped by the stress of this delay, They hold all the cards, I requested a draft statement which has yet to appear so I have no opportunity to contest any items. They take their extortionate fee which I cannot comment on. I have no problem paying for what I contracted for but that always assumed it would be done professionally! I have been in business for some 60+ years and have always lived by one word, COMMUNICATION. A word they have yet to grasp. I have read previous responses from them and found them as benign and just platitudes. I hope however someone is saved the experience I have endured by reading this. I live by every word of it!!!

Avoid.

Avoid.
Inflated costs. Greedy and sneaky.
Invoiced me for £600 without doing any work.

Dad had his will with chapman Willis and rollits. Upon his death we were unsure what we were to do with it.
We asked at reception where we were told that we could have a free 30 mins chat as the wills were done with them.
Had a meeting with the will specialist who said she could do the grant of probate all in for £1750.
Or deal with anything and everything (land registry, pensions etc) for £8000.

After a chat with a financial advisor we knew dad's estate was a very simple one so we were told that we could apply for grant of probate ourselves.
We received a contract to sign in the post.
I emailed them to instruct no paid work to be done.
I then received an invoice for £600!
Challenged it via complaints procedure.
Ended up paying £330 to make them go away.

Unhelpful. Unsympathetic. Shocking.

There's solicitors out there that help but it's my experience that these guys are in it just to fleece you. Go elsewhere.

vile and dishonest company

Disgusting and vile company, got our Energy bill from the company. Emails to me were unhelpful and ignored calls and messages to discuss and arrange something. Took it upon themselves to send to a court and a ccj! Dishonest and underhand companies like this should not be allowed to run! Woman takes details but no manager or even Chris Grocock can be bothered to call as they would rather make things worse passing onto courts and adding on fees. Disgusting!

This company are con artists and…

This company are con artists and thieves!
They are employed by the council to steal my properties. Two houses on the same deed for a tenant's council tax arrears in ONE of the properties. They railroaded in, turfed out the tenants from BOTH addresses, changed the locks and boarded up both houses. For a 4 and a half grand debt they have stolen 140,000 worth of property for a debt which IS NOT MINE.
They are in it for the extortionate charges they have concocted up, which is in excess of 12,000.
No doubt they have become wealthy by theft, because that is all this dishonest company are. In my personal opinion, they are in league with the corrupt councils in a bid to take assets from honest people.
I am also of the personal opinion that they have dubious connection with the property company. The fact that having been shown proof of tenancy, they would not allow a payment arrangement on behalf of the tenant, just shows in neon lights that what they are fighting for is not the council tax but money to stuff their own greedy coffers.
I wonder if these people know there is a God? They soon will. Let's hope they are thrown down where the other evil Bs are going. I cannot wait.

I can’t rate Wilkin Chapman enough

I can’t rate Wilkin Chapman enough. They were amazing from start to finish with my house purchase. After my previous purchase fell through after 8 months with another incompetent firm, this was a breath of fresh air. 4 months from accepted offer to getting the keys!

Kamara, Caroline, Amy and the rest of the team were so helpful! I wouldn’t listen to most of the reviews, as many seem to be from people avoiding payments. At the end of the day, they’re good at doing what they’ve been hired to do!

Horrible law firm

Horrible law firm
I am really disgusted and feel sick k that such a law firm is allowed to practice in UK. They do not deserve even one star but there was no other means to rate them. They are a predatory law firm which is after making money for limited company debts and transferring them to be paid by the company the owners. I had a visit which was authorized by this law form for a debt which was owned by a limited company and now they have gone further to attach yhe debt to my house. Honestly I am prepared to fight this case with my last breath. I am not giving them the opportunity to take a dime from my house. No never. I am going to exhaust all means possible. To think that it's a law firm I am shocked. I am not showing out all my cards for now but if any more info is requested I am have it all

This lot are managing an account on…

This lot are managing an account on behalf of their clients, an arrangement is in place but unfortunately due to health reasons, the arrangement has fallen behind. They claim they phoned me and sent text messages however this is blatant lies, Emily. No calls and no texts have been received. Whilst an automated email was received, this did not allow me to explain my situation. They have now taken delight to let me know they will be enforcing a court order. They have zero empathy, tell lies and take pleasure out of being vindictive. Needless to say I will be fighting this and asking the court to recall the court order.

PAY THE HIGH COST OF SOLICITORS AND GET OFFICE ASSISTANT DOING THE WORK

I contacted a solicitor at the firm I had experienced before and did an excellent job.
I wrote to him asking for him to act for me for the sale of my property.
I received an email confirming his acceptance. The contract of sale was drawn up specifically stating that the solicitor who accepted would be lead on the sale and have day to day responsibility. That was November 24.January 25 The conveyancing was dragging on with no exchange in site I asked questions and was ignored. I was asked questions already answered with demands of immediate attention. I was getting emails from an office assistant when I questioned why I was told the solicitor named in the contract had retired. I thought this strange as the solicitor who had accepted me as his client would have said something if he was due to retire in less than a months time. I waited for a revised contract but none was forthcoming. The conduct of the case was conducted by an office clerk, In the whole time of the sale I received one email from a "qualified" solicitor and that email contained incorrect information regarding a Tree Presevation Order which had expired 57 years before. I was doing all the investigations
I attended there offices to find out what was happening and was assured a solicitor would deal with the matter going forward. I sent emails asking about exchange as if there was a problem I would need to consider putting the property back on the market these emails were just forwarded to the other side by the office assistant who then informed me that the purchaser demanded Completion within 5 days, this contrary to the original instructions that I would need 30 days between exchange and completion as I was emigrating and would need to organise flights removals storage visas documentation etc. I was informed this date was non negotiable.
It was only when senior a manager became involved that I was able to gain the 30 days
The stress and time wasted trying to get what was in the contract actually made me ill.
I wrote to " the solicitor who had been appointed " again but she was unavailable. Disgusted and exasperated I issued instructions for the bill not to be paid from my sale funds until my formal complaint was resolved .They ignored my instructions and removed money they were not entitled to as my permission had been revoked due to the breach in the contract
Avoid Avoid Avoid. In my experience you pay for a solicitor and get an office assistant, stress and a bodged job.

No amount of stars will quantify the invaluable support we've been given...

Our family has just concluded a medical negligence claim, for a family member we lost.

We can't thank Jonathan enough. We found him, after numerous solicitors said we had no claim, we knew that was wrong. Thankfully, Jonathan believed in the claim and we got the result we needed.

As a family that have been put through a 2 year inquest, and legal proceedings - anyone who has not experienced it will never really understand how horrific it is. Jonathan was our sounding board, delivered excellent advice, support with our strategy and became a source of sanity, when all sanity was lost. He was human, relatable and didn't baffle anyone with legal nonsense.

I can't quantify the service we received, because the mental impact of having a legal professional in your corner is invaluable. Words won't do this matter justice.

Thank you for believing in us, and helping us to navigate one of the worst times in all of our lives.

Without hesitation, if we ever need it, we will be back.

I wish I had read these reviews before…

I wish I had read these reviews before going ahead and instructing a solicitor from this firm who I had contacted to help with my situation. My husband left me after 31 years of marriage, lying to me and has basically given me no financially help at all. I had to take my pension early to survive and he left me with animals. This firm has taken all my lump sum savings and nearly a year later I am still in the same position. The final straw was when the solicitor gave my ex husband my new address without my permission, and when questioned said it was my fault, and I wasn't at any harm despite him threatening me. This is a serious breach of GDPR and I have had to take more steps to fight this. I felt that they didn't work with me and missed vital information and points that should have been looked into further. They have taken my safety net of savings away that I worked for after 30 years with nothing left to show for it and even hired a Barrister on my behalf who couldn't spell the word ' Judge'! I am absolutely devastated and will never overcome this experience. Please be very wary of using Wilkin Chapman Solicitors.

Well I really wish I had checked Trust Pilot before instructing this firm. To be honest I don't even feel they gave a 1 star performance it was worse than this.
They are slow, don't actually provide what you are paying for, the legal advice was non existant. I found the NRLA to provide much more help and clarity on my issue. As for communication, I had to keep pushing to get a reply. Emails were consistently ignored and if I phoned they didn't speak to me but then emailed.
Their complaints department however was very good and I can see that they probably have a lot of practice. I was able to get a full refund on one of my cases. The other I have paid as I have had enough of this company and wish to move on. Do yourself a favour and find another firm.

What a shambolic experience when…

What a shambolic experience when dealing with a Deed of Variation via Crest Nicholson for a remortgage.
No communication.
Lengthy process predicted to take 3 weeks took 12 just to sign a piece of paper.
Totally useless.
Would not recommend.

Just disgusting!

They are a predatory company. Not at all interested in finding solutions. Only trying to wreck people's lives by using the system as a training tool for trainee solicitors.
The issue could of been solved weeks ago, but they don't appear to want to solve it.
